She tossed for the fifth time within thirteen minutes. It was keeping her awake. The events of the last 27 hours haunting her every second.
She didn’t mean for it to happen; she didn’t mean for this mess to have happened. But she came out of it unscathed: mostly anyway. The only change was that now instead of human blood flowing through her veins it would be what she would consume forever more.
Kol knew what she was thinking about: he always did. That’s what drew her to him originally and that’s what she thought of when he got down on one knew all those months ago.
He snaked his arms around her torso bringing her back to his chest. He whispered in her ear. “It’s all right darling, I’m here.”
“It’ll be all right. You know why?” Kol continued.
“Why?”
“Because, (Y/N), we’re a team.”
He gently kissed her neck before humming an old show tune in her ear, so faint she couldn’t quite place the song. So soft she could hear his heartbeat thumping in the background and that’s what eventually lulled her to sleep. The thought of always having him to keep the nightmares away.
