We have to work together

Summary:

Ok! Kohaku would be the first to say it. This wasn’t her best moment…

Kohaku had some time before her next lecture and decided to use that time to actually get some work done for her essay. Kohaku got heavy cream coffee and took a seat. Kohaku reached into her bag to grab her computer from her bag but someone cougar her eye. Well, the other bright updo pink hair. Homura Momiji casually sipping tea, and luckily it seemed like Homura had yet to see her. Kohaku’s Ex seemed to focus on her phone to notice her.

Notes:

"Kohaku asks Amaryllis to be her fake girlfriend so that she can make her ex-girlfriend homura jealous but then Kohaku ends up falling for Amaryllis"
Sorry! it'll only be 2 or 3 chapters long I promise. I just feel bad for not getting this request done quicker... so here is the first part.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter 1: How to make a Homura Jealous

Chapter Text

Kohaku didn’t hateeee Homura, but they didn’t really end on good terms but Kohaku was a tad bit jealous that Homura moved on so quickly from their year long relationship but no way that affected her. Soon a tall silver-haired man sat across from Homura. Homura put down her phone to look at the man and smiled.

“Thanks, Hyoga,” Homura took the pastry bag the masked man offered her.

Yeah, Kohaku was so calm. It had only been 3 weeks and Homura had already moved on and this Hyoga guy was already getting Homura her favorite cookie from this cafe?

Fine then. The next girl that walks in is my date.

It was honestly a half thought out plan but that was going to stop Kohaku. Kohaku watched the door to see who was going to be the next person to walk in the door. It took a few seconds but someone walked in the cafe. The familiar curly black hair made Kohaku quietly groan.

“Why her?” Kohaku face-plamed.

Amaryllis, a third year student who was in Kohaku’s fashion lecture. Kohaku’s first year in the class she had been the top in that class. When Amaryllis showed up, an unspoken rivalry started between the two. At first, fashion was just a class Kohaku was taking for fun on top of being on the track team but Kohaku’s competitive spirit wasn’t going to let her beats.

Even now… Amaryllis stood in the line for coffee and Kohaku decided to make her move. At least it wasn’t someone random… Kohaku stood up from her table and walked up behind Amaryllis. Kohaku tapped the shorter girl on the shoulder. Amaryllis turned to look at Kohaku and an instant look of confusion crossed her face.

“What do you want?” Amaryllis asked, seeming rather annoyed.

“Just go along for a second will you?” Kohaku whipsed, her tone matching Amaryllis’s. “There you are,” Kohaku stated, locking Amaryllis’s arm in hers. “I was wondering what was taking you so long,” Kohaku tried to speak in a sweet tone where it wasn’t clear she was trying to get Homura’s attention but loud enough to be heard.

“Uhh yeah.” Amaryllis hesitated.

Kohaku took Amaryllis back to the spot where she had been sitting. Amaryllis sat down across from Kohaku, facing Homura. Amaryllis’s acting skills were always impressive. The other put on a fake smile and molded right into the role.

“Hey, sorry I’m late,” Amaryllis apologized. “Professor held us back,”

“Hey it’s ok,” Kohaku brushed off. “That professor always has a stick up their ass,” Kohaku commented, having no idea what class Amaryllis came from.

“Ohh you don’t know the half of it,” Amaryllis dramatically sighed. “Always work, more work and assignments,”

“Well, yeah but I think it might be better now,” Amaryllis reached across the table and put her hand on Kohaku’s.

It took a lot of strength for Kohaku not to pull her hand away.

For the act Kohaku, For the act.

“Well aren’t you the charmer?” Kohaku mummed.

Kohaku heard footsteps before the sound of the door closing was able to be heard.

“Well the pink haired girl who was giving me the death glare and the guy are gone,” Amaryllis dropped the sweet tone in her words.

“Hehe,” Kohaku snickered.

“For some reason, I feel like I know exactly what your relationship to her is,” Amaryllis rolled her eyes. “Honestly, I didn’t think you were that petty,”
“Hey, petty or not, I’d say it was worth it,” Kohaku hummed.

“Whatever,” Amaryllis stood up. “Can I go now?”

“Sure,” Kohaku brushed her ponytail off her shoulder.

“Well as I hope you all know, your midterms are coming up,” Koahku’s fashion professor told the class. “And I know many of your other classes are having Exams but for his class we do things differently. You will pick a pattern and you two will design an outfit for a ball,” THe professor explained.

Awwww crap.

Last year Minami had been in Kohaku’s class and they’d always pair up for projects like this, but since Minami graduated Kohaku was dreading this day. She knew a few people but no one. She'd call a friend. Kohaku pinched the bridge of her nose before letting out a sigh and looking around her… AND EVERYONE HAD A PARTNER?! Kohaku wished she could just disappear into her hoodie.

Maybe if everyone gets a partner maybe I won’t need one… Yeah that’s not going to happen.

Kohaku stood up to look for a partner but everyone seemed to already be sitting in pairs. “Great,” The professor clapped their hands. Kohaku felt relieved for a second “Amaryllis and Kohaku, you two partner up then,” And Kohaku's heart dropped. Kohaku turned her head to where Amaryllis was sitting and saw Amaryllis was looking right back at her. “Now that we got that figured out, this project will be a royal ball theme. Normally it would be a dress or suit in a Victorian style. I’ll give you more freedom on this one because I really want to see what you come up with. One of you will also have to model the outfit,”  Both looked at each other from behind their canvas. No words needed to be said, they could both tell neither wanted to move from their spot to the others. Whoever moved first would be the one caving in. “That’s all. Class dismissed,” The lecturer dismissed.

People started to get out of their seats and leave and as much as Kohaku didn’t want to be paired up with Amaryllis, at that moment she didn’t want to be in the room just glaring at Amaryllis all day. Kohaku caved in and walked over to where Amaryllis was sitting, making sure not to make eye contact.

“Whatever you're going to say, I’m probably thinking the same,” Kohaku stated.

“Good,” Amaryllis sat up. “Because I think it’s a good idea,”

“Exactly-,” Kohaku stopped herself. “What?”

“We’re both the top students in this class,” Amaryllis pointed out as she grabbed her book bag and put her sketchbook inside. “I don’t see how that’s a bad thing,”

“Don’t you hate me?”

“Hate is a strong word but yes,” Amaryllis put her bag on her shoulder. “That said… I’m in this class to learn unlike like one of us,”

“And here I thought we might actually get along,” Kohaku sighed. “Just give me your number,”

“I thought you said you two were rivals,” Gen pointed out, taking a break from drinking his bubble tea.

“Well, I thought we were,” Kohaku groaned to her friend. “She always glares at me in class so I guess I just assumed… but now I don’t know,”

“Are you sure she just doesn’t like you ,” Chelsea emphasized the “you” to make her point.

“Kohaku chan, you can sometimes come off a bit harsh you know,”  Gen added.

“I know,” Kohaku sighed. “Homura said the same thing,” she mumbled.
