Work Text:

"What the fuck are you two doing?"

Alex winced at the sound of the dropped fork clattering against the tile floor, rolling his eyes when he walked further into the room and saw Luke frozen as if he had been caught in the act of some crime, Willie sitting on the counter across the kitchen from him and swinging his legs back and forth as they eyed Luke with a fond look. Unusually, it wasn't the boys Alex was interested in, but the thing in the bowl in front of one of them.

"Luke, what is that," he asked incredulously, pointing dramatically at the bowl in front of him. Luke unfroze from his position, crouching down to pick up the dropped fork and jumping up to throw it into the sink with another clatter, facing Alex with a bright and way-too-proud smile- kind of like how a puppy would look after tearing up a homework assignment.

"They're cookies! Kind of…" he trailed off, looking at the bowl of what Alex guessed was supposed to be cookie dough before turning away from it to point an accusing finger at Willie, who just raised his eyebrows at him. "They said that you're not supposed to blend the chocolate chips into the batter, so I wanted to prove him wrong, and now we have this!"

He reached behind him and grabbed the bowl, shoving it in Alex's direction for him to see, and he just crossed his arms over his chest, looking inside skeptically.

Luke looked back and forth between the two other boys before placing the bowl down a little too hard on the table and throwing his hands up. "Why are you guys looking at me like that! It's not like they're gonna taste bad now. Actually, I bet they're gonna taste better than if I had just stirred them in like I was supposed to! They'll be even better than Julie's cookies."

Alex and Willie exchanged a look, and Luke huffed, crossing his arms over his chest and pouting. Willie sighed, jumping off of the counter and coming around to wrap his arms around Luke's shoulders, ruffling his hair and leaning into his side.

"I'm sure they'll be good," they said, and Alex nodded, coming up to stand in front of them and wrapping his arms around both of their waists, pulling them close so that they were all huddled together.

"Not as good as Julie's, though," he added after a few seconds of just standing close, and Luke groaned, pushing him away from their huddle and wrapping his arms completely around only Willie.

"This is why Willie is my favorite. He's nice."

Alex hummed, rolling his eyes and moving past the two boys to get to the bowl of batter, dumping in another whole bag of chocolate chips before Luke could stop him.

"Hey!" Luke started, letting go of Willie and attempting to push Alex out of the way before he could do anything else. "What are you doing!"

"We might as well have double chocolate chip," he said, shrugging, and Willie nodded, coming to stand next to him and watch as Luke fussed over the bowl.

"Yeah, and I know you're not going to be the one to argue against extra chocolate."

Luke's lips pulled up into another pout even as he stepped away from the batter with a nod. "Yeah I guess you're right."

"Stop pouting," Alex groaned, shoving his hand in Luke's face, laughing when he pushed his hand away, pout turning into a full frown. "Come on, bake your cookies."

"Wait!" Willie pushed them both out of the way before Luke could start to seperate the cookies onto the baking sheets, digging through the cabinet above him for something as Luke and Alex shared a look behind their back. They grabbed a box after digging far enough to reach Julie's candy stash- which was definitely a bad idea. It was the one thing in the kitchen they weren't supposed to touch, and Alex would refuse to take the blame for this when Julie inevitably found out. "We should put M&M's in the batter too! It won't make it any worse," he said, dumping the entire box of the candy into the bowl and stirring them in before either of them could protest with a wide grin.

"Willie," Luke whined, dragging the last syllable of his name out as he pushed them away from the bowl. "This is all your fault. We might as well put pretzels in it now."

"Ooh, like the hard snack ones?" Alex asked, moving to stand on Luke's other side. "I think that might actually be good…" he trailed off, reaching slowly towards the small bag of pretzels on the shelf above the counter before immediately being pushed away by both of his boyfriends.

"Absolutely not," Luke said, pushing Willie away too after Alex was at a far enough distance. "Nope, neither of you are allowed to come near this bowl. I'm putting them in the oven now. Go away."

Willie smiled up at Alex from where they were standing next to him, and Alex couldn't hold himself back from leaning down and kissing him.

"Hey!" Luke spoke up from across the kitchen, and Alex and Willie broke apart to look at him. "No kissing in the kitchen unless you're kissing me! The phrase is literally 'kiss the cook,' not 'kiss the two idiots that ruin cookies.'"

"We would totally be kissing you right now if your hands weren't so gross," Willie said, nodding his head towards Luke's cookie dough covered hands. "How did you even manage to do that?"

Luke frowned down at his hands. "I always thought you were supposed to like, roll the batter into balls. But it's way too sticky."

"I'm pretty sure that's just for sugar cookies," Alex suggested, and Luke huffed.

"How was I supposed to know that!" he said, throwing his hands up and splattering even more batter in the process. He groaned, turning his back to Willie and Alex and grabbing the tray of the messiest cookies Alex had ever seen and throwing them into the oven.

When he turned back to face them, he had a mischievous smile on his face, and nope. Alex took an instinctive step back, and Luke's grin only widened before he ran forward and wiped his hands on Alex's face. Willie laughed from beside him, which was absolutely why Alex had to immediately turn and wipe his face on their shirt.

The cookies ended up tasting not terrible, Julie didn't forgive them for a whole week for breaking into her stash, and Alex couldn't smell anything but cookie dough for at least two days, but it was all worth it to see his boys smile.
