Chapter Text
I woke up to the heavy rain I heard outside and checked my phone.
7:55
Wow, just 5 minutes until my alarm goes off. I would’ve liked those 5 minutes.
I shrugged and felt a hand on my shoulder, knowing who it was. “I’m surprised you’re up earlier than I am Mikey.” I said to him concerned. “You had another bad dream, didn’t you?” I turned to him and met his eyes. They weren't as bright as before. They lost light and color. The only thing that could fool someone into thinking he’s actually okay, was his smile. As someone who has known him for several years though, I can tell the difference between his real and fake smiles.
“Yeah, this would be the 3rd one in a row. I’m okay though so don’t worry.” He said to me smiling while he got up. “Thanks for letting me spend the night by the way, again.”
He says he’s okay, but I know he’s lying.
“Of course! The guest room’s bed isn’t that big so I hope it was comfy.” He chuckled. “Anything would’ve been fine Y/n.” As he ended his sentence, I noticed his smile quickly faded away. Knowing him, he probably wouldn’t tell me what his dream was unless I ask.
“Manjiro...” I said softly. He hummed as a reply while turning his attention away from his phone to me. “What was your dream about?” I finally asked, relieved.
“Shinichiro. Even though I wasn’t there when he was killed, sometimes he appears in my dreams and I see him lying in a puddle of blood. I can’t move or speak. I have to sit there and watch him bleed out. I-” I cut him off mid sentence and got up from my bed to hug him. “It’s okay you don’t have to continue, it's okay.” I said calmly. I felt his body become less tense and stiff after a few seconds of hugging him, so I decided to back off. Instead of allowing me to let go of him, he tightened his grip around me, not wanting me to leave.
After a minute or two of staying like that, I realized I had to get ready for school. “Mikey, I have to get ready for school.” I said while chuckling. He sighed dramatically and released me. “When you’re done getting ready, I’ll take you to school.” He said, smiling at me. ‘You know it.” I replied laughing.
The rain stopped and the sun came out. Birds were singing and the clouds went away.
It’s going to be a good day.
--------------------
As we rode along the streets that had tons of cars and people, I noticed Mikey kept glancing behind him to look at me. I didn’t think anything of it at first, but as it kept happening I finally decided to say something. “Mikey, why do you keep looking at me?” I asked straight up. “Whaaat? Can’t I look at my amazing friend?” He asked while passing a red light. “Mikey! What did I say about passing red lights?” I asked him while hitting his back over and over again. He laughed and I could tell it was real. Seeing him happy makes me happy. I smiled and laughed along with him.
Before I realized, I was at school, and saw Emma waiting for me at the front with Draken. I hopped off Mikey’s motorbike when he stopped and rushed to Emma to hug her.
“Yo, Ken-chin.” Mikey said while smiling. “Mikey, what did I say about calling me that in public.” Draken replied. Deep down, I think he does like it when he calls him that, he just won't admit it. “Y/n that reminds me, there’s a festival coming up, and I want all 4 of us to go together.” Emma said. “Of course! Just text me the details.”
As I heard the bells ring and saw students walking to their classes, me and Emma told the duo bye and waved.
“Bye-byeee!” Mikey said to us. I smiled from ear to ear. “Also Y/n, I’m picking you up today again.” Mikey said as he left with Draken.

As me and Emma walked to class, she stared at me really, and I mean REALLY hard. “Uhh, Emma, are you okay?” I asked.
“You like him, don’t you?” She asked while smiling.
By who, she must mean Mikey.
“Ah-was it obvious? I thought I hid it pretty well.” I asked her while blushing hard. “It’s not that obvious, I just have good instincts. So, when’s the first date?” She asked, sounding excited. “D-date? I don’t even know if he likes me back Emma.” She frowned. “Oh come on Y/n, you’ve known each other for a very long time and you mean to tell me you haven’t noticed ANY signs of him liking you?” She asked. “You must know something that I don’t since you’re putting it like that Emma.” I told her. “I don’t, I just see the way he looks at you sometimes.” She replied, acting like she was onto something. “Emma, if you say anything, I’ll tell Draken you like him.” I told her while walking faster to class. “Y/n! You meanie!.” She said, trying to catch up.
It’s finally the end of the day, I’m starving and wanna go home. I took out my phone to see if Mikey messaged me if he’s here yet. No message. That’s weird, he usually tells me when he’s here or not. I didn’t think anything of it and continued to walk out the school.
Time passed by and Mikey still hasn’t texted or called back.
Maybe he’s busy with gang stuff, which is nothing new. He's a very important man and has a lot of responsibilities. I called Emma to see if she could give me a ride home, since walking at this time wouldn’t be the best idea.
“Hello?”
“Hey Emma, do you mind giving me a ride from school? Mikey isn’t answering his phone.”
“You called me out of my nap just for this?”
“Shut up Emma”
“I’m kidding, I'm kidding geez. Give me 10 k?”
“Thank you very much ma’am.”
She laughed and then hung up.
Mikey..I hope you’re okay with whatever you’re doing.
After Emma dropped me off at home, I saw that the lights were on at home.
Mom and dad are finally back from their business trip!
I rushed to the door and to my surprise, it was unlocked. I burst in the house only not to find Mom or Dad, but Mikey. Instead of the cheery Mikey, he was sad and covered in tons of blood and bruises. He looked distraught. No not distraught, but lifeless, depressed, conflicted.
"Mikey..what happened to you?"
