Cry | Merlin/Hamish Mycroft

Summary:

Merlin's wife is hurt on a mission

Work Text:

The ringing sound of gunshot after gunshot wasn’t unfamiliar to you. It meant that you were in the right place. After five years of being a Kingsman agent, you realised that you needed to be where the bullets were to complete your task.

You hadn’t been hit by one of those bullets before, not before today anyway. Eggsy had said that it was horrible from the time one scrapped his arm. But you were numb to the feeling and everything else around you, just trying to make it out of the building alive.

“Percival,” your husband’s worried voice filled the silence coming from your comms, “take the next left. There should be an elevator.”

You married him not too long ago, in April just passed. A small ceremony with an open bar big enough to silence any alcoholic. You looked like the epitome of elegance, beautiful enough to bring Hamish to tears. That was the first time you had seen your husband cry.

Swinging around the corner, you tried to move faster but it wasn’t possible, you were maxed out, so much so that it was a struggle to keep your eyes open. Each blink was growing longer as you waited for the elevator to come, mashing the button in hopes it would come quicker.

The doors slide open and you practically fell inside, pressing the button to go to the bottom floor where you knew merlin had a helicopter waiting. It was only now when the noise of the bullets flying was dulled down did you fully realise the extent of your wound. The blood rapidly flowing down your leg was a clear giveaway, a bullet had been shot directly into your thigh.

“Well done, Percival. We can get you home now.” Merlin’s voice sounded in your ear again. He sounded optimistic; he didn’t know about your wound.

“I need an ambulance.” You responded, trying to remain stoic to avoid causing a fuss. “I’ve been shot. There’s s’lot of blood.”

“What dae you mean, love?”

“I’ve had.. have,” You tried, finding the words failing you as you sat down on the floor of the elevator, watching its slow descent by the red numbers on the screen. 45 - 44 - 43.

Lolling your head downwards, you closed your heavy eyes just to rest them for a moment as you were finding it hard to keep awake. You thought back to your wedding day, you never thought you’d see Hamish cry again, and you probably wouldn’t now, but you could hear it over the comms.

“(Y/N), come on lass, keep your eyes open.” following the instructions you looked back up to the numbers on the wall. 21 - 20 - 19. “There’s a good girl. Keep them open.”

“I love you,” you said slowly, trying to pronounce each word clearly for him. You weren’t certain that you may be able to tell him again. You wanted to make sure that he never doubted your love for him. “I really do.”

Shifting your weight to get a better view of the descending numbers, you hissed in pain at the movement and it wasn’t only then did you realise how big the pool of blood you created was.

Merlin sighed through the comm, obviously upset at having the see the life drain away from his wife, with nothing more to do than watch. “The ambulance is here. You’re going to be alright, you hear me?”

You were going to be okay. You always were with Hamish by your side.
