Knock knock knock
Marianne stared at her door in shock. She had been at Garreg Mach for almost a month and had not had any visitors. Perhaps if she ignored the knocking, whoever was on the other side would go away.
“Hello?” A girl’s voice called from the other side of the door. “Marianne, are you in there?”
Marianne sighed and cracked her door open. “Hello.”
“Ah! There you are! I was beginning to think I had been imagining the cute blue-haired girl in the back of the classroom all this time!” The pink-haired girl smiled cheerily at Marianne.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to make you worry.” Marianne said quietly. She started to close her door again, but found that her classmate’s foot had moved to block her.
“Oh, I wasn’t worried. I just wanted to introduce myself! My name’s Hilda.” Hilda kept smiling, seemingly oblivious to the fact that her foot had moved to keep Marianne from closing the door on her. “If we’re going to be classmates, I thought we should get to know each other. Would it be alright if I came in?”
Marianne tried to think of any reason Hilda shouldn’t come in, but unfortunately she had none. She opened the door and let the energetic girl into her room.
“Oh, thank you!” Hilda said, almost jumping into the room. She turned to face Marianne. “Wow, you really are cute, aren’t you?”
Marianne blushed. “T-thank you…” Of course, Marianne had seen Hilda in class before. Hilda was quite cute herself, but Marianne couldn’t very well tell her that.
“Why do you stay in your room all the time?” Hilda asked, sitting on Marianne’s bed without permission. “You’re cute, I’m sure you’re smart. Don’t you want to make some friends?”
“Oh, I…” Marianne looked at her feet, folding her hands nervously in front of her. “I would like to, but I don’t think-”
“Great! It’s settled then.” Hilda jumped up and pulled Marianne into a surprisingly tight hug. “You and I are friends now. If you ever need anything, just let me know.” Hilda pulled away and walked to Marianne’s bedroom door. “I’ve gotta go for now, but I’ll see you at lunch right?” She turned and winked over her shoulder, then closed the door before Marianne could answer.
“I… I guess you will.” Marianne muttered to herself. Hilda. She thinks I’m cute. Marianne blushed and adjusted her hair. I like her.
