"This is almost as big as you bring her to meet your family!" Luke exclaims. Reggie is about to make a quip, but he's not wrong. Reggie considers his friends his family. But he didn't tell Bailey that. He could already sense how nervous she was when he asked her to accompany him to movie night. She hasn't really met his friends, unless you count the photoshoot where she met his bandmates. Everyone of his friends is here.
Reggie and Luke distribute the popcorn bowls, one for each couple. His friend group is officially full of couples after he started to date Bailey. The bell rings and Reggie answers it, smiling when he sees Bailey. She sends him a nervous smile, which he kisses away with a light peck.
"Don't worry, they'll love you," he says, helping her out of her jacket, which leaves her in a soft sweater. Reggie hopes she doesn't get too warm. It's hot in their house because Julie runs cold, Luke hates sleeves and Alex would live in his sweatshirt if it was too cold. "If you get warm, you can borrow a shirt. It tends to run hot in here."
"I'll be already," she smiles. Reggie guides her into the living room and introduces her to everybody.
Flynn, their manager and Julie's best friend, is sitting on the armchair with her girlfriend, Carrie on her lap. Carrie happens to also be Bobby's little sister. Bobby and his wife, Kayla(she's in a girl group with Carrie) are snuggled on the loveseat. Willie basically lives in Alex's lap and they are on one end of the couch. Luke and Julie are snuggled up close to each other by Alex's feet. Which leaves the rest of the couch for Reggie and Bailey to sit. Bailey sits by the arm and Reggie sits by her. His arm goes around her lightly, worried he'd cause her to be too warm.
"So, we are starting the Marvel movies in chronological order," Alex explains to Bailey.
"I love Marvel," she says. Reggie smiles, kissing her. He leans his head on Bailey as they started the first Captain America. Reggie runs his fingers up and down Bailey's side as he friends start talking during movies. Yeah, his friends are the type to provide commentary. Reggie loves it though. He normally doesn't talk much. Bailey seems to not either. He shakes his head as Julie brings up a theory about how Peggy was definitely gonna pounce on Steve after he figured out how to defeat the flagpole.
Reggie is focused on how close Bailey is to him. She's cuddled up to his side. It's like she's meant to be there. His fingers run up and down her arm lightly, the fabric of her sweater is soft against his fingers. He wonders if he's causing her to get goose bumps. He nuzzles his cheek into her head a little. She sighs, relaxing even more into Reggie's arms. He feels his heart beat quicken in a good way.
"I can't believe he was wearing fake feet!" Alex exclaims.
"Wait, what?" Bailey asks.
"Chris Evans isn't running barefoot. He's wearing freaking bare feet!" Alex yells.
"Alex, stop ruining things for me!" Luke cries a little, getting a kick from Alex. Luke then tickles Alex's feet. Willie pauses the movie as Alex tackles Luke. Julie jumps out of the way.
"Did I mention someone ends up wrestling at least once during the night?" Reggie awkwardly asks. He's a little embarrassed. He doesn't know if he should have warned Bailey or not.
"My money is on Alex," she whispers in his ear, getting a chuckle out of Reggie.
"Luke might have muscle, but so does Alex," Reggie agrees. "He also has the height advantage."
Bailey smiles as Luke asks for mercy. Alex stands up, bowing a little, sitting back down. He pulls Willie back into his lap. Willie starts the movie once Julie kisses the pout off of Luke's face.
Bailey's legs end up on Reggie's lap. He ends up putting one hand on her knee and the other on her arm. As the movie progresses, Reggie finds his fingers accidentally move under Bailey's sleeve, running lightly on the skin on the inside of Bailey's wrist. She pulls her wrist away abruptly to his chest with a small gasp that only Reggie noticed since Flynn and Julie are crying over Bucky's death. Alex is rolling his saying that they all have watched the movies and know how it's going to end. A small argument starts.
"Are you alright?" Reggie asks, quietly.
"I just hurt my wrist," she whispers. Reggie nods, lightly rubbing the back of her hand, bringing her wrist to his lips to land a kiss to the inside of her wrist.
"Did that help?" he asks. She giggles a little, smiling happy.
"So much," she jokes, snuggling into him.
"Okay, intermission," Luke says, getting up and stretching at the end of the movie.
"Sorry, about these idiots," Bobby says. "They talk a lot."
"It's all fine," Bailey says. "I had fun."
"So, normally we watch at least one more," Alex says.
"Yeah, I can stay," she says.
Reggie notices Bailey get sleepy during Captain Marvel. She keeps twitching like she's trying not to fall asleep.
"I'll wake you up," Reggie whispers in her ear. "Go ahead and go to sleep."
Reggie has never felt more trusted as Bailey feel asleep. He also is completely ready to fight Luke if he suggests to mess with Bailey. It would be a good sign, since that means Luke likes her, but he doesn't want her to wake up with a Sharpie mustache. Luke is terrible when his friends fall asleep during movie night.
"She's asleep?" Luke asks. "Can I draw on her?"
"No way," Julie rolls her eyes. "We don't want to scare her away."
"I'll hurt you, Patterson," Reggie threatens.
"I like her," Bobby says. "By the way." Reggie gets a round of agreement. He smiles, looking down at the sleepy beauty in his arms, happy his friends approve.
"Hey, sweetie," Reggie whispers when the movie ends, trying to lightly wake Bailey up. Flynn, Carrie, Bobby and Kayla are already on their way out. Alex and Willie make his way to Alex's room. Luke goes to get ready for bed. Reggie smiles as Bailey rubs her eyes.
"Hi," she whispers.
"So, do you want to stay?" Reggie asks. "You can sleep in Julie's room if you aren't comfortable."
"I need to go home," Bailey sighs. "I have photoshoots early tomorrow."
"At least let me make you a coffee so you can wake up before you drive," Reggie says. They end up sipping coffee at the island in the kitchen. Reggie holds her hand in his. Soon, Bailey says she has to go. He is reluctant to let her leave, kissing her at the door. "My friends like you."
"I like them," she says.
"Do you have to go?" he asks.
"Yeah," she sighs.
"Call me when you get home?"
"I promise."
Reggie falls asleep on FaceTime with Bailey that night. He's the happiest he's ever been.
