Work Text:

A stroke across... make it sharp - ah, his grip was too weak. Too wobbly of a line - he sighed with disdain as he scrunched up yet another half finished pentagram, tossing it into the small paper bin beside him, which by now was overflowing with his wasted efforts.

Though, despite how he must be on his 50th try right now - Sirius felt oddly calm about this. On any other days, his frustration would get the better of him - but for some strange reason unbeknownst to him, he was able to keep a level head as he moved on to another piece of paper. Weird, but preferable. He'd much rather this than to lose himself in a cloud of self-doubt and inner torment because of his failed attempts, to be truthful.

Supposedly, he was quite calm today. No clue why, but rather to let it happen than to dwell on it and then find something to worry about.

He was about to begin another when he heard a few knocks at the door, and he let out another sigh - this one of relief however - and placed his pencil down.

"Come in."

The door creaked open to reveal a familiar platinum blue haired boy, expression unreadable. Wilardo looked up, gave a nod, and then closed the door behind him, moving over to where Sirius was sitting without any words.

"...Uh? Is there something you needed?" Sirius questioned as Wilardo sat down on the stool next to him - and up close, he observed that Wilardo looked more exhausted than usual. His eyebags seemed more prominent than what Sirius had seen before - and his eyelids were more than half lidded. Overall, he seemed tired - downcast.

Something seemed wrong.

"...Sorry, uh." Wilardo broke the silence, gaze shifting away. "You... you, uh. Mind me staying here for a little?"

"...As long as you're quiet, sure." Sirius responded, tone unusually soft. "Why here, though? Is there not another place you can find solace in?"

"Noel's sleeping, and Claire and Ashe are..." Wilardo shrugged. "Claire and Ashe. Too upbeat."

"That we can both agree on." Sirius scoffed at the thought of those two, always brimming with energy. Whilst sometimes it was admirable, the majority of the time it was a nuisance to his work. Just another thing to add to his list of annoyances.

"...And... well." Wilardo dipped his head forward as he let out a small sigh. "I guess I didn't wanna be by myself, you know?"

...Huh. So Sirius was correct about his presumption - something was definitely up with Wilardo, it seemed. His eyebrows furrowed - Wilardo seemed to shrink a little under Sirius' stare.

"Is something the matter?" The lavender haired boy asked, turning more to face Wilardo. "You seem quite out of it. Did the other two do something?"

"No, it wasn't them. It wasn't anyone." Wilardo quietly replied, shaking his head a little.

"Then why are you so downcast, pray tell?" Sirius pressed further.

"...Just... a bad day. Don't really wanna talk about it."

Ah. Sirius knew all too well about those days - for him, they seemed to take up the majority of his life. He knew where they was sourced - they were mostly to do with Lady Dorothy's departure. Sometimes the odd thought about Claire or Patricia. Sometimes, it'd be jealousy.

He couldn't help but wonder about Wilardo.

But, he was well aware of the boundaries that people have. Unlike *some* people (cough, Claire) he knew when to back off. Besides - if Wilardo hadn't of said anything now, he needn't dig into the matter anymore. Wilardo just wished to stay here - and if it was going to help without him needing comfort, Sirius was more than happy to oblige.

"...Very well then. Stay as long as you like." Sirius declared after a moments silence, and turned back to his desk, opting to pull out his tutorial book on pentagrams instead of trying to attempt any further. Best to go back to the basics, he decided, opening up the book and beginning on the first page.

He was lost in the book - as he always had done with reading - until he could hear Wilardo shift a little in his seat. Deciding not to pay any mind to it - chalking it off as just a simple readjustment, his focus returned to his book.

That is, until he felt a small bump, and then a weight lay in on his shoulder. Reflexes kicked in immediately as he flinched, and looked to where the weight had settled to see the top of Wilardo's head, accompanied with soft, steady breaths coming from him.

...Oh.

It seems Wilardo was more exhausted than Sirius initially thought. For him to fall asleep on a stranger...

For him to fall asleep on Sirius of all people. What.

Sirius was sure if he looked in the mirror right now he'd be staring at something very bright red. His face was burning - as was his heart. He couldn't remember the last time he had been the recipient of physical touch - and, well.

He couldn't remember the last time he hadn't completely despised it.

Although the flames in his heart were dizzying - the weight was... nice. He didn't feel choked, uncomfortable, nor did he feel unsafe. It wasn't horrible.

That's not to say he was panicked, though - because what the hell was he supposed to do?! The last time he had so much as touched someone was grabbing Claire by the collar because of her dumb funny face routine! And now a living, breathing human was asleep on his shoulder!

Sirius wondered if Wilardo was conscious enough to feel just how stiff his shoulders were - because boy did he feel frozen.

At least 30 more seconds past with Sirius panicking in his head, still debating on whether or not to shove Wilardo away or to leave him there and resume his reading or to try and call for Claire and Ashe but he didn't know how to do that without waking Wilardo up so maybe he should pick Wilardo up and take him to his bed but how can he do that he has literally no muscle what the-

"...mmh?"

The weight was lifted. Sirius was too embarrassed to turn and face Wilardo, who was now sitting up - Sirius could see him rubbing his eyes in his peripheral vision.

"...Sirius?"

"YES?" Sirius replied quite abruptly, his knuckles white from gripping his book as he looked at everything but Wilardo.

"...Uh. You good?" Wilardo asked, voice groggy. "You're very red."

"FINE."

"...Pfft."

Sirius finally turned to face Wilardo, who was laughing quietly to himself. Sirius would've asked him as to why on earth he was finding this funny, but all he could do was glare. His voice would crack. Or he'd squeak. It would be embarrassing.

Wilardo stopped after a little - but a small smile remained, one that Sirius could spot out of the corner of his eye. Taking a deep breath, he turned to face Wilardo.

"What is so amusing?" Sirius asked, his tone low as to avoid any... vocal mishaps. Wilardo glanced up at him.

"...Nothing, nothing. But hey," Wilardo straightened his posture, his smile morphing into a smirk. "You're pretty cute when you're flustered."

Sirius could do nothing but stare as he felt the heat come back. Well, only momentarily, anyway.

"Wh- wh- WHAT?" He exclaimed - oh boy, there was that voice crack, causing Wilardo to start laughing again. "WHAT is that supposed to mean!? Are you out of your mind!?! YOU'RE the one that came here and decided to fall asleep on ME of all peo-"

"Alright, alright, chill, chill." Wilardo waved his hand, halting Sirius mid angry rant. "I didn't mean to fall asleep. I was just... comfortable, I guess."

Comfortable? What? Absurd.

"I really think you'd be more suited to, well, I don't know- a BED?" Sirius spoke sarcastically, pointing to the corner where his bed was. "I understand wanting company, but god - don't sleep on me! It's embarrassing!"

Wilardo laughed a little longer - before nodding and standing up. He didn't move, however.

"...Thanks." Wilardo spoke. "For, uh... letting me sleep, I guess." And with that, he walked over to Sirius' bed, and promptly collapsed into the pillow. He seemed asleep in an instant.

Well... that surely went by quick. Come to think of it - that might've been the first time Sirius has seen Wilardo smile - not to mention laugh. Hm.

Back to reading. Yes. Definitely not going to think about this for nights. Yep. Normal Sirius Gibson. Definitely heterosexual Sirius Gibson. Absolutely.
