That's My Girl

Summary:

Marinette walks through the air with a mysterious green-eyed stranger.

Inspired by Howl's Moving Castle!

Notes:

Hi Kitties!! Did you know I like anime? I LOVE anime!! Anyways, this is inspired by my favorite scene in my favorite Ghibli film, Howl's Moving Castle.

(No, I totally did not rewatch this one scene 15 times the first time I saw this show.) (I also didn't sigh softly whenever Howl spoke or was onscreen.)

I'm actually pretty proud of this one! :)

(oh, btw, I didn't come up with all this dialogue, most is from the movie.)

(I like parenthesis.)

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

“Hold on.”

Marinette gasped as his arm curved around her waist and pulled her into the sky, away from those frightening black wraiths. He pulled her above the rooftops, holding her in the air. They were flying.

“Now straighten your legs,” he held her hands, smiling gently, “And start walking.” He led her by the hand, escorting her in their walk through the sky. She couldn’t believe it. It was amazing.

But who was he? She looked at him. His hair was long, blonde, and messy in the way that one couldn’t be sure if it was an accident or styled. He was dressed all in black, save for a white shirt, a green-black checkered cape, and the bronze bell that fastened it. He wore a mask, black, and his eyes glowed kiwi green. Her fingers brushed his black and green ring. He was boyishly handsome, and a gentleman, she could tell.

He smiled charmingly at her as they walked, “You are a natural.” Her heart stopped. She had known him for less than two minutes, but that one compliment felt like it was what her life had been leading up to. That one moment. She nodded slightly, smiling at him. Her cheeks were hot. Her hands were sweaty.

They continued walking through the streets of the air, occasionally stopping to push off of a chimney for momentum. Marinette frowned when she saw they were headed for a balcony. She wished that her walk with him could last forever.

He set her gently in the balcony and he perched on the railing, looking at her affectionately. He brushed a loose hair behind her ear, “I’ll make sure to draw them off. Wait a bit before you head outside.”

She nodded slightly, not trusting herself to speak.

He smiled at her, “That’s m’lady.” He jumped off the railing, his green coat waving like a flag as he fell.

Marinette hurried forward, trying to see where he landed, but all she could see was the crowded streets of the town. She looked into the sky, gasping when she saw the flash of green disappear behind a chimney. “I’ll find you again, someday,” she promised, “I will.”
