Work Text:
As a kid Changbin was told that sirens would use their voice to sing beautiful melodies to lure fisherman into their cave just to kill and eat them.
As a kid – changbin believed them, and a part of him still does.
But how can such beautiful creatures be something so.. dark?
He wanted to meet a siren someday - just to prove that they aren‘t the creatures his parents would tell and warn him about, but he knew that it was an dangerous idea that could cost his life.
Little Changbin loved the ocean, he felt at peace listening to the waves crashing against each other.
The water under his feet gave him a comforting feeling and he felt as if he was sang to sleep by his mother.
His mother had the voice of an angel, the face of an doll and her skin always felt warm and soft.
As Changbin grew older – he knew much more about sirens than his younger self knew about them.
He knew that he desperatly wanted to see a siren one day, and he knew the consiquences and that it would probably cost his life.
Changbin had little to no Interest in meeting other kids.
If he was at home he studied the beautiful creatures in his storybooks and drew them – but not like in his storybooks – he drew them friendlier – with little smiles and pretty faces.
Whenever he had the chance he would run to the shore and waddle through the cold icy sea water.
He knew that other people thought he was crazy, but he didn‘t really care.
It was his dream after all – and no one else could decide if he wanted to follow his dream or not.
It was his own decicion to make and even though his parents didn‘t like the idea, they supported their son whenever they had the chance.
On Changbin‘s 13th Birthday his Mother left and never came back.
It was a story to be told that a Siren that fell in love with an Human would leave after 13 years of marriage.
But Changbin only giggled at the thought of it – he knew that this wasn‘t true.
A few days later his mother was found dead, appereantly she drowned.
As Changbin turned 18, he left his home to sail the world.
He became part of an popular pirate crew and they understood each other like brothers.
His best friend – his crewmate named chan – was their leader and he took their crew on many adventures.
Some adventures were successful – and some weren‘t.
They lost a few members – due to heat, due to murdering, or suicide.
Sadly it was very common for his crewmates to commit suicide, being on the ocean for months straight without enough food and water was torturing – and changbin himself sometimes struggled to keep going – but luckily Chan was always there to comfort him – even though sometimes Chan was the one that needed comfort the most.
Chan once told him, that his little brother was brutally killed by a siren.
He told him, that the siren was singing beautiful lullabies and that his younger brother was too curious – he fell in love with the siren with blonde long hair and soon his younger brother – Jeongin – dissapeared into the deep water with a smile on his lips.
Every night Changbin looked at the stars and wondered – what was his mother doing now?
Was his dream of meeting a siren really worth his life?
Why was he so obsessed with seeing sirens with his own eyes?
What would he do if the reality was that they didn‘t even exist?
No – that couldn‘t be it – at least Changbin didn‘t believe so.
Chan was sitting beside him, also looking at the stars.
„You know.., i don‘t understand why you want to see those beasts.., but maybe we could go a different route from here?“ he asked and smiled a little.
„If we follow the stream from here. It should bring us to Whitecap Bay.“ his eyes didn‘t leave the starts as he spoke.
„It‘s the right spot for finding a siren. But you need to go alone – even though it hurts me a lot. I can‘t bring myself to.. kill my other crewmates.“ Chan‘s voice shivered a bit at the thought of losing more members.
„Losing Jeongin was enough for my pack.“ Chan lowered his gaze and was now looking at changbin with a pained smile.
„I don‘t like your dream, but I can‘t change it either.“ he spoke with a soft tone in his voice.
„It‘s your decicion. But it would be nice if you wouldn‘t die.“ Changbin looked at him with wide eyes.
Chan would let him go? Even though it could mean that he could die?
He was so touched that he didn‘t even realize that Chan went back to bed, now it was just him on deck – and the deep sea which waves crashed against the hard sides of their ship.
He sighed as he watched the deep water which was glittering due to the moonlight.
As the sun began to rise Changbin also decided to go to sleep.
Many days had passed since then – and it was exhausting being an pirate.
Sometimes other Ships would attack them out of nowhere and they were always at risk of losing their life.
But with Chan as their Leader they – almost - always came back safely without getting being hurt too much.
After six long nerve-wrecking days they arrived at a little village named „Moontale“ near Whitecap Bay.
The people that lived there were very nice and took good care of them.
Changbin sighed softly as his stiff back came in touch with the soft mattress of one of their bedrooms the village told them they could use.
Oh how he missed being able to sleep in a soft bed everynight.
Even though he was very tired and felt as if he would pass out due to exhaustion – he still couldn‘t fall asleep.
His mind was screaming at him, telling him that he was stupid for wanting to see them in person.
And he knew that it wasn‘t the best idea – but his heart still told him that it was the right path he wanted to go.
He imaged pretty women with long silky hair and a beautiful fishtail.
He felt as if he already could hear their beautiful songs they were singing to lure their food to them.
But before he could imagine more things - he passed out and slept still without any nightmares or dreams that night.
As he woke up it was almost 9 AM – it felt great to get a solid 10 hour sleep and he felt as if he could carry mountains on his back.
A big stretch and he was ready for the day.
His day – the day where he would probably give his life just to see a siren in person.
His feet dragged him to the sea and he took a big breath to inhale the fresh and salty air.
He felt freedom, he was alone – no one judged him – no one told him what to do – and no one told him what was right and what was wrong.
It was quiet, just him – his own thoughts and the sound of the crashing waves of the ocean.
He sighed – he felt happy – he felt as if he was a child again, chasing after his mother through the warm sand without worrying about tomorrow.
But he wasn‘t a child anymore, and his mother wasn‘t alive either.
He was completely alone, deciding on his own what to do next without the help of his parents.
As he arrived on Whitecap Bay he noticed how quiet it was.
The village was very far away and no one really dared to come here.
No one expect Changbin – he smiled quietly at the thought.
„Oh god what am i even doing here?“ he asked himself but there was no one else to answer his question.
His eyes scanned the place, it was full of broken crashed ships and as he dared to look at them he could see the remaining bones of another pair of humans.
„I wonder how they died.“ he spoke to himself as he analyzed their bones.
As he decided to walk a little more he suddenly heard a silent but lovely voice and as he turned around he saw a boy sitting on a rock with his beautiful and long fishtail that began at his hips.
„You need to leave.“ he said firmly – but his voice wasn‘t agressive.
Changbin couldn‘t believe what was happening – that he finally saw what he searched for his whole life.
„Please, you need to leave.“ the voice disturbed his own loud thoughts.
The boy sitting in front of him had pretty long and silky blonde hair and blue eyes like a diamond.
Changbin was stunned – he couldn‘t move and he felt intoxicated from the beautiful boy in front of him.
„Whats your name?“ he stuttered out.
„My Name?..“ the siren seemed confused.
„My Name..“ it seemed as if he needed to think about it.
„Felix.“ he spoke after a long pause.
„But you still – need to leave.“ the voice of the siren was shaking and as changbin looked at his face he saw the tears in his eyes.
His instinct told him to run, to never come back and to forget about the boy which still begged him to go.
But his heart and his mind were yelling at him to go and hug the siren which seemed to tear up.
„Don‘t cry.“ he whispered and the siren shook his head.
„You won‘t understand – if they find you – you will die. And i will have to kill you even though i don‘t want to hurt you.“ he hissed.
„Just.. go.“ before Changbin could answer the siren jumped back into the water and dissapeared.
It was the moment it clicked inside of Changbin‘s Head.
They were real. It wasn‘t just a story in a Childrens Book.
They were real! He couldn‘t prove it, but he knew the truth.
He ran – faster as he ever ran and as he arrived at the village they would stay for a few days he felt tears in his eyes – but he couldn‘t cry – he wasn‘t sad – he was happy and he hoped it wasn‘t his last time of meeting this mysterious boy with a fishtail that had shimmered in the sun.
He wondered how his scales would feel like under his fingertips.
The boy was pretty, his voice was deeper than imagined but still was like fresh honey.
His hair seemed soft and he could remember the freckles the boy had on his cheeks, his shoulders and his arms.
His heart was beating faster than usually and as he turned the hot water on to shower - the boy still hadn‘t left the pirates thoughts.
Changbin imagined the siren sitting in front of him as he touched himself – he felt sick as his hands gripped his manhood a little bit harder.
His strong hands worked their way around his lenght and some deep moans escaped his lips – oh how pretty the siren would look with blown eyes and a mouth full of dick.
As soon as he remembered the boys plump lips he chased after his high and pure ecstasy was bubbling in the lower part of his stomach as he released.
After the shower changbin was laying down on his bed.
He needed to talk to Chan – he needed to tell his best friend that the stories were real.
But all of this could wait until tomorrow.
As he fell asleep he dreamed of the boy only, and he still could hear his voice in his head.
On the next day Changbin was awake earlier than yesterday.
He ate breakfast and talked to some villagers about their day.
They told him different storys about sirens – that the sirens in whitecap bay were very agressive in the dark and that they would try to drown you if you fell under their spell.
As soon as Chan woke up Changbin was on his side, blabbering and blabbering – telling him every detail of the day yesterday.
He even told him the details Chan didn‘t want to hear and the Leader shook his head with an disgusted mimic.
„That‘s disgusting!“ Chan laughed and hit Changbin but Changbin was still not stopping on telling him about the siren he met yesterday.
„I should go and meet him again!“ gasped Changbin and his cheeks were tainted a slight pink of seeing the siren again.
„His name is Felix!“ Changbin‘s Voice was soft as he spoke his name and on his Lips was a light smile.
„His whole Face is full with freckles. And his tail has the prettiest colours of blue to green. I wish you would‘ve seen him with your own eyes!“ Changbin told him happily.
„You sound like a little boy who developed their first crush.“ stated Chan which earned an shocked gasp from his best friend.
„You would‘ve fallen in love too if you would‘ve seen him!“ Changbin made this very clear and crossed his arms to defend himself.
„So – you are in love?“ asked Chan and Changbin needed to think about his answer for a bit.
„No – I don‘t think I am. I don‘t know him. You can‘t just develop love for someone you just met – right?“ Changbin‘s brows were knitted together as he thought about his feelings.
„It is possible.“ a different voice told him.
As he looked up he saw Jisung - another pirate of their crew.
„I‘m pretty sure it is possible to fall in love with someone you just met.“ he stated and smiled slightly.
„I believe in soulmates you know.“ Jisung said.
„Soulmates?“ Changbin asked quietly.
„Your.. significant other.“ Chan explained.
„It‘s someone you basicially know even though they are a stranger.“ Jisung fell into their Leaders word.
„I‘ve heard stories about it.“ Jisung laughed and he told them the long and tragic story of two soulmates that got seperated.
On the same day Changbin went to Whitecap Bay all by himself again.
„Felix!“ he yelled but no one answered him.
He wandered a little bit farther than yesterday, and as it started storming he found shelter under a big mountain.
„Where are you?“ he yelled again but still – no answer.
„Why are you ignoring me?“ he asked himself and a few hours passed where Changbin just wandered around, he had his sword ready if something or someone decided to attack him out of nowhere.
But still nothing happened, and as he looked at the fading sun he could tell it was around 6PM.
It was beginning to get colder and Changbin clutched his jacket a little bit tighter.
As the sun had almost completly dissapeared Felix still didn‘t show up and Changbin was wondering if the siren was ignoring him on purpose.
Was it his fault that he wouldn‘t show up? Was Felix mad at him because he was here again even though he knew that it would be dangerous for a human?
Many different thoughts managed to get in his head and he seemed distracted enough to didn‘t even realize that he wasn‘t alone anymore.
My heart is pierced by Cupid
I disdain all glittering gold
There is nothing can console me
But my jolly sailor bold
A voice behind him began to sing a beautiful song and Changbin turned around, alarmed he pulled for his sword just to find that no one was behind him.
His hair it hangs in ringlets, his eyes as black as coal
My happiness attend him wherever he may go
From Tower Hill to Blackwall, I'll wander, weep and moan
All for my jolly sailor, until he sails home
Another pair of voice joined the other and Changbin knew – this was a trap. They wanted him to follow their voices.
It was hard not to do what they wanted and even though Changbin tried his best to control his body – his body just walked on his own without him wanting it.
Was this the spell everyone told him about?
My heart is pierced by Cupid
I disdain all glittering gold
There is nothing can console me
But my jolly sailor bold
And again – another voice joined and Changbin felt helpless.
Their voices were so pretty.
He would describe their voices as.. angelic – but it was the complete opposite of it.
As he stepped into the water, he tried to fight against it.
He didn‘t want to die – not without seeing felix for the last time.
Not without telling Chan and his Crew goodbye.
Oh god – he didn‘t want to die.
He saw their eyes, they were glittering in the dark – full of hunger and joy of seeing another pair of prey that fell for their spell.
The water was cold and Changbin shivered as it reached his hips.
Please – let it stop – let this be a dream – let this be another pair of nightmare that he dreamed almost every night.
His eyes were full of horror as he felt their claws on his legs – pulling him closer – deeper in the dark and deep water.
He still tried everything – but his body just wouldn‘t move.
As the water reached his abdomen he knew it was hopeless – no one would come and safe him.
Their claws were cutting in his legs, and he saw their teeth – their mouths were wide open – ready to devour their prey – but the sirens still looked so pretty.
If he wasn‘t in such an situation he was sure he would pop an boner – but not in this type of situation.
The deep water swallowed him almost entirely, he took a deep breath as it reached his neck.
As soon as he felt the first pair of fangs on his right leg he knew he was bleeding and that it would probably lure other sirens to try to get a bite.
He felt pain and it was almost enough for him to pass out, his body wanted to give up but his mind kept on fighting.
The dark water around him got a tone deeper with all of the blood he lost.
He lost track of how many times they ripped at his flesh and he was sure that he would die in a few minutes due to all the blood loss.
But his mind told him to stay awake, to look at everything, to notice how cold the water was against his touch.
His mind told him to catch a glimpse of everything before he would die – because it was his last chance to do so.
As the ocean swallowed him he closed his eyes – he had given up – and he was sure that he would die any second.
And thats when everything stopped.
As he woke up, he shivered but he didn‘t feel the cold.
Was this heaven?
Everything was bright.
It was relaxing, not a single thought was in his head.
Not a single sound disturbed him.
No one was at his side – he was completely alone.
But he wasn‘t lonely – or was he?
He couldn‘t tell – he couldn‘t even tell if he did feel anything.
As he tried to concentrate – his eyebrows began to knit in pain.
Oh – there is the pain he felt as he died.
Was this normal? He always thought you wouldn‘t feel anything in heaven.
Or was he in Hell?
He couldn‘t concentrate more as he heard loud sobbing – and thats when he snapped out of his trance.
„Are you awake?“ a voice sobbed and after a good minute of thinking and fighting of staying awake he realized it was the voice of felix.
„Please tell me you are awake!“ the siren sobbed.
„Please don‘t die!“ he yelled while tears streamed down the sirens face.
Changbin wanted to wipe his tears away, but he couldn‘t move.
„Yes.“ was the only answer he managed to bring out before coughing a mix of water and blood.
„Don‘t move!“ yelled Felix panicked, his delicate small hands were pressed on his stomach.
To stop his bleeding Changbin thought.
„Love, you can‘t help me.“ Changbin whispered.
But Felix didn‘t want to listen to him, the siren just cried while shaking his head.
„I told you not to come back!“ Felix almost choked on his own tears.
„And i still came..“ answered Changbin quietly.
„Because..“ Changbin tried, but all the pain was too much and he just moaned out of pain.
„Shh.. don‘t“ Felix tried to calm the Pirate down, but it wasn‘t affective because Felix himself was the one that needed to calm down the most.
„Don‘t leave me!“ the siren begged.
„Please.. don‘t die on me.“ delicate Hands pressed harder, but the blood didn‘t seem to stop.
„You – you can‘t-“ Changbin coughed.
„No!“ Felix yelled, his blue eyes were full of tears.
„Come here.“ Changbin whispered.
„It‘s my last wish.“ Changbin spoke, the world around him began to get blurry.
Felix tried to complain but no words left his lips, he just nodded and laid down beside the dying pirate, his hand was caressing his cheek softly.
„I love you.“ whispered Changbin, and he smiled while saying it.
„I love you too“ Felix said between choked sobs.
„Thought so.“ joked Changbin with his last strenght.
As Felix felt Changbins body get colder and colder, he looked up to see that the Pirate had his eyes closed with an smile on his lips.
Felix himself was sobbing harder than before, grabbing his hands and checking for a pulse – but there was nothing – just the cold skin of the Pirate that had died on his side.
„I love you so much“ Felix mourned and his tears never stopped streaming down his face.
Chan knew – Changbin had gone his path when his best friend didn‘t show up after two whole days.
It hurt – more than he imagined – but he knew that it was Changbin‘s decicion, and that he needed to accept it – in the position of his best friend.
The story of Changbin and Felix – two soulmates – sailed all around the world.
You may wonder: What happened to Felix?
And to tell you the truth: Felix was loyal, he never fell in love with someone else, and he never left Changbins side.
He was staying beside him until Death ended his own suffering.
And that‘s the story, they were so in love with each other – that Felix waited for his own death to be with Changbin.
Now, they are together – swimming in the ocean.
And if you try to listen a little bit more precise – you can hear their laughing in the crashing waves.
