Work Text:

Tenma woke up especially early that day.

It would be a busy day for him, according to his schedules. He had actually set his phone’s alarm but his natural anxiety let him open his eyes two minutes before it rings. Good, he guesses. He would feel bad waking up Banri and Juza so early. If he was in his room it wouldn’t be a problem, because Yuki was already used to it and if he wasn’t, that’s totally on him, but he knew he couldn’t demand Banri and Juza the same. Okay, maybe Banri, since they were dating for a while, but definitely not Juza. He had also warned Banri about his schedule, but he insisted it wasn’t a problem so Tenma just let it go. However, thinking about it later, he concluded it was a bad idea since his boyfriend had little to no concerns about Juza so obviously he would say it wasn’t a problem. Keeping that in mind was probably what made him wake up just in time.

Well, anyway, first step done successfully. Both were still asleep.

Tenma didn’t know the second step would be so hard, though.

He needed to get out of bed. It seemed to be a simple task and it should be, if it wasn't for Banri’s arms wrapping around his chest way too tightly. Tenma sighed. He tried to pull them off once or twice, but it did nothing. He was clinging to him with a strange amount of strength.

“Are you even asleep?” He asked himself whispering, annoyed while trying to get free, but to his surprise, Banri groaned in response. “You’re not??? Let me go!” Tenma was still making an effort to keep whispering to not wake Juza up.

“Hm…” In Banri’s defense, he was still clearly half asleep, but it didn’t change a bit the fact that Tenma needed to get ready for work. Even half asleep though, Banri wasn’t really planning to let his boyfriend go anywhere. “No”

“Banri-san… I need to go...”

“No, you don’t”

“Yes, I do” Tenma wasn’t trying to get out anymore, it was a huge waste of energy, Banri has always been stronger than him and his position was clearly giving him advantage. “I told you yesterday, I’m busy, there’s people counting on my presence”

“Tell them to fuck off” Banri held him even tighter and hid his face on Tenma's neck, looking like a little child having their tantrum.

“Wh-! I can’t tell them to fuck off!”

"... Why…"

"? Because!"

"What a pain…" He muttered while still on his neck, causing Tenma to shiver a little bit. “... Tell them you’re sick then...”

“But that would be a lie…"

"Hm…"

"You want me to skip work, is that so?”

The older boy nodded. "Once… It won' kill ya', y'know..."

"But that's still wrong..." Tenma's phone started ringing after this sentence.

It was Igawa. Obviously, Tenma would answer it, but since it was right next to them, Banri grabbed it faster and sat on the bed. On the bright side, Tenma was now free from Banri’s arms, but on the other hand, Banri was just on his way to talk with his manager.

“Don’t you dare!” Tenma tried to pick his phone back, but his boyfriend just blocked him away from it with his free arm. “Banri-san!”

“Igawa, wassup!” Tenma stopped fighting and started to just stare at Banri, a bit shocked but also unbelieving how far Banri was going. “Uh, no, he’s not feeling well, actually. Can ya’ rearrange it? … No, I don’ think he needs it, he jus’ needs to rest a bit”

“Banri-san!” Ignored.

Tenma wasn’t really getting what he was feeling at the moment. Was he annoyed because Banri didn’t have permission to do that? Sad because he wasn’t listening to him? Relieved because maybe he didn’t want to get away from Banri’s arms? He wouldn’t admit it out loud but he likes cuddling a little bit… But Banri was messing up with his schedule and it was something important, this is definitely annoying.

He couldn’t figure it out.

“You’re welcome” Banri said once he was done with the conversation, giving his phone back.

“No?! You can’t just do that!”

“But I just did. Stop makin’ a scene, he said he could fix your schedule easily, and said one of your jobs for today got cancelled anyway...” Banri looked away, seeming annoyed. He leaned his back on the wall behind him while Tenma kneeled on the bed.

“Who’s making a scene?! This is important, it is about my career!”

“Nah, you’ve been working too much anyway”

“Why do ya’ both always start talkin’ like I’m not here” And this deep and sleepy voice was Juza, who of course has been woken up.

Banri looked at him raising an eyebrow, and since, again, he had little to no concerns about the boy, he just grabbed the pillow at his side and threw it on Juza’s face and held it.

“The fuck are ya’ doin’?” Juza pulled Banri’s hand away by his wrist and sat up, grabbing the pillow and throwing it away.

“Just shut up, dumbass, no one asked you anything” He sighed, clearly annoyed.

Banri seemed to carry a strange amount of seriousness. Tenma had no idea why he woke up so moody. Of course, he knew Banri was not a morning person, he wouldn’t even consider himself one since he mostly just had obligations and had always been deadly responsible about them, but he usually didn’t treat him like that. Maybe he was at his normal with Juza but not with him.

“Why are ya’ calling me dumbass this early, shithead?”

“Cuz' maybe you’re a dumbass any time of the day? Who are ya’ calling shithead, dumbass”

“Who else would I be callin’ shithead, shithead? Are ya’ tryna pick a fight right now?”

“You both, don’t! I’m still here too!” Tenma put himself in the middle of them as soon as he could. “Besides, I don’t want to wake up anyone else. Sorry, Juza-san”

Juza stared at Tenma, changed his attention to Banri for a second, and got it back to Tenma.

“S’ fine, he’s the one being a jerk here” It seemed like Juza was already ready to get out of the room. Banri rolled his eyes, and Tenma frowned. Could Juza tell something was off too? He probably knew his boyfriend more than himself, but… just by looking at him? Is it possible? He's used to moving away from fights, but not when they’re with Banri. Tenma probably was staring at him way too suspiciously, because it didn't take that much to Juza say “What? I’m hungry”

An awkward silence dominated the room while Juza made his way to the room's door, but it got broken as soon as he got to it.

"I'm not a jerk! Fuckin' dumbass" Banri shouted, even though Tenma just said a while ago he didn’t want anyone else to get woken up.

“What the hell is wrong with you today?!” Banri didn’t answer. Instead, he kept his angry expressions while staring at the door Juza already closed, and then just laid back down, turning his back to Tenma. It worried him a little bit more, he couldn’t deny it. Banri was someone hard to deal with sometimes. "Hey… Seriously, what's wrong?" Tenma softened, trying to get something from Banri.

“... Ugh" He turned to face Tenma again, but looked away as soon as his eyes met his. The orange haired boy could swear his cheeks had a light shade of pink. "... Maybe I just wanted to stay with you a little longer but since you’re never available I had to do it myself”

“Oh…” Tenma felt his cheeks warm up a little bit too. “Is that so…?” He laid down at Banri's side again, facing him with shyness and curiosity.

"... Don' look at me like that"

"L-Like what?!"

"Like I'm askin' somethin' outta this world"

"I- I just got curious… Do you want… attention? From me? And spend more time with me? I-Is that so? T-That's what I got, at least" Banri could get embarrassed with it being said. He wasn't really an open person, asking these type of stuff or being told he wanted this or that kind of affection when he actually did would easily make him uncomfortable. However, the fact that Tenma was also getting embarrassed and it wasn't even about him at all didn’t let him feel the same. Banri was amused. He let out a chuckle, watching Tenma's face getting more and more reddish each word.

"I thought it was obvious…" He complained. And maybe it was, but Tenma's just too clueless to notice almost anything between the lines without third party help. Maybe that's the role Juza played, even without knowing it. "Y'know, it's frustrating sometimes. You'd get late for something we planned or have an entire week unavailable and the first free spot you'd fill with Summer Troupe and… I'm not saying you shouldn't. And I also know it's not your fault when you get late. I just… ugh" He made efforts to not look Tenma in the eye. It would make it even harder to talk.

"I… I think I get what you mean. But y-you should've told me this sooner, I could've made something about it..." Tenma got even closer to Banri, close enough to hide his face on Banri's chest, and he accepted it, quickly turning it into a tight hug. "Don’t do that again, though. My work is important to me."

"Yeah, I know… Sorry, it was just an impulse. Won't happen' again" Banri's hand went to stroke that soft and orange-colored hair. "Are… Are you going to call Igawa to fix it?"

Tenma denied, burying his face on Banri's shirt even more.

"Hmph! C-Consider yourself lucky today. I forgive you this time."

Banri couldn’t deny he was happy to hear that. They spent a little more time that, just enjoying each other's presence, warmth and affection.

“What a troublemaker...” Tenma let it out after a few minutes, which caused Banri to stop stroking his hair, somewhat shocked with his audacity.

“Hah? Who’s a troublemaker, oi!”

Tenma laughed.

Banri swears he could hear him laughing forever.
