Work Text:

Back in Amphibia, Anne and the Plantars are figuring out how to defeat Andrias once and for all. Only one thing is clear though, they all need weapons. The only problem is, Polly cant choose one. She wants them all.

“Polly! You can’t take all the weapons!”

“Yes I can! I have legs now! So I can use any weapon I want!”

Anne and Sprig were trying to keep all the weapons on lock. Then, Polly ran past them holding at least 27 daggers in her hand, running as fast as she can.

“WHERE DID YOU GET ALL THOSE DAGGERS??” Sprig had shouted, leaping after her, Anne right behind him.

“SASHA GAVE THEM TO ME!” As Polly jumped over a log, a dagger flew over her shoulder, almost hitting Anne.

Anne dodged the weapon, and continued chase. “I TOLD HER THAT YOU COULDNT HAVE ANY WEAPONS!”

Polly looked back, about to say something, when she tripped. “HEY THATS NOT FA- WHOA!”

All of the daggers had fallen into a river, never to be seen again.

“Aww man, those were borrowed daggers.”

Anne and Sprig finally caught up to her, though breathing heavily.

“Polly!” Sprig said. “We told you we would help you, you can’t just run off!”

“Yeah dude!” Anne panted. “I know you’re excited, but you might end up hurting someone.”

“Aren’t you worried that I might hurt myself?” Polly asked.

“Nope, more worried for everyone else when you have a weapon.”

“That’s fair.”

They started to walk back. When they arrived back at the house. It was around noon.

“So,” Anne started. “What kind of weapon do you want?”

At that moment, Hop Pop came into the living room. “Preferably one that’s not sharp or dangerous.”

“Come on Hop Pop! I can handle it! Im better than all of you!” Polly tried holding a sword, only to have it fall down and almost impale her.

Anne scooped up Polly while Sprig took the sword away. Hop Pop just walked off, muttering something out dying of a heart attack.

“Okay, let’s try this again Polly. And maybe let’s be more careful next time.” Anne put Polly back on the table.

Sprig had gone around the house, and collected every weapon he had found. “Here Polly! See if you like any of these ones.”

Polly had looked at the selection. There was a sword, two daggers, a mace and a small slingshot.

Polly groaned, “Come on! There isn’t anything cool here! Cant I get explosives or something??”

Anne looked at her in exasperation. “Polly, you will not have any form of explosives! We don’t want a repeat of Toad Tower!”

All three of them looked to the ceiling, seemingly caught in memories. At the same time, they all shuddered.

Polly had looked at the choices one more time.
“So i can’t use the sword, 1.) because I’m too small. 2.) Anne already has a sword, and I need to be original. The daggers are too small for me. And the slingshot is out cause it’s lame.”

Sprig took offense to this. “Hey! Slingshots are amazing!” He looked to this trusty slingshot. “Silverbolt 2.0, you are amazing.”

Anne and Polly both stared at him. After shaking off the weirdness, Anne picked up the mace.
“Polly, didn’t you want a mace once? Why not pick this one?”

Polly seemed to look appalled. “No Anne. It has to be the perfect weapon.” She kept looking over the weapons, thinking to herself.

“Polly, just pick one!” Sprig has raised his voice, tired and irritated.

“I cant. Like I said, it has to be perfect.”

Sprig was tired of this. He wanted her to pick one, so he could finally relax. “Why Polly? Why does it HAVE to be perfect??”

“Sprig, calm down! I’m sure Polly has a good reason.” Anne was trying to diffuse the situation before it escalated.

“Come on Polly! What’s so special about a stup-“

Polly suddenly snapped.
“I NEED IT TO BE PERFECT!”

Anne and Sprig, both startled by the outburst, were speechless.

Polly had tears in her eyes, that were threatening to spill. “I have to avenge Frobo. If the weapon isn’t perfect, then how can I avenge him?”

Sprig and Anne looked at Polly, then moved towards her in a hug.

“I’m sorry Polly. I didn’t mean to make you feel mad.” Sprig held Polly a little tighter.

Anne had the beginnings of tears in her eyes, and brought Polly closer to her.
“It’s alright Polly. I want to avenge him too. Him and Mar-“

Anne had tears running down her face at this point. “We will avenge Frobo. Marcy too. We I’ll make sure the king gets what he deserves.”

Polly felt a little better. She was thankful she had her older siblings there.
“Thanks guys, I think I’m ready to pick a weapon now.”

They all got up off the floor, it was then that Sprig remembered something.
“Hey! I remembered we have more weapons! They looked fancy and have a few upgrades.”

Polly jumped up almost immediately and ran to Sprig. “WHERE ARE THEY? LET ME SEE THEM! CAN THEY BLOW STUFF UP?”

Anne and Sprig burst into laughter. After a few seconds, the laughs stopped.
“Oh yeah! I remember that..”

Sprig trailed off, and looked at Anne. He hesitated before continuing. “Marcy had told me she stored them in the fwagon, before we headed to Newtopia.”

Anne froze, with new tears threatening to spill.
Polly looked at Anne and patted her leg.
“It’s okay Anne. I’ll go get them so you don’t have to.”

Anne looked down at Polly and smiled.
“Thanks Polly.”

Polly dashed out of the house and toward the fwagon. She opened the door and was flooded with memories. Of the road to Newtopia, of the truck-stop, and where they had made Frobo.

She wiped her eyes and started to look for the weapons. She found them on the small bed in the corner of the room. Polly picked them up then took two steps before she fell. She picked them up and noticed something shining under the bed.

She managed to touch something. She brought it out from under, and realized it was a box. It had a shiny covering, and big bold letters on the box. They read, DO NOT OPEN! UNLESS YOU ARE POLLY :)

Curious, she opened the box. On top, was a letter. She opened it.

To Polly,
Hey Polly! If you are reading this, then that must mean you got this gift! I must have given it to you after we left to Newtopia! If not, then how did you get this?? Something must have went wrong… it’s ok. As long as you got this then. If you are not Polly, then please give it to her! Thank you! :) I’m not going to spoil the gift in this note, because who does that! Anyways, i made this for you after we first met. Frobo even helped me! When I was experimenting with Frobo, we worked on this and did some pretty cool things! I hope you like it! Anyways bye for now!

- Marcy :) and Frobo •~•

Polly had tears spilling down her face by the time she finished the letter. She moved the letter and found a recorder on top of some tissue paper. It had a small note on top.

Frobo wanted to say something too! - M

She pressed play.

Polly, Th-ank you

I lo-b

*in the background, another voice can be heard*

Come on Frobo! You can do it!

Polly
I lo-ve yo-u
love you

You did it Frobo! Bye Polly!

By-e Polly!

Polly was in full tears. She played the recording a few times over, and every time, she cried. She put the recorder down and opened her gift. She moved the tissue paper, and gasped.

Inside the box, was a crossbow.

It was small enough where she could use it, but big enough to do some damage. It’s colors were similar to Frobo, with some purple in some spots. On the side of it, it had her name engraved into it. Polly P.

On the other side of it, had a small engraving of Frobo, with a huge smile on his face. There was a button on the same side. Polly pushed it, and the crossbow was armed. Only this crossbow had a hidden compartment. Inside were 5 boom shrooms.

Inside the box, were arrows, and more boom shrooms as well. Polly was ecstatic, she was smiling, although there were still tears streaming down her cheeks. She gathered up the box, and looked to the sky.

“Thanks Marcy.”

She looked down at the crossbow, then back to the sky.

“I love you too Frobo.”

Polly turned back to the house. She started to run to the door.

“Guys! I finally found the perfect weapon!”
