We won't make it out of here alive

Summary:

Every quirkless child is taken from their homes and brought up in several institutions all across Japan. Each year 2 "tributes" are picked out random from each of the 12 institutions. Each year these "games" are broadcasted as entertainment. But two boys from different institutions have had enough. Will they manage to overthrow the corrupt hero society or will they die in the process.

Quick note that I use they/them pronouns and also that u probs won't get regular updates!

Chapter Text

I can barely remember his mother's face. Its a rather odd way to start off this story but it'll do. Although I do have one memory of her. It was the fateful day when I was dragged from my mother's arms at the tender age of 4. That day my worried mother had taken her son to the doctors only to have him dragged off to the Kyoto institution for quirkless children. You see the way this society works is on the 1st of September every year one female and one male is chosen from each of the 12 quirkless institutions. They are give 1 month to form alliances with others and train with them. All "contestants" must be between the ages of 21 and 18. Even if you live past 18 without being chosen for the games you can never leave the institution. It I a cruel life of imprisonment but I had gotten used to it over the years.

I accepted the way my life would be from an early age. I am now 15 and I have become a sort of older sibling to the younger kids. But I swore I would make the mist of this situation. If you get a high enough score on the weekly tests once you turn 19 and can no longer be chosen for the games you can become a carer fir the under 12s. I have dedicated my life to this goal. Stealing books from the wardens bedsides and sneaking into the over 18s library at night times. I was a book smart kid and had no physical strength. I usually missed out on the weekly training sessions meant to help us if we were ever chosen for the games. I will be honest here and say I never really thought of the possibility of me being chosen for the games. But I was wrong. Very wrong.
