Chapter Text
The only thing Camp Halfblood really wished for was a lunch with no fights between cabins or any other kind of inconvenience. Unfortunately that was simply impossible (or highly unlikely) since all three of the Big Three children were in the same mile radius and had been standing each other for the whole of a week.
Therefore no one was surprised when, for the tenth time in three days, Jason Grace reached the dining pavilion with a wary expression and his body soaked to the bones.
“Perseus Jackson! C’mere you bastard!” The son of Jupiter glared towards the Poseidon table while squeezing an ocean of water out of his purple t-shirt.
“Hey, what’s up dude?” Percy stood up from where he was seated on the Poseidon table next to Annabeth and Piper, looking confused.
“Are we really playing this game now?” Jason stared at him in defiance, bringing up his right hand bursting with electricity.
A giggle came from the Apollo table and Jason averted his gaze to see Nico di Angelo with his face pressed against Will Solace’s shoulder to try to contain his laughter. Kayla, sitting opposite them, tried to cover them from Jason’s view, moving imperceptibly in front of the two boys, but it was too late.
The son of Jupiter forgot all about the son of Poseidon and paced towards the son of his father’s most hated brother with his arms crossed.
“What’s so funny, di Angelo?” Now everyone was staring.
Nico detached from Will and propped his chin on his laced fingers, his head leaning to the side innocently “Did you fall in the canoe’s lake on your way here, Grace?”
“Don’t be so mean, sunshine. He didn’t fall into the lake, a dryad probably told him there was a stapler at the bottom”
Nico and Will exchanged a high five under the table without even looking at each other. The pavilion laughed nervously. Jason rolled his eyes.
“Alright death boy, so basically you just decided to hide water cannons in my cabin to wake me up very nicely and make me think it was Percy’s doing” Nico shrugged and nodded once, as if he had almost forgotten about this entire situation.
“Nico, what in Hades?!” Percy gasped from the other side of the pavilion, as if just realizing what was going on.
Nico rolled his eyes “I thought I had already told you you can’t simply use my father’s name against me, Jacks-”
“But you can use my powers against Jason, huh?”
“Well I didn’t technically use your powers. The same things you do with water can be easily imitated with machinery. Nyssa helped me with this, didn’t you Nyssa?”
“Don’t drag me into this, di Angelo” someone screamed from the Hephaestus table.
Jason was still standing soaked in front of the Apollo table. A waterfall of icy water wasn’t the best way to wake up in a good mood and he was getting more and more distressed by the second. The worst thing, though, was that no words came to his mind. He had prepared a mental list of insults and curses to throw at Percy while he walked to the pavilion, but as it came to Nico being the guilty one, he was caught unprepared. The same words didn’t work with the son of Hades as with the son of Poseidon. He needed to develop a new tactic.
Or maybe not.
Fuck that.
“You’re so gonna regret this, di Angelo!”
The son of Jupiter brought a hand up, electricity starting to burst more and more all around it, and when he considered it was charged enough, he shot a sight-burning lightning at Nico.
The Italian boy was expecting this, it seemed, as he threw himself under the table and shadow-traveled behind Jason, reaching for his arm.
“Could you calm the fuck down? You’re making a scene out of a stupid prank, Jace”
Nico glanced around at the campers, glaring back at those who were staring weirdly at him and Jason.
“Besides” he continued, letting go of Jason’s arm “it was totally deserved, I told you I would take my revenge, Grace”
Jason thought he may have indeed overreacted a little bit, but as he was going to reply that he totally disagreed with the revenge part, a voice came from the table behind them. The Apollo table.
“N-nico?” Kayla’s voice was uncertain, she was looking at the son of Hades, her face pale. Was that a nervous expression in her eyes?
Nico looked at her and instantly understood. He glanced at Will. Austin and two other Apollo kids were around his unconscious figure, his head resting on the table, his blond hair straightened up from all sides and his plaid shirt fuming.
“Will!” Nico ran towards his boyfriend and cupped his head up, stroking his freckled cheeks and smoothing his blond locks frantically. He felt a panic attack creeping inside him at the only thought of something bad happening to Will.
“Don’t freak up, Nico” Austin got up from where he was kneeling next to Will “a spark of electricity reached his shirt, but he’s alright, there are no serious combustion signs. He just has a ridiculously weak resistance to electricity, it seems. I’ll take him to the infirmary, he’ll be awake in a few minutes”
He and a few of Will’s siblings picked the unconscious boy up. Nico trailed behind them, eyes bright with tears.
“Not so fast, Nico” Mr D appeared out of nowhere and stopped in front of him, blocking him the way “what’s happening here?” he turned to Jason “I heard a thunder from the big house, but I don’t think a storm is approaching camp any time soon, so I hope it’s not what I think it is, Jordan Grey”
Nico turned to the son of Jupiter and as soon as he saw those stupid blue eyes with those stupid glasses and that stupid put off expression, all the rage of the underworld coming straight from the last circle of hell enraptured him.
“You” he hissed, dragging the vowel and glaring at Jason in his scary as hell iconic way.
Hundreds of skeletons emerged from the pavilion’s floor, an army of bones waking directly from their eternal sleep in the kingdom of Hades.
The entire pavilion burst into a chaotic screaming as everyone jumped up from their table and ran frantically towards the safety of their cabins.
Chiron arrived galloping from the big house.
“Nico! Stop this! Now!” he demanded, but to no avail, as the raven haired boy launched himself onto Jason, unsheathing his sword.
The army of skeletons became overwhelming and Chiron stepped away, while mr D summoned a bag of popcorns and seated on top of his table. Percy, Annabeth and Piper were the only ones left in the pavilion, all standing a good distance away.
Percy took a few tentative steps forward and brought his arms up in a placating way, while Jason barely dodged Nico’s sword and shot him with defensive electrostatic sparks, regretting not having brought his golden sword with him.
“You hurt my boyfriend, you asshole! You knocked him unconscious with a fucking godly lighting!”
Dark shadows spread from the sword’s blade, Jason kept backing out from his crazy little cousin and Percy thought he most assuredly didn’t want to be in Jason’s place.
“I’m sorry Nico! I didn’t want to hurt anyone, I let my hand go, you can’t judge me for that!”
Seeing the new wave of anger coming up on Nico, Percy finally stepped in between the two.
“GODSDAMMIT GUYS! CALM DOWN RIGHT NOW!”
Jason made the mistake of wavering for a second and a feeble lightning aimed at Nico hit Percy’s shoulder with a scary electric noise. The son of Poseidon stayed still for a few seconds, his body turned into a human wire as electricity flowed painfully through him. Nico took advantage of the momentum to shadow-travel behind Jason and throw himself at the blond. The sky kid and the underworld kid kept fighting each other on the ground, screaming and shouting courses as shadows and electrostatic sparks blurred around them.
Percy recovered from his shock rather quickly and immediately grabbed his pen and took its cap off. Riptide glowed light-blue and golden as Percy fighted two skeletons that kept him from getting to the son of Jupiter in order to choke the breath out of his lungs.
All of his godly nature caught his senses as he knocked the two bony warriors down and stared at his two natural rivals. Jason had attained to get Nico off of him and was getting up on his feet. The green eyed boy knocked the blonde to the floor again and hovered over him pressing his hands on his neck. Jason gasped for breath.
“This is not your fight, Percy!” Nico shouted at him and for good measure stumped his left foot on the marble floor. The ground rumbled beneath them, opening cracks under their feet.
“You wanna ruin the pavilions’ floor again, death boy?” Percy mocked as he finally let Jason take shaky breaths.
Nico’s expression darkened as shadows grew all around him. “And do you have a kink for choking people? Cause, honestly, if I were you, I’d go to a psychiatrist”
“This is why you’re not his type, waterboy” Jason snapped as soon as he had recovered. Percy shut him up with a crunching punch on the nose that made everyone around grit their teeth in sympathy.
“They’re going to kill each other” Piper muttered exasperatedly under her breath, still standing next to Annabeth on the other side of the pavilion.
“I hope so” The daughter of Athena rolled her eyes as the Big Three kids kept fighting one another with swords and godly powers “Why do we even keep them in the same country?”
“As if staying apart would prevent them from wiping their asses off” The daughter of Aphrodite replied with a huff.
Right, shadow-travel...
Another one of Jason’s lightings reached Percy’s body, making him convulse.
“Should we do something?” Piper finally asked, more as a courtesy than with actual worry.
“Nah” Annabeth replied after a millisecond of consideration “Will’s gonna take care of them later”
“I wouldn’t like to be in their place, then” was Piper’s amused reply.
