Summary:

kept on close-watch and microchipped like some... animal. but he couldn't care less.

Work Text:

of the two rocket admins, archer truly couldn't tell which of the two was weirder. or in a business perspective, more powerful.

grimsley was strong in his own right. only having recently found out about his vampire blood, it added onto the view of his power. the dark-type master took his opponents by surprise, using cheap tactics and trickery to direct the battle his way. a mischievous nature, he was. and his control over the pitch-black pokémon put fear in the eyes of anyone who dared to cross his path.

lance, however... was different.

he remembers the day well: their raid on the indigo league. taken by surprise, they had no choice but to really fight back. but even with their strength, the elite four was unable to hold off the numbers that team rocket had in their arsenal, and eventually were defeated. boss giovanni took quite an interest in lance... and ordered his immediate capture. it all happened so quickly, even the dragon master couldn't predict the moves. in an instant, several bangs echoed in the room— three of which were gunshots, one of which was a tranquilizer.

there were three reported deaths, and a disappearance later that night.

rocket then spent the better half of two months keeping lance unconscious, the scientists below the base working their hardest to fulfill giovanni's request: find some way to fuse him with one of the three dragonites the trainer had on hand. obviously, the unanimous vote picked the most aggressive of the three, which led to the next step: fusing the two. using some stolen technology from a certain PC-dev, it was smooth merging them. what took longer was keeping him under control.

he lashed out. multiple times. he woke as soon as dragonite's blood fused with his own, and due to the combined anger of the two, he was quick to go berserk. luckily, only a few people were injured before he was knocked out again. so a new goal was set in place: developing a control chip. technology scientists were in charge of this little endeavor, to which was quickly completed and sent below ground. the chip was inserted into his neck of all places, so it wouldn't dare to get in the way. and the next time the dragon master woke...

"...admin lance ... of team rocket."

it's not easy to tell what lance is thinking. he walks around base to and fro wherever he is required to be, a blank expression in those red eyes of his. he acts without right or reason, only showing emotion when it is truly necessary. even if he does portray a bit of an attitude when he speaks, his voice is monotone so nobody could tell if he was being rude or not.

when in battle, that monochrome behavior does a complete 180.

the admin's dragonblood truly does outshine everything when in battle— either when he's lost control, or when he's being controlled. sharp claws from his nails, sharp teeth, and the slits in his red eyes thin in rage. he's quick to slay his opponents, taking little to no time to wipe out a large force with a few swipes of his knife-like claws. combine that with the man's natural muscle and pokémon, anyone who crosses his path better wish themself a good night.

two sides of the same coin, archer thinks to himself. turquoise hues gaze over to the admin in question, listening to his companion's idle chatter. nails clacking against the stone of the table, red hues unfocused and seemingly bored.

hmm... well, he'll just have to see. it's not everyday you get to see a change in an overly-developed program line.

...

...perhaps silvessia could offer some assistance with control devices.
