Work Text:

Louis placed his knife down after taking a big gulp of water, a look of disgust across his face. Louis stood and placed his hand on the back of his chair. Louis pointed at his bison leg, his head at such an angle that his antlers looked like deadly weapons.

“Who cooked the meat tonight,” he slowly looked around the table. “The question wasn’t rhetorical.” A moment passed as he looked up, his eyebrows furrowed and eyes deadly serious.

Finally, Free spoke, “I did Boss. Was it not-“

“Piss poor,” Louis slowly walked across the room to Free. “If you ever, overcook meat like this again, you’ll be on the menu next.” He was inches from Free’s face, his antlers giving him the appearance of a predator ready to devour his prey.

His eyes narrowed as Free responded with a bow which was quickly followed with an apology.

Louis headed towards the door and snatch Free’s coat from the coat rack.

Louis looked free up and down, “Earn this back.”

Louis slung the jacket across his back, the slick black suede coat falling gently around his shoulders as he looked at the pack of Lions. “If you can’t cook a bison, why should you wear one? Miguel, Jinma, follow me. The rest of you, clean up in here will ya? And for the love of God, someone teach him how to cook a fucking cow.”

Louis slung the door open as Miguel and Jinma got to their feet to follow him. As they walked down the hall Louis rolled his neck around, feeling the soft black rabbit fur collar. Louis adjusted the gold chain he wore most days so it was just peeking through the black coat, his matching simple gold rings acting as accepts to the ensemble. He’s requested the gold jewelry some time ago to show his status among the pack Lions.

Louis slid his hands into the pockets of the jacket and found that they were also lined with rabbit fur. The texture reminded him of Hal, but only for a moment. The hem of the lion’s jacket barely dusted the floor as Louis walked, Miguel on his left and Jinma on his right. Each lion on their guards ready to take orders.

Louis stopped at the front door entrance to their headquarters. He was practically swimming in Free’s coat, and as he began to fasten the buttons carved from elephant tusks he looked over his shoulder to Jinma.

“Ensure we have high-quality meat tomorrow. And Miguel,” Louis then turned to look to him. “See to it that I have a coat tailored to fit me. Except I need white rabbit fur to line the inside instead of black. Ensure there is a hood, and slits for my horns. The outside stitching needs to be gold, made from the best skin you can find. Got it?”

“Yes, boss.”

Louis opened the front door and stepped out into the garden, the coat flowing behind him as he walked through.

“Oh, and Miguel. Ensure they’re a white rabbit’s foot attached to the inside of the jacket."

Louis dismissed the two lions with a swish of his hand, his new coast just barely dusting the ground as he caressed the soft rabbit fur as he began his nightly stroll.
