"Ladies and gentlemen, tonight we are pleased to welcome Madame Mylène Bruel and her husband Monsieur Ivan Bruel to the show." Applause rang out as the aforementioned guests walked onstage. They waved genially at the audience. Ivan's was more subdued but no less enthusiastic. After shaking hands with the host and exchanging pleasantries, the couple sat down.
"Thank you so much for joining us today." The host smiled.
"Thank you so much for having us!" Mylène chirped.
"We're both very excited to be here." Ivan added.
"I imagine so." The host smiled before facing the audience and cameras. "Today we're here to discuss Mme. and M. Bruel's 'Go Green' initiative, Green Air. Now, I'm sure you all know about Project Green Air, but-" She turned the conversation back to the couple- "we wouldn't mind hearing it again. So, tell us. What is Project Green Air, and how did it get started?"
Mylène clasped her husband's hand and said, "Well, Project GA actually started when we were both in collége. We've both always been passionate about the environment and had tried in many ways to assist in spreading the message. But-" she paused. Ivan, who'd never stopped looking at her, smiled in encouragement. "But we always felt that there was more that we could be doing." Ivan watched, as his wife dived into the story of Project GA. Captivated as he always was when Mylène spoke about it. As much as she insisted that it was their project, Ivan knew that without her and her uncompromising drive towards completing this, they wouldn't have made it this far.
They were here reaping the benefits of a fifteen year project, due to the backing and support of their friends, yes. But Mylène was the heart and glue. She usually took the lead during interviews. Not because he didn't want to, but because he loved watching Mylène light up whenever she talked about their passion project. She just got this gleam in her eye, her entire face, body, everything changed. She became lighter, her movements more free and expressive.
Watching as Mylène regaled the host and audience about the ups and downs of their journey, Ivan felt honored to have gotten to make this journey with her. He'd vowed to follow her anywhere at their wedding, and he silently repeated it to himself now. Wherever she went, he'd follow.
