one dawn and a hum

Summary:

raymond arrived home at 3 in the morning.

OR dealing with grief was never easy, at least for raymond.

Notes:

u said want a yuno perma fic??? yeah???? WELL HERE YOU GO FUCKERS /j

jokes aside, this fic is inspired by the song 'mt. washington' by local natives and syktwt's questionable desire of yuno perma. this is also written in raymond's point of view.

terribly sorry for grammar errors and/or typos. hope you guys like it!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

the door creaked open as the white-haired man slowly walked inside the room.

it has been a long day for him–too long if he may say. all the racing, car boosting, late night heists, and bank trucks were more than enough to completely drain most of his energy. it was fun, though.

he immediately threw himself onto the bed, not even caring to at least change his outfit. raymond was usually a clean, neat guy, but for just this once, he couldn't care less about the blood stain or mixture of sweat and alcohol smell on his shirt. he was just so tired. so fucking tired.

he tilted his head just a bit, trying to look at the digital clock on the desk. 3.00 am, it says. not as late as he thought.

his head flopped back as he stared at the ceiling, thinking about his day and his plans for tomorrow.

“i probably should take kitty on a date tomorrow,” he quietly muttered.

the ceiling slowly became blurry and dark, as the russian fell into his slumber.

just right before he lost his conciousness, he heard a humming from the other room–probably tony's room. wasn't he alone at the manor, though?

“what the hell?” he cussed as he sat up, trying to listen more attentively.

it sounded somewhat familiar. but at the same time, he wasn't sure whose voice was it. no way it was lang or tony, those two left last afternoon for a meeting or whatever.

he ruffled his disheveled hair. he didn't have time for this; he was way too tired. a random noise at 3 am was the last thing he'd ask for. he was trying to sleep, for fuck's sake! was it mickey trying to mess with him? or even nino? a nerd? either way, he was not having any of it.

he stood up and walked out the door, barging into tony's–currently empty–room. he walked even further and saw something, no, someone inside the closet.

then it hits.

“wait, what the fuck, yuno?” he half-screamed at the sight.

the humming stopped.

there yuno was, sitting down and casually giving his usual cheeky grin at raymond.

raymond stumbled back and rubbed his eyes, unable to process what he just saw.

no way that is yuno.

he blinked several times as he vaguely saw a silhouette inside the closet.

and it vanished.

just as his vision started to clear up, he just vanished into thin air. just like that. as if it were a smoke, or a vapour. gone with no trace.

was he crazy?

raymond breathed out a heavy sigh as he slid down onto the floor, hands covering his face. his head felt heavy. all of these were too much for him.

maybe he was crazy.

yuno would never come back–no, he couldn't. he couldn't come back even if he wanted.

a visual of yuno, covered in blood popped inside his head. it was so vivid–too vivid than he'd like.

so vivid, he could recall every single wound that he saw from his brother's limp body.

so vivid, he could recall the slight fear embedded in yuno's dead eyes.

so vivid, he could recall every single question the cops asked him during the investigation.

the cries of his older brothers and the police siren from that night mentally deafened his ears.

raymond couldn't understand. out of all the people in the city, why should it be yuno? why should it be his brother? why couldn't it be someone else? he literally would bring someone–a literal random–to replace yuno that night.

but it was too late. yuno was already dead, deep in his grave. there was nothing he could do to bring back his brother. “we can only move on, and continue with our lives,” as lang said in a strong tone.

even though he could clearly saw the immense pain plastered on the older's eyes when he said it.

dealing with grief was probably one of the shittiest things one could ever face. a bottle of vodka sounded really nice. it might help him to cope, even just for a moment. or maybe a therapy session.

his sigh turned into a sob.

“i don't have to see you right now, yuno.”

Notes:

i feel like yuno's death would hit raymond the most.
