Work Text:
“I really like your hair like this! I can look you in the eyes without having to see your eyes!” He smiled exitedly. He really did like Tubbos new haircut.
“I’ll make sure to keep it this way, just for you Ranboo” He smiled back. He wanted to make sure Ranboo was comfortable around him.
Ranboo didn’t want him to do it just for him, he didn’t want to be controlling. Tubbo should get to do what he wants but he does greatly appreciate Tubbo wanting to make him comfortable.
When Ranboo saw that Tubbo walked into the burger van he looked up at him and immediately looked back down. Tubbo had gotten a haircut and the haircut was above his eyes, he could no longer look his husband in the eyes anymore. He didn’t want to seem controlling but he really didn’t like Tubbos haircut.
“I see you got a haircut Tubbo” He said, still looking at the floor.
“Yep! Quackity said I should get one for my new job” New job? Did Quackity hire him to work at the casino?
“I like it, it looks nice! If you don’t mind me asking what new job?” Say what he wants to hear but he really wanted to know about the job. Don’t say what you feel, don’t hint towards it. Make him happy.
“Thanks! I work at the cookie shop! Speaking of that we should talk about what we originally came here for, I sold the land the cookie shop is on to Quackity. It’s las nevadas property now”
‘Wow, things are just getting worse and worse aren’t they’ Ranboo thought.
“So Quackity owns it? But we worked so hard on it! You put so much effort into it, that cookie shop meant everything to us and you just sold it?”
“Not exactly, I still run it but Quackity owns the land”
They argued over the cookie shop for a bit until Ranboo couldn’t handle it anymore. Tubbo kept trying to make eye contact with him and it was stressing him out. Everything was going wrong, too much was changing and he didn’t like it.
He had to find a way to leave. He went over to the chest where they kept some of the food. “Oh look! This bread seems to be a bit stale, I’m going to go throw it in the river, goodbye! It was nice speaking to you” He ran out.
He ran and ran until he made it to Snowchester. He hoped Tubbo wouldn’t come home because he just wanted to see his kid and he really didn’t want to argue again.
“Hi Micheal, how are you doing buddy? Dada and I got into an argument so I won’t be visiting for awhile. I brought you a gift though!” He handed Micheal a small journal and some crayons.
Micheal took them happily and started to draw something. “Why did you and dada fight?”
Sometimes Micheal was a too smart for his own good. “Just over some work things, everything will be alright by the end of the week”
“Promise?”
“Promise.”
He watched as Micheal continued to draw something, he wasn’t sure what it was as the kid was covering most of it with his arm.
“Boo! Look!” Micheal ripped out the page and held up the drawing. It was of Tubbo, Ranboo and Micheal when they used to tell the kid bedtime stories each night. Before everything went bad.
“I made it for you!” He handed over the drawing and Ranboo smiled.
“Thanks kiddo, i’ve got to go now but you tell your dad I miss him alright and that we are going to have dinner as a family on Saturday. I’ll even let you pick what we eat Micheal”
“Okay! I’ll see you then!”
He went down the ladder and left the house.
The walk back home was as long as it usually was but it felt longer when he was alone with his thoughts. The particles were being unusually quiet and when he tried to hear them they seemed to be crying. He wasn’t sure what they were sad about but he hoped they’d be okay.
“Hey Phil!” He said as he walked in. Phil was fixing up the farm again.
“Do you wanna talk about the day like we usually do? Or just go home”
“Um we can talk”
“Okay, let me finish this and we can head inside”
He finished fixing up the gateway and they went to Phil’s house. Phil’s house was the cleanest of the three that lived in the snowy desert. Aside from the pictures of Tommy and Wilbur on the wall that were pretty creepy the house looked nice. The walls were painted a nice grey colour to match Phil’s heart tattoo. Ranboo was never sure where Phil got the tattoo but he figured it’d be better not to ask.
“So how was your day?” Phil asked. Handing him a mug of hot cocoa.
“Not great” He said slowly, taking in a small breathe. “Tubbo and I got into an argument. I think he thinks i’m upset with him because I couldn’t look him in the eyes. He got a haircut and that’s why I can’t but I don’t think he remembers my thing with eye contact” He slowly drinks the chocolate.
Phil just nodded not sure how to help but letting Ranboo just talk anyways. After a few minutes Ranboo was done talking about everything that had happened that day.
“That’s all, thank you for letting me talk again. I’m gonna go home now” He handed Phil the mug and walked to the door to leave.
“Alright! Bye mate!” He waved.
Once Ranboo got home he went over what happened so he could write in his memory book.
If Tubbo hadn’t sold the cookie shop then they wouldn’t have argued but if he didn’t then Quackity would still be mad at them. Why didn’t everything result in some kind of conflict? He just wanted everyone to be happy.
Ranboo didn’t really care what Tubbo did with the cookie shop seeing as it was his anyways, he just wished that Tubbo hadn’t got the haircut. Maybe then Tubbo wouldn’t have looked so hurt when Ranboo couldn’t make eye contact. He was stressing himself out again. He wrote in his memory book for a couple minutes before heading out and gathering the supplies for Saturday’s dinner.
