One of Shayne's favourite things about Damien is how he never shuts the fuck up.
Between shoots, Damien chats, laughing and cracking jokes between them that have Shayne in stitches. His brain works so fast sometimes Shayne gets lost on the conversational thread but he so grateful to be the centre of Damien's attention as the topic flips from how lemmings jump off cliffs to d'you want me to get us dinner later? which is just funny in itself because they were originally talking about getting new boots.
On the way home, Damien will hook one of their phones up to the speakers and Shayne will crank the volume. They'll sing together, voices cracking and warbling, practicing accents or sometimes Damien will just hum along and listen to Shayne's butchered attempt at whatever song is playing. He'll kiss Shayne's knuckles and say hey, I love your voice and Shayne will tell him to shut the fuck up.
He'll blush something awful though, because he knows Damien really, really does.
Even at night, Damien makes noise. He snores softly in a deep sleep, sounds that are really more like sighs and he'll make a sound that's almost a purr when Shayne strokes his hair. When insomnia has got Damien messed up, he'll gather Shayne up in his arms, earphones in, and watch a video on his phone, propped up on Shayne's back, or balanced on the bed. He'll rub his nose against the nape of Shayne's neck, and if Shayne wakes up, he'll feel the way Damien's mouthing 'I love you' like it's the only thing he knows.
Right now, Damien's got Shayne's white hat jammed backwards over his head. It makes his eyes look almost black in contrast, and Shayne can't stop the fond look on his face as Damien sings quietly, two take- out cups of Starbucks in his hands.
"I came to this place looking for a familiar face and that's when I saw you…" He holds out the coffee with a crinkle eyed smile. " 'Cause you don't know me and I don't know you but it breaks my heart to see you looking so blue…"
Shayne takes both cups so Damien can drag a chair over. Their knees bump when he sits down and Damien ducks his head into Shayne's space.
"Idiot." Shayne chuckles, pressing a kiss to Damien's cheek.
"Thank you." Damien beams. It's stupidly domestic, the way Damien’s arm settles on the back of his chair. He loves the way Damien leans forward when Shayne hooks a foot around his ankle.
"Was the line long?"
"Nah, that nice barista was on, she knows our order."
"Mm." Shayne passes Damien one of his earphones, shuffling their chairs closer together. "Then what took so long?"
"Put gas in the car, picked up some snacks. The usual." Damien plucks up one of the cups. "I just peeked your name on the coffee cup. What a stroke of luck, the guy just messed up and gave your cup to me."
"You dork." Shayne rolls his eyes, turning the cup in his hands to see Damien's name on the cardboard cup in vaguely familiar writing.
Damien winks, offering the other cup of coffee, pink lips stretched in a cheeky smile. "Why are you the way you are?"
"It's called flirting, stupid." Damien wets his lips, tapping his cup to the plastic lid of Shayne's before swapping them over.
"Yuhuh, sure." Shayne pretends his cheeks don't flush at the scrawled "Shayne♡" in blue sharpie.
"You love it." He pokes a finger in Shayne's cheek where his smile dimples.
"I love you, dumbass."
"Shut up and drink your coffee."
