Blushes and Interesting Pet Names

Summary:

Seb stumbles upon Mick and Pierre who are about to have their first kiss and he accidentally outs himself in the process.

Notes:

Hello everyone! Here is a Race of Champions story that I have been waiting ages to write but I never had a plot for and finally it's here! This is based in Mexico of 2019 where Pierre and Mick get together plus Seb outs himself as he walks in on the two drivers as he speaks to a certain someone on the phone. It's fun to write about embarrassed and flustered drivers so you're spoiled if you like it too. Next up is a prompt and I can only apologise that it's taking me so long to get them written! I really enjoyed writing this so I hope you all enjoy it too!

Work Text:

Pierre was sitting in the drivers room on his own during the final day of the Race of Champions. Most of the drivers had left or were still wandering around on the track. He wanted a quiet moment to himself to build up the confidence in order to ask Mick out. The two drivers had spent a lot of time together over the course of the past few days and they had known each other for a while. Pierre considered Mick to be his friend and he was trying to get his words out in practising how he was going to ask Mick out. He didn’t mind travelling to Switzerland ahead of the F1 season and F2 season or they could travel to France. He coughed a laugh, he was planning for a non existing date as he hadn’t even asked Mick yet and the German hadn’t said yes.

The Frenchman was too busy worrying about when the date would take place that he didn’t even notice Mick walking into the room.

“Hey, Pierre.” Greeted Mick, warmly.

Pierre froze and looked up at Mick before he nearly shook himself out of it and smiled at the German.

“Hey.”

Mick sat down next to Pierre and the Frenchman nearly gulped at the close proximity.

“I’ve been looking for you.” Said Mick.

Pierre’s eyes widened.

“You have?”

Mick nodded.

“Yeah, I wanted to see if you wanted to get a drink at the hotel later tonight.”

Pierre blushed and ducked his head down for a moment before he bit his lip and gazed at Mick.

“Yeah, I’d really like that.”

Mick smiled and Pierre cleared his throat nervously as he decided to ask the question that he had been thinking about before Mick had stepped into the room.

“Mick, I was wondering if you wanted to go out on a date with me. Maybe not here but we could go on a date in Switzerland or in France, it’s up to you or we don’t have to. Jeez, I’ve made this awkward now, um-”

The German chuckled and Pierre stopped talking as Mick shook his head fondly.

“I’d really like to go on a date with you.”

“Yeah?” Whispered Pierre.

“That’s kind of why I asked if you wanted to have a drink with me as a sort of date.”

Pierre smiled.

“Then it’s a date.”

He gently cupped Mick’s cheek as the German smiled back at him. His heart was beating really fast as the gap between them closed although they were already so close to one another. Before Pierre had time to place his lips onto Mick’s, they were interrupted with Seb rushing into the room talking on the phone loudly.

“I told you before, babe, I can always get a flight home at the last minute, I’m sure there will be one.”

Seb was too busy listening to the person on the other end of the phone that he initially didn’t see Mick nor Pierre. He didn’t realise that the two had created more distance between them or the fact that Pierre’s hand was now resting on Mick’s shoulder. It wasn’t until he looked up that he saw the two young drivers sitting in front of him staring at him like children caught with their hands in the cookie jar. All three drivers seemed to blush as one as Seb took in Mick and Pierre’s existence. He rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly as he decided to bring the conversation to an end.

“Look, Schatz, I need to go, I’ll call you later.” Mumbled Seb.

He immediately ended the call and focused his attention onto the two drivers.

“Hi.”

Mick raised an eyebrow.

“Schatz?”

Seb shook his head.

“Never mind, what are you guys doing here?”

He took a step forward and his eyes fell on Pierre’s hand that was still resting on Mick’s shoulder. The Frenchman realised what Seb was staring at and he opened his mouth to speak but Seb got there before him.

“Oh, god! I ruined a moment, didn’t I? I’m so sorry, I can go.” Seb apologised.

Pierre dropped his hand and his heart sank as Mick turned away from him slightly to face Seb but he relaxed as Mick placed a hand on his leg.

“Are you going to tell us who was on the phone?” Asked Mick, curiously.

“That’s none of your business.” Insisted Seb.

Pierre snorted.

“You’ve walked in on us, you might as well tell us. Mick can probably find out anyway.”

Seb rubbed the back of his neck again and Mick rolled his eyes.

“It’s Jenson, isn’t it?”

The blush and flustered look about Seb confirmed his suspicions as the older German moved away to grab his bag.

“Well, I’m sorry for walking in on you but I need to make another phone call so I’ll see you guys later.” Mumbled Seb.

“Say hi to Jenson for us.” Teased Mick.

Seb narrowed his eyes at Mick and shook his head when his compatriot smiled innocently back at him. He left the two drivers alone before they could ask anymore questions. Pierre burst out laughing when Seb was out of sight and Mick turned towards him, smiling happily.

“How do you know it’s Jenson?” Asked Pierre.

“Seb’s been missing him, he’s the only person he’s been talking about for the past couple of days so it must be him.”

“You learn something new every day.” Pierre pointed out.

Mick’s eyes sparkled as he withdrew his hand from Pierre’s leg so he could turn to face him properly again. Pierre’ cupped Mick’s cheek and his thumb stroked over the soft skin as he gazed into Mick’s eyes.

“Where were we before Seb so rudely interrupted us?” Murmured Pierre.

Mick chuckled as he wrapped his arms around Pierre to draw him closer.

“About here I reckon.” He whispered.

This time when Pierre closed the gap, there were no interruptions and he happily kissed Mick focusing on him and only him. Mick gasped into the kiss as Pierre tilted his head and brushed his beard against his skin. Eventually, Pierre pulled back slightly to get some air and huffed a laugh as Mick looked very dazed.

“So, do you want to head out of here and grab that drink?”

Mick chuckled and nodded. He stood up and pulled Pierre to his feet before he grabbed his backpack. Pierre had enough time to grab his own bag before Mick was dragging him out of the room so they could head to the hotel. They both laughed at each other as they stumbled along. Their priority was to spend as much time with one another as they could, which meant that they had to get back to the hotel as quickly as possible.
