The Doctor walked around the console on her ship boredly flipping switches, pushing buttons and twisting toggles. Travelling alone takes its toll on the doctor, no matter how old she gets and how wise she is. It seems that every now and then she makes that very unwise decision and flys away in that big old empty box.
"Where should we fly off today old girl" she swept a hand across the surface. "Maybe a checkup on some old favourites?" The ship whirred and roared from within the engine in agreement. It vibrated her fingers resting on the console which flooded her mind with memories of younger life. She looked down and smiled in a melancholy manner.
She went silent as she piloted as she usually did but her hands heavily fell upon the cold metal and lost all enthusiasm half way through. She sighed. "God i've gone soft in my old age 'aven't I?"
she laughed and pulled a screen twords her face scanning over gallifreyian coordinates and small dotted starsout in her home of deep space. At this point she was aimlessly floating partly from a lack of motivation and patly from indescision, the two famous killers of any traveller. The strange peace of a crusing empty Tardis did not last long though as a clang through The Doctor to the floor and left her in the dark. BANG another large sock shot through the metal and spun the entire ship around. The Doctor sprung up, disoriented in a powerless Tardis only saved by the soft glow of her yellow pillers. She made her way twords the interface and engine inspecting everything making sure there was nothing that needed repairing. In a stroke of luck it didnt seem that anything was visibly damaged. The Doctor rubbed her face in releif but spun around and raised a brow puzzled.
"Right... powers been drained, thats odd." She thumpped back over to her console. "Now why would someone do that."
The screen lit up and flickered with a message "Yeah that would explain it" the message was very obviously coordinates. A jolt of adventure and mystery rang throughout the doctors body, her first. instinct was to input them into her navigation system and woosh off to find new trouble but before she did she deciphered the address in her head.
76 Trotter's Lane, Shoreditch, London, EC1 5EG. The Doctor recognized this address immeditaley. She franticlly dug around any pockets she had to try and find her library card and eventually pulled out a stack of 11 of them. All of them read that same adress on the bottom line but one of her cards was missing from her pile. Something had clicked in her head and as it did she cycled through shock, happiness, pride and dissapointment. Eventually she had landed on excitement as she expected what was to come of this adventure. Right on cue the power snapped back on and the screen was back to the stars, quickly The Doctor pulled the Tardis into gear.
The Tardis loudly landed inside a dim mainntance room of an alien planet. The Doctor swung the door open waisitng no time spinning around looking for the route to the main computer "Oh you lovley lovley woman" she muttered to herself as she whipped out her sonic and scanned it.
It took a few minutes not only to pin point where the message had come from but also to navigate the planet wide library that The Doctor had decidedly landed on but she had eventually found a room with large double doors. She sucked a deep breathe through her lungs perhaps in an attempt to stop the pounding of her hearts and muster the courage to open those doors. Once she did and stomped through she was met with an empty room filled with what looked like ancient books, how fitting.
"I got your message" She shouted through the book filled room. No reponse
She wandered for a bit not 100% sure what she was looking for, but a beeping receptor on the roof caught her eye. Pointning her sonic upwards and toggling the frequency she hoped with both hearts that this worked, and work it did.
"Hello sweetie, It's been sometime."
"River..."
She lowered her tool and looked at the visage of her love.
"... River" She couldn't think of a single thing to say so she took a few cautionary steps forwards
"My my how you've changed, no complaints through i'd say this is one of my favourites"
River also trudged forward and they circled, examining eachother. She had that smug smile on her face that smile she smiled when she puzzled The Doctor
"... How did you get my library card." It was a fair question as River had been dead for a number of years now.
"Right down to business then? No hello? Nothing you'd like to wish me?" They continually moved closer, The Doctors face filled with delighted shock. When they were about 4 inches away The Doctor sprung forward wrapping her hands around her wife and pushed their lips together in joyful reunion. They pulled away and the Doctor touched her face.
"How the hell did you manage the power for this." She said not wanting to let go.
"Oh I have my ways, some people are just as clever as you dear" She teased
"No" the Doctor pulled her in again "Just you." River chuckled her magical chuckle and faced The Doctor again.
"So, I assume the date you input wasn't pure luck" She cheekily suggested
Running her hands through that wonderfully thick hair she pushed their foreheads together. "Happy Anniversary Sweetie." She smiled
"I'm impressed you remembered honestly, especially in your old age how old are you now?"
She broke away from The Doctors clutch and moved around the room seemingly looking for something.
"I'm pushing 3000 if you can believe it" She simply watched her darling meander around the room
"I must say you don't look a day over 907" River faced The doctor again from across the room and pulled out The Doctors newsest sonic prompting The Doctor to search her pockets
"Oi! When did you pinch that?" Music began to play as River tampered with it
"Oh i just love this new accent, compared to your last one it's so endearing. no more proper complaing for you though unfortunatley."
The last Doctor that River saw was her young tenth incarnation but River could still remember the old scott that spent that night on derilium with her.
The music played and River held out a hand that The Doctor grasped and swung around her beloved wife.
"It was much easier when you were in stromcage, pop in and out for a birthday on the Thames." The Doctor said reminiscing
"Oh god you are getting old on me" She held her close to her "Since when were you the nostolgic type"
"I have no clue perhaps it's these years of marriage" she teased back.
They spent the night dancing and laughing and reading and learning after years of loss they had finally reunited and reminded eachother of a different life.
