Work Text:
Scrambling over the top of a wall, you mop the sweat from your brow and kick back off, sprinting through the streets of Serkonos, trying to shake off those damned Overseers. To you, the Abbey's religious fervour and passion had slipped away in the favour of overbearing authority, and getting away with violence using their Strictures as a cover. And now they're hunting you. Great.
From the darkened street, you clamber onto a greenish container, channelling the Void and blinking up onto a street lamp. Spotting an open window, you grasp the opportunity, teleporting inside and hiding from the shouting men below, knowing if they catch you they'd be only too eager to cut you up and claim another small victory.
After catching your breath, you inspect the apartment you're in and to your relief, find it empty. You flick the door latch closed for the time being and shut the windows; finally, the perfect moment. You stand in the centre of the room, anticipation making your hands tremble. Delicately removing the rune from your leather shoulder bag, you gaze at it for a moment. They're quite pretty, really. Smooth, gleaming bone with that beautiful carving, expertly made. It only makes you more eager. To breathe in the Void, to feel its power running through your veins, to see him.
You nick your finger on your blade and let the blood smear onto the centre of the carving, excited to go where no one should.
Suddenly there's a crackle, then a rumble and you're blinded by a bright flash of light, and the world around you bends and twists as it's replaced with the endless grey expanse you're accustomed to by now. Gradients of grey tones, of blood, punctuated by the jagged black rock islands that float aimlessly.
You can sense him before you see him.
He materialises in front of you with a puff of black smoke and you look him in the eye, smiling. The Outsider.
He tugs your wrist and pulls you into his arms, kissing you eagerly. You feel it in how his cold, slender hands grasp and cup your face and how his lips move around yours and the delicious little noises he makes as he kisses you; he's missed you. Your arms snake around his shoulders and hold him closely, passionately.
When the Outsider pulls back, his hands still holding your face, you can properly examine the one you've missed so much. He's handsome and boyish, with deathly pale skin. Sharp cheekbones, sleek jawline, plush lips. His dark hair and black jacket making him look nothing short of nobility. Endlessly black eyes, immensely beautiful.
The Outsider looks into your eyes, holding your hands in his, the look on his face almost concerned.
"I haven't seen you in a while. I almost thought you were ignoring me."
"As if I could ever do that." Your reply is cheeky and spoken with a smile, yet your words are brutally honest. He knows they are.
A whale solemnly floats by in the Void's air but it goes unnoticed and the Outsider holds you close again.
He lets himself indulge in you. Your hands curl into his soft hair and around his torso and touch everywhere they could.
There's no pleasure for him in his lonely dimension, his entertainment coming from watching humanity create consequences with their actions. He has seen good and bad, brutal murder and loving sex, bloody corruption and tender healing. Everything. Nothing surprises him anymore.
But you're the one person in over 4000 years that makes him truly feel. And he's grateful for that.
He is going to show you how grateful he was. He is eager to.
