Unbothered

Summary:

Popular students Jimin and Taehyung cannot contain their love for their precious Namjoon hyung, which made a large proportion of the student population green with envy. Refusing to believe that Jimin and Taehyung would pick a random transfer student out of all people, one student decides to take action.

However, unfortunately for that student, Kim Namjoon is an unbothered king.

Notes:

Work Text:

Woojin could feel air escaping from his lungs the moment he lays his eyes on the two most gorgeous men that had just entered the library. Woojin wasn’t the only one gaping holes at Park Jimin and Kim Taehyung, their beauty illuminating in glory.

The two sophomores are basically celebrities in this college. Every student attending this university has heard or seen the pair; and most of them have only positive things to say about them. The only ones that spew negative things are jealous, insecure losers. But Woojin is not one of them. Like at least 98% of the students in the university, he greatly admires and desires the two.

Park Jimin is a literal dream, everyone’s ideal type of a significant other. He is sweet, smart, sexy, charming, and so, so caring. Jimin is someone who never forgets a face and always greets you with a warm smile. And when he does smile, it takes an extra effort to stand properly after that. If Jimin’s gorgeous looks can kill, his smile on top of that is overkill.

And he is their school’s all-rounder-- not only is he one of the top students in academia, but he is their school’s pride and joy when it comes to the arts. Jimin is a phenomenal contemporary dancer, representing his school multiple times in national competitions and sometimes being requested to dance on professional stages college dancers could only dream of being on. There are thousands who would pay to go to their university’s dance shows just to see Jimin in his stage outfit and dance-- it’s no exaggeration that every audience member in the room gets mesmerized by Jimin’s elegant moves.

The taller, blue haired man next to him is the stunning Kim Taehyung, also known as V on the internet. Taehyung is a social media star, known for his engaging vlogs, mind blowing covers, and so much more content he could provide. Just like Jimin, Taehyung is also a man with many talents, insane good looks, and a heart of gold. Taehyung is not only thoughtful, but he is attentive, friendly, fun, and just so kind. He is the kind of guy who would randomly pay for the person behind him their drink at a coffee shop, and everyone loves him for it.

Yet, despite his kind heart and wonderful charisma, he is unapproachable at times. His good looks are almost unreal to most who first lay their eyes on Kim Taehyung. His face is striking with deep eyes, perfect nose, and sharp jaw. Add his deep, rich voice, it is nearly impossible to not get intimidated by.

And that’s how the infamous duo came to be. Needless to say, they easily became the hot topic of the school when they first transferred and then became the most sought-after boyfriends. However, it wasn’t too long before it was announced that the two were dating. Despite that the top two most desired men were taken, not many of the students actually minded-- it’s even better to see the two together with how fitting they look as a couple. Against what was expected after this event, an even larger surge of people began to pine after the duo even more than before.

It’s like Jimin and Taehyung is everyone’s one true pairing that they all agree should come true yet have no shame in wanting to be in it-- who wouldn’t?

Woojin sighs dreamily as Jimin and Taehyung make their way inside the library. Woojin was in the middle of studying for his history exam that was coming up this week, and he was happy to take a break to drink in this glorious sight.

The library grows quieter as the two begin wandering around the room. The side chatter disappears, and all eyes land on the show-stealing duo. Finally, the flashy couple stops at a certain location.

Then, Woojin’s dream-like trance breaks just like that when Jimin and Taehyung find their target of interest-- Kim Namjoon.

When Kim Namjoon suddenly intrudes in his vision, Woojin scowls. He takes a quick glance around his surroundings and sees that other people had the similar, sour expressions.

Hmph. It’s that guy again.

While Jimin and Taehyung were always the hot topic of their school, another person is slowly crawling up there in the top, and that is Kim Namjoon, a junior who transferred this year. How did this guy, who was supposed to be just a nobody, garnered all the attention? It was because the school’s hot couple started to pay attention towards him.

Woojin’s scowl grows deeper as he watches Jimin and Taehyung grab chairs next to the glasses-wearing man. He almost snaps his pencil in two when the couple’s smile widens at whatever Namjoon was saying.

Many students who were witnessing this scene all held the same thought: who does this man think he is? Woojin and several other devoted admirers of Vmin (a nickname given by the masses for Jimin and Taehyung) are convinced that Namjoon must have bribed them with something. Or he is using some kind of underhanded tricks to have most of Vmin’s attention. Whatever Namjoon did, Woojin will not accept that this transfer student can get Vmin’s favor that easily.

Vmin is their university’s untouchable couple. There is no room for a random, nerdy transfer student who did not even witness all the glory and honor Vmin gained for their university and their fellow students.

And so, Woojin makes a face when he catches in the corner of his eye a particularly horrifying scene: Namjoon being placed on Jimin’s lap. Bright red but unable to fight off a smile, Namjoon tries to struggle away from Jimin, but the smaller man wraps his arms around the giant student almost possessively. Taehyung, sitting across from the two, only smiles with fondness in his eyes. Soon, Namjoon is basically snuggling into Jimin’s neck, giggling softly while Jimin affectionately pets his hair.

The pencil on Woojin’s hand snaps. That’s it. Woojin has decided.

He’s going to take down Kim Namjoon, and he’s going to do so after Jimin and Taehyung leave this building.

“Minnie, it’s almost time for your rehearsal.” Jimin pouts behind him, and his arms around his waist tightens.

“Why are you trying so hard to keep me away from you?” Jimin whines.

Namjoon giggles, “That’s not true. I’m happy you and Tae are here, but you guys both should go soon. I also need to study.”

Taehyung joins in his boyfriend’s pout. “I can help with your studies, hyung. I may not look like it, but I have the top grades in psychology.”

“I wouldn’t be surprised, Tae! And I know you both can help me, but you two have things to do as well. I’ll be fine, so you guys better be on your way,” Namjoon urges, glancing at his watch. Jimin has rehearsal in 5 minutes while Taehyung has another class in about 10 minutes. The two should head out by now.

But upon seeing the two sophomores’ pouts grow, Namjoon sighs in defeat and suggests, “We can hang out again afterwards? Maybe at my dorm?” Namjoon tries not to blush on the act of inviting the two to his dorm. It’s hard to believe to this day that he has the privilege to call these gorgeous men friends, very good friends to be a little more exact. Okay, it’s obvious that they are more than just friends these days, but none of them had put a label to their relationship just yet. Namjoon knows the two are trying to find the right timing to discuss the nature of their current relationship again . They have briefly talked about it a couple of times, but Namjoon somehow managed to avoid the actual, full confrontation.

It’s not like he’s afraid. He no longer doubts the two are indeed crushing on him and wants him to join their relationship. He’s just not ready. Namjoon is perfectly content with what they have now (a really close, flirty couple of friends) and he is certain that they will have an official label to their relationship soon.

Just not now.

Both Jimin and Taehyung’s fight lit up from Namjoon’s invite. Squeezing Namjoon into a tighter embrace, Jimin cutely asks, “Promise?”

“I promise Minnie, Tae Tae. As long as you guys make it to your rehearsal and your class.”

“On it!” The two boyfriends simultaneously yell.

“Shh! We are at a library!” Namjoon scolds yet beams at their cuteness.

“Sorry!” At least Taehyung has the decency to look guilty. Namjoon shakes his head fondly and hops off from Jimin’s lap. Taehyung then grabs Jimin's hand to help him up from his seat as Namjoon returns to his rightful chair.

Before Namjoon could put his headphones on to resume his studying session, both Jimin and Taehyung grab his hands. With large, round puppy eyes, the two beg, “What about a goodbye kiss?”

Namjoon’s face turns bright red once more. A goodbye kiss? They never asked him that before, always the one giving him kisses rather than requesting one from him. Stuttering quietly, Namjoon tries to refuse them, “W-we are in a public place guys. A-and it’s getting late…”

Taehyung does a dramatic gasp. “Did you hear that Minnie? That means Joon hyung is willing to give us a kiss if we aren't in a public place.”

Jimin then smirks. “I guess since Joonie is more than okay with giving us a kiss at more of a private place, then we can let him during our hang out tonight, right?”

“That sounds like a great plan, Minnie. Don’t you think so, Joonie hyung?”

It was Namjoon’s turn to pout. The two shitheads planned out this scenario, huh? Crossing his arms, Namjoon huffs, “I don’t like you guys. Bye!”

Taehyung only laughs, his deep voice making Namjoon shudder. “We love you too, hyung. We’ll be waiting for our kiss later tonight!”  And the two breathtaking sophomores march their way out the library doors.  Cheeks still warm from the duo’s flirting and affection, Namjoon exhales and turns a page to his textbook.

He has yet to evaluate how he is where he is with Jimin and Taehyung, but he is happy and maybe a little in love. The two truly helped him settle, making him forget the pain and sacrifices he made in transferring schools. And now, Namjoon has no regrets in moving school despite being a junior.

Giggling to himself softly, Namjoon pushes his glasses back up to the bridge of his nose. Too invested in his textbook, Namjoon doesn’t notice multiple pairs of eyes around the entire library trying to steal glances at him right after Jimin and Taehyung’s departure. He also doesn’t notice a shadow lurking behind him with eyes full of envy and hatred.

Woojin eyes his prey, who has his nose buried inside his textbook. Woojin seethes soundlessly when he hears Namjoon giggling to himself. Oh how Woojin wants to wipe that smirk off from his mouth.

Marching to Kim Namjoon’s table with no proper plan (not that Woojin cares), Woojin shocks everyone in the room when he plops himself on a chair across from the glasses-wearing junior with a rather loud thud.

Woojin makes sure he was glaring menacingly at the student with a deep frown that would surely intimate anyone casually passing by. Woojin wants to scare Namjoon. He wants Namjoon to know that he is not going to stand here any longer, seeing the two people he so admired being seduced by a loser like Kim Namjoon.

However, no such reaction came.

Woojin couldn’t maintain his once stoic face, too shocked and stunned from Namjoon’s reaction, or perhaps the lack of reaction. Despite roughly pulling the chair back and dropping his heavy textbook on the table, Kim Namjoon did not flinch nor even looked up to see who made such disruptive noises.

Instead, the nerdy student still has his nose buried in his textbook, writing some notes down in his notebook. Of course, Woojin is ticked off from his failed attempt to intimidate his enemy. Growling, Woojin slams open the textbook, causing a repetitive echo across the quiet room. Still, Kim Namjoon does not look up.

Woojin had it.

“I saw your little stunt there, Kim Namjoon,” Woojin begins. His smirk returns when Namjoon snaps his head up to meet his eyes.

Tipping his head slightly to the side in confusion, Namjoon asks, “Oh, hello there. What is this stunt you are talking about?”

Woojin growls, “Don’t act innocent. We all saw you just now.” Woojin doesn’t want to start a commotion in a quiet place like a library, but oh badly wants to slug Namjoon’s face when he continues to look innocent and confused. That bastard is mocking him, isn’t he?!

“Hmm.” In all the months he’s been silently raging behind Kim Namjoon’s back, his fury was sky rocketing to the max when Kim Namjoon had the audacity to look back down to his textbook with almost a bored look on his face. Writing a couple of more notes in his notebook, Namjoon only says, “I’m sorry, but I think you are talking to the wrong person. I don’t think I did any stunts in the past hour. I wish you luck though.”

It takes all of Woojin’s willpower to not just explode there. Tossing aside his original plan to act coy, Woojin yells in a whisper like tone, “Don’t play dumb with me, Kim Namjoon! You think I’m blind to see what you’re doing to Jimin and Taehyung? I’ll give you a warning right now. If you continue to seduce the school’s idols, you’ll be sorry.” Hushed whispers increased in volume after Woojin’s threat towards Namjoon. While Woojin wasn’t the only one who feels this way towards Namjoon, he was the only one who had actually confronted Namjoon in such a direct manner.

Woojin somewhat feels a bit proud for threatening his enemy this forwardly, unlike others who did in the past in a subtle, cowardly manner.

And so, Woojin smirks once again. Except, his smirk died as soon as it began to form.

Humming to whatever song he was listening to, Namjoon was writing away on his notebook with headphones on top of his ears. Fucking hell…

Then, Woojin can feel anger bubbling inside him when Namjoon takes off his headphones and asks with innocent eyes, “I’m sorry, were you saying something?”

Yep. Woojin is now forming an intricate plan to squish Namjoon like a bug. This guy is actually mocking him.

Cracking his knuckles and barely holding his need to shout, Woojin says to the fellow junior, “I’m going to let you go for now, Kim Namjoon. But mark my words, if you ever so go close to Jimin and Taehyung again, I will make you pay.”

And Woojin leaves at that note. Without bothering to collect his own textbook, Woojin slungs his backpack behind his back and stomps away from the table without hearing Namjoon’s response.

“But I’m hanging with Jiminie and Taehyungie at my place tonight. What will I be paying for?” If Woojin had the patience to stay around just seconds longer and then hear Namjoon’s answer, he would have surely lost it.

Namjoon quickly forgets about his encounter with the weird, split haired guy at the library. Why would he care about that weirdo when he was so excited to hang out with Jimin and Taehyung at his place tonight?

Arriving at his single dorm room 30 minutes before Jimin and Taehyung would arrive, Namjoon dutifully cleans his room and orders pizza. He deserves a good reward for successfully studying the material needed for this upcoming exam.

And so, Namjoon enjoys his night with his two favorite men in the world, drowned in their kisses and giving their kiss just as THEY requested (Namjoon stubbornly refuses to admit that he was the one to request to kiss them).

In the end, Jimin and Taehyung decided to stay the night, all three sleeping on Namjoon’s bed. Though it was cramped with having three bodies in that small bed, Namjoon couldn’t ask for anything more than to be snuggled between his Jiminie and Taehyungie.

He loved moments like these, being so tenderly loved, cared for, and cherished. Jimin would whisper sweet, sweet praises next to his ear as Taehyung would stroke his hair lovingly and trace his lips around his neck. Namjoon falls asleep right away like this, feeling so relaxed and content.

While the rest of the school may start a war if they ever find out what they do on nights like these, the trio snuggle together without any care.

Pride wounded from his first encounter with Namjoon, Woojin decides to launch a series of attacks against the tall student the following week. It took Woojin a week for his all out counter attack because this time, Woojin wants to be prepared. He will not get humiliated this time, and he will bring Kim Namjoon down.

So, Woojin begins with a couple of senior girls who were infamous for being the “Mean Girls” of the campus. All three ladies were breathtakingly beautiful, yet had an icy glare that could literally freeze someone to shock. The trio was also known for their love for Vmin. Though they were rejected countless of times, the Mean Girls will not go for any other men less than the school’s idols.

Woojin takes cover behind some bushes, a hiding spot he personally claimed, as Kim Namjoon begins walking down the path where the Mean Girls will soon intercept him. The nerdy junior was alone right now; he always was when returning back from his linguistic class. Woojin peeks through the bushes, anticipating the moment Namjoon walks past the Mean Girls, who were standing idly by a wooden bench.

Hmm, Woojin thinks, Kim Namjoon is wearing that tight fitted slacks with that jean jacket again. On top of that, he still continues to wear that annoying, thickly rimmed glasses, which somehow makes his entire look a bit-- Woojin furiously shakes his head to extinguish his lingering observations on his enemy. The show is about to begin!

When Namjoon is now only a couple feet away from the Mean Girls, the female students begin to giggle. Namjoon pays no mind to the giggling trio, casually walking past them. However, as soon as he passes them, the Mean Girls begin to giggle obnoxiously, laughing and pointing fingers at the unaware Namjoon.

“Oh my god, no way, that’s him?” one of the Mean Girls says.

Her friend giggles, “Yeah! Who knew he would look like that!”

And finally, the third one shamelessly shouts, “Jimin and Taehyung must be pitying him.” And the trio continue to laugh and laugh, still pointing fingers at Namjoon who now stopped his tracks to see what was all the fuss about. Bystanders that saw the whole scene immediately knew what was going on, and some could only look at Namjoon with sympathy in their eyes. The Mean Girls are vicious. There was nothing innocent bystanders could do to stop this situation.

Despite it being obvious that the Mean Girls were making fun of Namjoon, it takes an extra minute for Namjoon that the pretty senior girls were laughing at him. Upon that realization, Namjoon blushes. Smiling shyly (which both Woojin and the Mean Girls immediately frowned when seeing his smile), Namjoon mumbles, “Haha, are you guys laughing at me?”

One of the girls with long hair crosses her arms with a glare that could make a self-proclaimed alpha male shudder. “Duh. Of course we are. Who else would Jimin and Taehyung pity?” The two girls beside her cackle at that, one putting her hand over mouth and the other pointing at Namjoon again.

Namjoon’s smile never falters. Instead, Namjoon chuckles back much to everyone’s surprise. Then, he says to them bashfully, “I guess you’re right! Who knows how many times they rip their hair out because of my clumsiness.”

The trio’s laughter dies down in utter shock. What the hell is this underclassman saying?

“What the hell, no--” one of the Mean Girls tries to correct Namjoon.

Namjoon glances at his watch again and gasps, “Oh no, I’m almost late for my next class!” He whirls around, but turns his head back at the stunned senior girls. “Well, I’m glad that I can give you girls a good laugh! Have a great day!” With that, Namjoon sprints away from the scene, grinning happily as if he accomplished something great.

In the meantime, Woojin and the Mean Girls groan in frustration. One of the girls got so enraged, one of her high heels snapped in two.

The next attack is simple. If verbal attacks won’t humiliate Kim Namjoon, Woojin would just have to settle for the classic. He won't stop until Kim Namjoon admits his wrongdoing. After all, Woojin already gave Namjoon a warning to last week, so the guy is basically asking for this.

Woojin, hiding yet in another bush, watches as one of his allies approaches Namjoon. This time, Woojin chose to recruit a freshman, who was more than willing to volunteer. This freshman only applied to this school to attend the same school as Kim Taehyung, his celebrity-like crush. The freshman was fine with Park Jimin dating his crush, but just as the others, he was not fine with a random, transfer student getting all the love and attention from V.

This time, they were at an outside cafe, so it was pretty crowded. Namjoon was on his way to go grab a cup of coffee before going to his advanced political science class (wait, why does this dude take such difficult courses?) when the freshman intercepted him. It was scorching hot today, and the freshman had three bottles of sprite in his arms.

Smiling brightly at his upperclassman, the freshman says, “Hello! I’m giving away free sprites since it’s so hot today! Would you like some?”

Namjoon’s grins. “Actually, I would, thank you!” The freshman hands him a bottle and Namjoon exclaims, “Wow, it’s cold! Thank you again, I really need this right now.” The freshman smiles devilishly. However, Namjoon doesn’t catch the freshman’s malice. The two turn to the opposite directions, the freshman dashing to another person while Namjoon walks away from the cafe. Namjoon suddenly drops his bottle, and quickly bends down to pick it up. Then, the unaware tall student begins to open the lid to his soda.

Woojin, along with a handful of bystanders in the area, laughs in glee when the bottle explodes in Namjoon’s face. The clear, bubbling liquid splashes all over Namjoon’s pretty face, glasses, and his white, see-through dress shirt. Namjoon’s ears turn pink when his eyes trail down his clothes, realizing in horror that everyone can see his upper body. Woojin almost chokes from his laughter when he notices that Namjoon wasn’t wearing any undergarment right now-- his enemy’s smooth, honey brown skin is showing its glory to the world. Before Woojin could admire--no-- grimace at Namjoon’s upper body, the laughter subsides when a loud voice yells, “Namjoon hyung!”

Against Woojin’s expectations, Kim Taehyung suddenly comes running to Namjoon’s side, face filled with worry. Woojin, along with all the bystanders in the area, can only shut their mouths when one of the school’s beloved idols arrives at the scene.

Not caring for anyone other than Namjoon at the moment, Taehyung exclaims, “Hyung, why are you all wet? Are you okay? Did someone do this to you?”

Namjoon blinks rapidly before processing his thoughts. He shakes his head and smiles softly at the handsome student, “No. I’m fine, Tae. I should have expected the soda to explode when I dropped it earlier, haha.” Taehyung glances at the bottle on his hyung’s hands, then quickly scans his surroundings. The bystanders around him avoid his gaze, and so Taehyung shifts his focus back to his hyung. Namjoon caps the bottle and puts it in one of his backpack pockets with a sigh, “Ahh, now my clothes are all wet and sticky. I’m gonna go get a towel inside the cafe, I'll be right back--”

“Wait Joon hyung.” Taehyung stops Namjoon by holding onto one of his wrists. Namjoon glances at Taehyung with a confused look on his face, and then blushes when he sees the younger harshly staring at his soaked blouse. Becoming more shy by the second, Namjoon tries to cover himself with his arms with a sheepish smile.

“Wrong choice of clothes today, huh?” Namjoon whispers.

“I’ll say,” Taehyung says back as he removes his cotton jacket. The bystanders, who were silent during this exchange, watch with their eyes bulging out when Taehyung puts his expensive jacket over Namjoon’s shoulders. Beneath Taehyung’s cotton jacket was only an undershirt, which the internet star rarely wears since he was never a big fan of showing his shoulders.

Namjoon tries to give back Taehyung’s clothes. “Aww, thanks Tae, but it’s okay. I don’t want your expensive jacket to get sticky and wet too.”

Taehyung only brings a single arm around Namjoon’s shoulders and scoffs, “You must be crazy for thinking that I would allow my precious hyung walk around half naked in public.” Without lowering the volume of his voice, Taehyung then winks, “That view is for Jimin’s and my eyes only.”

The freshman wants to cry in agony while Namjoon’s face flushes deep red.

“T-Tae!” Taehyung laughs, eyes turning so soft and tender towards the person of his affections. And of course, that got the freshman rage in jealousy.

“T-Taehyungie hyung!” the freshman suddenly blurts. His eyes widen from his sudden shout, and both Namjoon and Taehyung turn their heads toward the freshman’s direction.

Noticing immediately the soda bottles in his arms, something shifts in Taehyung’s eyes. Smiling rigidly, Taehyung says to the freshman, “It’s Taehyung sunbae to you.” The freshman pales, realizing that he spoke out of line to his crush. The truth was, he had never spoken with Taehyung at all, only endearingly calling his crush as hyung in his head. The freshman snaps back to reality when Taehyung speaks again, “Anyway, what’s up? Make it quick cause I gotta walk my hyung back to his dorm.”

The freshman gulps, eyes frantically glancing from Taehyung to his worst enemy, Kim Namjoon, who was looking almost nonchalant. Gritting his teeth when seeing Namjoon clutching onto Taehyung’s hand, the freshman dismisses himself, “I’m sorry. It’s nothing.”

Taehyung doesn’t spare the freshman another glance, and the underclassman wanted to cry right then and there. The majority of the bystanders at the cafe watch enviously as Taehyung walks away from the area, walking hand in hand with Namjoon.

Meanwhile, Woojin bangs his fist to the grass in fury. He has, once again, failed to humiliate Kim Namjoon.

It is time to bring the big guns. Dongwoo, a sophomore who is widely known to have a huge crush on both Jimin and Taehyung, is up next. Dongwoo is as tall as Namjoon, and he is just as fierce and menacing as his height. Dongwoo had been itching to release his anger on Kim Namjoon, and today is the day.

Woojin hides behind a rose bush near the intersection between the heart of the campus and the junior dorms. Kim Namjoon was returning to his dorm from his last class, and Woojin knows that both Jimin and Taehyung are busy at this time. It's a perfect chance to attack Namjoon without any interruptions.

This should do it. Dongwoo isn't like the others; he will get to the point. Kim Namjoon will have no choice but to take Dongwoo’s barrage of attacks.

Woojin clenches his fist in anticipation as Namjoon is seen walking towards the four way street. Dongwoo is already there, waiting for the target.

When Namjoon arrives at the stop sign, Dongwoo emerges behind a limelight and says with a loud voice, “Well aren’t ya daring?” Namjoon seemingly ignores Dongwoo’s question and looks straight ahead to the other street.

Irritated, Dongwo growls while crossing his arms, “Who do you think you are, being so high and mighty just because Jimin and Taehyung have some interest in you right now. Don’t get so cocky. Once they had their fun with you, they’ll drop you instantly. They have no room for a third party, especially someone as lame as you.” Woojin smirks, wondering how the smart, kinda cute, junior would respond to that (no, Woojin does not realize that he had just called his enemy smart and cute).

However, much to both Dongwoo and Woojin’s dismay, Namjoon shows no interest in Dongwoo. Pulling out his phone from his pocket, Namjoon switches a song in his playlist, deliberately ignoring Dongwoo and his nonsensical remarks.

“I wonder if I should go to my dorm first or head to Jiminie’s rehearsal to surprise him,” Namjoon mutters to himself, deep in thought.

Dongwoo, now beyond pissed, hollers at the top of his lungs, “You fucker! Just wait until I get my hands on you! You are not special! Jimin and Taehyung will get bored of you soon, just like they did with everyone else! You’re just another play thing they toss around. Just because they are keeping you longer than the others, it doesn’t mean anything!” When Namjoon still does not even blink from Dongwoo outburst, the sophomore finally screams, “Answer me, bastard!”

Once again, the bystanders who witnessed this scene only watched. Some were at loss at what to do while others were shamelessly anticipating how Namjoon would respond to that. There was no way Namjoon didn’t hear any of that with how Dongwoo was shouting.

Indeed, Namjoon finally pulls out the airpods from his ears and turns to face Woojin, who is now standing up straight, eyes glaring into Namjoon’s. The anticipation among the audience and Woojin increases exponentially when Namjoon opens his mouth. However, what he says to Dongwoo was completely unexpected.

“I don’t know what you are shouting about, but if you want to talk to someone, you should first address their name. Otherwise, how would I know that you’re talking to me?”

Dongwoo’s face turns red in anger. “Are you fucking mocking me?! You are going to regret it!”

Namjoon tips his head slightly to the side in confusion. “Why are you so mad? I apologize, I usually tune things out if I don’t hear my name when someone is yelling in my direction. If they are not looking into my eyes or addressing my name, then I assume they aren't talking to me.”

At this point, Woojin doesn’t know if Kim Namjoon is actually telling the truth, or if he was just fucking around to mock Dongwoo. Either way, Woojin totally understands how infuriating this behavior is. He almost couldn’t blame Dongwoo for exploding. Except, Woojin’s eyes widen in shock when Dongwoo nearly lunges at Namjoon.

Whether it was dumb luck or Namjoon actually expected this to happen, the junior spins his heels around and starts walking across the next street, elegantly dodging Dongwoo’s hand. However, Namjoon stops his tracks when he hears a loud cry of fury, turning around just to see Dongwoo roughly kicking a garbage can down.

Namjoon gasps, “Hey, no violence on campus! If you’re that mad, please take it out on your pillow. I promise you, you will feel better after doing that.” With that said, Namjoon puts back the garbage can upright and places all the trash that was thrown out back into the can.

Then, Namjoon goes in a big rant about how Dongwoo shouldn’t be irresponsible with the environment or with school properties. This was the first time anyone had seen Namjoon on a mad ramble, babbling on and on about littering, property damage, and then climate change. Dongwoo can only stand there, unable to escape from Namjoon’s passionate speech. So much random information and facts about the environment goes through one of Dongwoo’s ear and out from the other.

The speech lasts about 10 minutes, and everyone who was around the entire ten minutes had their heads spinning with the knowledge dump and lecture they just received.

Proud that he taught a student a valuable lesson about protecting the environment, Namjoon happily spins his heels again and skips back to his dorm, forgetting about the tension prior to this incident.

Woojin and Dongwoo leave the scene as well, both feeling utterly defeated.

“Hey Tae?”

“Hm? What is it, Min?”

Taehyung was currently in the driver’s seat, eyes looking ahead on the road. They were currently at a stop light, and unlucky for them, this area of school is heavy in traffic. The two were all dressed up, clad in makeup, fine jewelry, and their favorite clothing. While their current appearance would have anyone drop to their knees, the two boyfriends are only doing this for one man only: their beloved Namjoon hyung. The two promised to take their hyung out for dinner this weekend, and they are on their way to pick up their hopefully soon-to-be boyfriend.

Applying sparkling lip gloss on to his lips, Jimin smacks his lips before asking, “Have you heard of the recent rumors lately?”

“What kind of rumors?”

Jimin stares at the car mirror and then combs his glossy, pink hair. “Disturbing rumors. About our Joonie.” Taehyung takes his eyes off of the car in front of them and meets Jimin’s serious pair of eyes.

Tightening his grip onto the steering wheel, Taehyung asks in a low voice, “What happened?”

“Yesterday, one of the dancers from my rehearsal asked me if I heard about the drama that has been going on with Joonie.” Jimin sighs before continuing, “Of course I told her no. And she explained to me how some… some miserable low lives have been harassing Joonie this past week.”

Taehyung does not hesitate to ask, “Did she give any names?”

Jimin shakes his head, “Sadly, no. Apparently, she heard it from her friends who only heard it from other witnesses. The only person we can ask right now is Joonie himself.” The stop light turns green, and Taehyung shifts his attention back to the road.

Both Taehyung and Jimin knew this was coming, but they never knew when the bullying would start. They tried their best to give warning glares to any potential offenders. They also adjusted their schedules to have at least one of them walk Namjoon to his classes, but there were still few open opportunities for the offenders to attack their Namjoon hyung unprotected.

How stupid of them for leaving any open opportunities for anyone to attack their hyung.

“Shit, Minnie. I’m so mad and scared now.” Jimin places his hand on one of Taehyung’s pale, cold hands to comfort his soulmate.

“Me too, Tae Tae. I’m so angry too, but let’s put away our anger for the night. We will deal with this next week, okay? Once we can solve this issue, let’s finally ask him to be our boyfriend, yeah?” Jimin could see Taehyung jitter.

“R-really? Can we finally ask again? B-but what if Joonie says no-- ”

Jimin smiles softly and interrupts his boyfriend “Tae Tae, Joonie never said no to us. He said that he wants to save this talk for later. If he still wants to take more time, we will give it to him. You will wait for our Joonie, right?”

Taehyung nods fervently, “I’ll wait however long it takes. I love him so much.”

“I love him so much too. But let’s protect him first and then make him officially ours. We have so many enemies and admirers, Tae. If we want to move forward with Namjoon hyung, we have to be more careful.”

“Of course.”

Namjoon excitedly closes the door behind and runs out of his dormitory. There, standing in front of their expensive car at the parking lot are his two favorite people, Jimin and Taehyung. And wow. The two are looking even more dashing than ever.

As Namjoon arrives in their car, Namjoon has to suck in his breath from the glorious sight of the two sophomores. Jimin was wearing a black, leather jacket embroidered in glistening jewels. Underneath his jacket is a frilly white shirt, which complements his ripped, skinny jeans. Next to Jimin, just as breathtaking is Taehyung, who was wearing black blouse with frilly cuffs. On top of that elegant shirt was a forest green, robe-like jacket that made Taehyung look absolutely elegant.

The two are just too hot for his eyes right now.

“W-wow. You two look amazing,” Namjoon whispers, heart pounding against his chest.

Jimin smirks, holding one of his hands out in a gentleman-like manner. “What are you talking about, hyung? You are the most gorgeous here right now.”

Namjoon blushes deeply at that. “N-no…”

Taehyung opens the car door for Namjoon and holds his own hand out for Namjoon to take. “Jiminie is right. You are so beautiful, hyung. I can't believe we have the privilege to take you out to dinner today.”

Ah, these two. Furiously blushing now, Namjoon takes both Jimin and Taehyung's hand, and the two sophomores help Namjoon settle inside their car.

“T-thank you,” Namjoon squeaks as he buckles his seatbelt. Taehyung and Jimin take their own designated seats and chuckle.

“Of course hyungie. Ready to go?”

The first fifteen minutes of the car ride was just mindless chatter and a couple of jamming sessions. When Namjoon begins talking about how he felt good about the exam he had this week, Jimin thought it was time to ask the question.

“I’m glad you felt good about your exam hyungie,” Jimin tells Namjoon with a smile.

“Thanks, Minnie!”

Jimin then goes for it. “Say, Namjoon hyung?”

“Yes?”

“Anything else happened this week?”

“No, not really. Oh, I found another blue butterfly the other day! They’re so pretty.”

Jimin chuckles fondly, “Aww, that’s great. I was just wondering if anything is bothering you lately.”

“Anything bothering me?’

“Yes… For example, have there been people who have been bothering you this week?” Namjoon goes silent, furrowing his eyebrows, deep in thought. Taehyung quickly takes a glance in the rear mirror, patiently waiting for Namjoon’s response.

Namjoon taps his chin thoughtfully, “Hmm. I can’t think of anything that has been bothering me lately.”

“Oh. No one has been saying anything weird to you?”

“Nope! Everything’s been fine!” Jimin and Taehyung share a knowing glance.

Namjoon blinks his innocent eyes and asks, “Why? Is there something that should be bothering me?”

“No, no. Just wondering, hyungie. You don’t have to worry about it,” Taehyung quickly says.

Jimin adds, “It’s okay, Joonie hyung. We are just being a bit paranoid. Oh hey, look, we are almost there!” Namjoon squeals in excitement as Taehyung and Jimin share a knowing look once again.

Although it doesn’t seem like Namjoon is bothered by these people, Jimin and Taehyung should still look into it. And it looks like they have to dig up information elsewhere.

Fortunately for Jimin, Taehyung, and Namjoon, ever since Namjoon successfully “defeated” Dongwoo the other week, no one had any drive left to harass Namjoon any further.

Not even Woojin, who was the most involved in each of the harassment attempts. Namjoon is too strong of an opponent-- after each attack, that man just would not break.

Feeling defeated and overly humiliated, Woojin drops his body against a large tree trunk meters away from the school’s library. Woojin sighs for the umpteeth time, gazing into the clear blue sky. How did he lose this badly when his enemy wasn’t even trying? Woojin went all out and yet, he couldn’t even dent Kim Namjoon’s mentality.

Woojin sighs and starts to think, why was he even so worked up in the first place? He knows he has no chance with Park Jimin and Kim Taehyung in the first place. After all, they kindly rejected him last spring, and again the previous semester. And what Dongwoo said before was partially true. Jimin and Taehyung did play around for a brief period of time. They began to take some incredibly lucky people on dates, but those relationships didn’t last more than a week. So what was so different with Kim Namjoon other than him lasting about 3 months now with Jimin and Taehyung?

As Woojin continues to contemplate some more, he suddenly hears rustling noises beside him. Peeking an eye open, Woojin learns that the person who is now sitting next to Woojin against the same tree trunk is none other than Kim Namjoon.

Woojin sighs again, turning his body sideways, away from Kim Namjoon. He knows he should run, but he’s feeling so drained for some reason. And so he stays like this, laying against one of the tree’s roots as Kim Namjoon types away on his laptop.

The silence between them wasn’t too awkward, and Woojin could hear the music singing softly from Namjoon’s headphones. It’s a nice song, Woojin thinks, listening to the tune. He has never heard of it, but Woojin would definitely put this song in his own playlist.

After another 5 minutes or so, Namjoon removes his headphones. Woojin still hasn’t moved, eyes staring blankly at the puffy clouds. Guess he should just say it.

“You really are something,” Woojin mumbles, body still turned away from Namjoon’s. The sound of Namjoon’s typing grows softer. The bespectacled man doesn't say anything, but it’s clear that he is listening to Woojin. So Woojin continues, “I don’t know what I was thinking, but from the moment I first talked with ya, I should have known that it was my loss. You really have a strong mentality. It’s basically unbreakable.” Namjoon stops typing. Woojin closes his eyes, trying to focus on the sounds of the soft breeze since that was the only sound that could distract him now.

Then, Namjoon finally speaks. “That’s not quite true. I can be fragile at times.” Woojin flutters his eyes open. He doesn’t know how he had the courage to do this, but he slowly turns his body around to face Kim Namjoon. To his surprise, Namjoon is looking right at him, eyes twinkling, lips curved into a half-smile. Woojin couldn't help but hold his breath from the sight he was seeing. With his blonde hair glowing radiantly, his exposed, honey brown skin looking so smooth, and his lips, pink and luscious, Kim Namjoon is actually so dazzling.

And Woojin had no control over his mouth at that moment. “Do you know how hard I tried to get a reaction from you? I stooped so low to the point I let someone potentially dangerous go after you. Yet, you were so strong. Dongwoo couldn’t even say anything back that day, and he admitted defeat, which he never does. How do you do it?”

Namjoon shrugs casually. “Well, I have to have a strong mentality if I want to be a diplomat. Hmm, but my other career choice is being an international translator. Still, I am going to have to deal with all kinds of people with that job so I’ve been building my mental state.”

“Oh.” Woojin slumps his back against the tree. He chuckles half-heartedly, “You could just say that you see us as nothing but a bunch of sore losers. That's who we are all. I mean, it really looks like you can’t even see us as a threat.”

“That's not what I think.” Woojin turns to face Namjoon again, only to see Namjoon’s back side. As he slips his arms under his backpack straps, Namjoon states, “I’m aware of you and the rest of the school’s love for Jimin and Tae. I actually really admire your admiration towards them. While I do not agree with the methods you chose or your behavior recently, I understand where it’s coming from. And you are not a loser of any sort.” Namjoon gives Woojin one last look and says his final words, “I wish I knew Jimin and Taehyung as long as you guys have. Otherwise, I wouldn’t be struggling so much right now.” Woojin opens his mouth to say something, but nothing comes out.

Namjoon gives him another half-smile. “Just want to let you know, we all have different struggles. I may not understand how you feel, and I don’t expect you to know how I feel either. But I really do mean it when I say this. I wish you luck for your future endeavors. And hopefully, you will approach your goals with a more honest manner.”

Oh. Though it’s obvious that there was more to Kim Namjoon that he is seeing right now, Woojin realizes an important trait of Namjoon's. The guy is genuine. All this time, Woojin always thought Namjoon was sketchy and insincere with the way he seems so dismissive of those surrounding him, but he never holds any ill-thought.

This prompts Woojin to shout, “I’m so sorry for everything I’ve done, Namjoon-ssi!”

Namjoon, now a couple feet away from Woojin, turns back around. Namjoon smiles for real this time, gifting Woojin the sight of his adorable dimples.

“I know. Good bye then, Woojin-ssi.”

Woojin almost teared up right then and there. He doesn’t know how or when Namjoon knew his name, but he feels touched that Namjoon went out of his way to learn it. Except, later, when Woojin finds out that he and Namjoon did cross paths at one event for juniors at the beginning of the year, tears managed to slip out of his eyes.

Never had he met anyone who would care enough to remember someone’s name who they briefly met at a meet and greet event. Much less someone as standoffish as Woojin, who never makes a good or memorable first impression.

No wonder why Park Jimin and Kim Taehyung are head over heels with Kim Namjoon.

“And he did what?! That’s it, I’m going to hunt down his fucking address and give him a piece of my mind!” Jimin screams furiously as he tries to make it to the door, only to be pulled down by Namjoon.

“Minnieee. I said it’s fine. He’s not going to bother me anymore,” Namjoon tries to appease the sophomore. Namjoon turns to Taehyung with pleading eyes, “Tae, please help me out here!”

Taehyung, his eyes cold and dark, only growls, “I’m going to need all of their addresses, their social media accounts, and the location of their workplace now.”

Namjoon rolls his eyes and huffs, “Not you too, Tae Tae.” He clings onto Jimin’s body a bit longer before the dancer finally gives up. Namjoon drags the two boyfriends to his couch and sits them down while pouting. He whines, “The moral of this story isn’t to go on a witch hunt and beat them up. I know you two are fully capable of doing that, but it’s not necessary!”

“Not necessary? They harassed you! Made fun of you! And one of them almost lunged at you?! You could have been hurt!” Jimin shouts.

Namjoon holds on to both Jimin and Taehyung’s hands and says to them, “I know, but I came out unharmed. And I successfully made them stop on my own.  I really want to show you two that I can handle this and that you don’t have to be so worried about me.”

Jimin and Taehyung somewhat calm down, giving Namjoon time to explain further. “I know you two are always protective and worried about me. I noticed how you guys constantly change your schedules to make sure I’m not alone too long or sometimes you would ask Jungkook to walk with me. But I want to lessen your stress and show you that I’m perfectly capable of my own.”

Taehyung sniffles softly and pulls Namjoon’s hand to his cheek. In a soft voice, Taehyung whispers, “Joon hyung. It’s just that… we feel so responsible and horrible to put you through that. You shouldn’t have to face these things because of us.”

Jimin nods next to Taehyung, “We know you are fully capable, but this is something both Tae and I should fix alone. If anything happens to you because of our adversaries or obsessive admirers, we would be so heartbroken. Please, let us take care of it.”

Namjoon smiles, squeezing himself between the two soulmates. Jimin and Taehyung automatically wrap their arms around their precious hyung, snuggling into his neck.

“But if I am going to be your boyfriend, it’s going to be my problem anyways, right?”

Both Jimin and Taehyung snap their heads up to meet Namjoon’s sparkling eyes.

“B-boyfriend?!” both soulmates exclaim in utter shock.

Namjoon nods shyly, twiddling his fingers a bit. “Y-yes. I… I wanted to be your boyfriend for a long time now. There are things we still need to work on, but.. I really love you guys.”

The two sophomores were paralyzed, wondering to themselves if they are dreaming right now. Then, Jimin shakes himself out of his trance and swoops in for a kiss. Namjoon immediately closes his eyes and sighs into the heated kiss Jimin had just initiated.

Namjoon smiles when he hears a whine behind him, “Hey, no fair! I wanted to kiss him first!”

Jimin swipes his tongue under Namjoon’s bottom lip, causing Namjoon to groan softly which only spurs Taehyung to protest even louder. Breaking the kiss, Jimin scoffs, “Well, you snooze, you lose. Better work on your reaction time, Tae.”

Taehyung takes this chance to turn Namjoon around and dives in for his own, long awaited kiss. Namjoon smiles into it, loving how different the two’s kisses were. Taehyung was much softer than Jimin with his lips. Their kiss was initially chaste, then Taehyung angles Namjoon’s face to kiss him even deeper. Though the two kisses are vastly different, they are both undeniably just right for him.

After 30 minutes of a heated makeout session between them, the three ended up laying on the floor, giggling to themselves uncontrollably.

Stuck between Jimin and Taehyung, Namjoon clutches onto their hands and whispers, “Though the future is still uncertain, as long as I have you two by my side, I know I will be happy.”

Jimin smiles, and Taehyung noses Namjoon’s shoulder blades.

“We will always be by your side, if you are willing to have us.”

Notes:

Just want to note that Vmin will never forget those who try to harm their Joon hyung, and so, they still went after the Mean Girls, that freshman, and Dongwoo 😌
