“I’m so glad my awesome girlfriend is okay!”
Awesome girlfriend.
Amity had been saying those words to herself all day, doing her best to prove herself to Luz and the others, but somehow they sounded so much better coming from her awesome girlfriend.
Amity may not have stopped the Golden Guard from getting the portal key, but at least she managed to take some Titan’s Blood back from it. She looked at her glove again, she could tell the dark blue of the blood was starting to stain it.
She just hoped that Emperor Belos didn’t need the actual key itself. But why would he? Luz destroyed the portal, right?
Unless he somehow managed to repair it. The young Blight thought to herself. Then I did fail after all. And I put Luz and everyone in the Human Realm in danger and it’s all my fault.
She had to tell Luz. She had to tell her right now.
“Hey, Luz?” Amity started, catching the other girl’s attention as she was still hugging King and refused to let go. Finally, she let go of the demon, and plopped down on the couch as King scurried away to take what he felt was a hard earned nap in Luz’s room.
“What’s up, girlfriend?” The human said nonchalantly, but somehow still made the young witch blush. She shook it off quickly and sat down beside her.
“I have to tell you something. About the mission.”
“Okay! But do you mind if I ask you something first?”
Least to say, Amity was not expecting that, and immediately a thousand scenarios were suddenly running through her head, all assuming the worst.
“Um, sure thing.” She stammered. “What’s it about?”
“Did you manage to figure out the messages I sent you?”
Amity blinked once, then twice. She really wasn’t expecting that. Then she realised she forgot to answer, Luz patiently awaiting her reply.
“Oh yeah! I didn’t understand your codes at first, but King managed to help me figure it out in the end.” Amity said, pulling out her device (Luz apparently called it a Tamagotchi, and while she didn’t know what the Titan that meant, it’s what Luz called it, so that’s what she was gonna call it too) as she thought about the messages.
“U R RAD”
“FOOL’S BLOOD BAD”
“U OKAY?”
“COME HOME”
The last one made her feel especially light in her heart, and as she thought about Luz, she knew exactly why.
“Great!” The human replied, then she lowered her voice as she asked another question, as if she was sharing a secret only for the witch’s ears.
“So… what did you think about the first message?” Luz asked, fingers drumming on her thigh. “Do you agree with it?”
“There’s a fifth message? I thought you only sent me four while I was on the mission, Luz” Amity replied, clearly confused.
“Oh, I actually sent that before you left, remember?”
Amity thought back to whenever Luz had sent her a message that day, and then she remembered a particular message that she had sent that made her really happy, and how confused she was at Amity’s response.
Quickly, she picked up her Tamagotchi and scrolled back until she got to the message, and read it out loud.
“You are pretty.”
And wow, Amity probably blushed her hardest after that, at least for the day. She looked up from the small device to see her girlfriend beaming at her and blushing too, which caused her to blush even more, and now it was just two girls being blushing messes together.
“And I agree with your message, Luz. You are pretty, though I could have told you that by myself.” Amity said with a smirk on her face.
“Amity!” Luz gasped. “ You know I was talking about you!” She laughed as she moved closer to the other girl, quickly wrapping her arms around her and resting her chin on her head.
“I know, I know.” Amity giggled as she relaxed in Luz’s hold. “But really, you’re pretty too.”
Luz gave a small peck on her temple at that. “Why thank you, awesome girlfriend.” She punctuated the last part with another kiss, this time on her cheek.
Amity sighed to herself happily. She would have to tell Luz about the mission tomorrow, but right now she was tired, and she felt that she could fall asleep in Luz’s hold and nothing else would matter.
