Crimson Bug (Android! Gender-Natural Reader)

Summary:

You're an android built to protect Adrien. However protecting doesn't require good understanding of movements outside of threats. Since you're an AI, you haven't got much in common with him but the activities Adrien loves are loaded into you so he wouldn't be lonely.
So when you receive the Ladybug Miraculous it's beyond your imagining. Maybe now you can finally explode the human mind!

Maybe you'll finally become more human yourself...

Chapter 1: Crimson Bug

Chapter Text

Sitting in the posh bedroom, sits the android built to resemble a human teenager which many knew you weren't from the start. From the way you talk to the way you walk, people always found it difficult to talk to you. Even the boy you were supposed to be protecting. Adrien. You know he means nothing by it, so you cancel it out like some useless information. It's not worth keeping the fact if it isn't going to assist you in your efforts to serve this family.

He should have been back by now. You close your eyes. Three heat signatures littering throughout the mansion. Three. Your eyes shoot open. All of them adult, you sense no Adrien along them. Pressing an index finger to your head, you send off your sensors and direct yourself to the school Master Adrien wanted to attend. If he was going to be anywhere, it'll be there.

Climbing out the open window, you leap from the roof to the floor without laying injures to yourself. You aren't designed to worry about mere fears such as scars or bruises or bleeding. Because you can't do either of those things. If you were to be destroyed and dismantled saving the boy you are meant to save, then so be it. Destruction, from saving his son, would be your greatest honour to the person who created you. Whoever that was.

Glancing around the corner you see him search around every corner for traces of his father or anyone. You notice him pausing in his tracks to make his way over to a fallen man. Scanning. Scanning. You mentally say to yourself. Kindness. Indeed the young blonde has always been extremely kind to everyone regardless of their appearance and personalities and that's admirable of him however it'll also be his downfall if he believes anyone can't harm him.

A pair of eyes had already landed on you during his time. Along with a frown.

"You're not going to turn me in are you?" Adrien pouts, not daring to look you in the eye.

You don't back down your firm stare. "Master, leaving the house unsupervised is going to lead to nothing but concern for your father."

Adrien almost rolls his eyes. "He doesn't care about me. I thought you'd know that by now."

"Your father wouldn't have paid my creator to make me if he didn't care for you." You stated. "Please return to the mansion with me and you can further discuss your hatred at home. But please don't direct your rage at your father."

"You're programmed to say that."

"You're correct, but it doesn't make those facts any less true."

Adrien sighs. "I'm sorry for snapping at you, it wasn't right of me."

You put on a smile. "You're only human. You only need to order me to listen and I shall." A hand grips onto yours and you notice immediately. "I'm calling Gabriel's assistant. You can't keep doing this."

Adrien's eyes become downtrodden and remains that way. Keeping you both in dead silence. You only heard the chirping of birds and the echoing voices of our humans. Adrien is as quiet as the wind, frowning at the floor. You tilt your head. Why would he be frustrated at the floor? Soon Gabriel's assistant arrives in this raven shaded limbo and brings the blonde into the car. You are about to get inside until the black haired assistant pauses you in your tracks.

"(Y/n), may you contact to the store and buy a few things?"

You nod as quick as you are asked. "Of course."

Taking no time, you close your eyes and bring up a list of categories. A matter of seconds has you opening your eyes and nodding in the line of sight of Natalie. Swiftly sliding into the backseat, you listen into what your group has to say. Mostly scolding Adrien for his actions. It all seems like the usual back and forth, until Gabriel's face appears on the navigation screen to communicate with his son.

"(Y/n), you're supposed to protect Adrien. How did he escape?" He asks, his tone very firm, yet you sense the fury in his voice at the same time.

Your expression remains still. "I didn't see him leave this time. I scanned the mansion moments after."

"That's no excuse." Your Master says, growing increasing annoyed at you. You refuse to budge an inch. This is normal. "You're nothing but a useless puppet if you can't even protect a single person."

Adrien gasps, his eyes widening. "Father, that isn't fair!" You tilt your head, wondering why he's leaping to your defence. "It's not their fault! I snuck out! They still found me in one piece!"

Gabriel raises a brow, which is his way of rolling his eyes. "You still left without them noticing. It should have noticed you were going to escape and followed you, or exactly did it's job and stopped you before you even left."

Adrien's face paled. "It," Adrien's tone begins to grow slightly angry. "You're still calling them that? They've been with me my entire life."

"Tell me, Adrien, do you see anything behind those eyes of theirs?" Adrien faces you in a heartbeat and you turn to him as a result. He frowns and lets out a sigh, as if proven wrong. "Exactly. They're programmed to be with you, since I can't. You wanted a friend, I bought you one. Be more grateful." He leaves the chat.

Adrien murmurs. "You bought me a babysitter."

The rest of the way home is quiet.

______________

Gabriel sent you out again the moment you got home as punishment for neglecting his son. You believe he's right. After all, you failed your job as protector and Adrien had snuck out of your line of vision. You should be ashamed and Gabriel agreed with your thoughts. Yet how could you feel ashamed? You are an android. You can't feel anything.
Happiness. Sadness. Love. Anger. They are all foreign concepts to you and you'll probably never learn to understand them either. The human mind intrigues you to no end. How do they have emotions? Why are they so reckless? So many mysteries even your mind couldn't solve.

Walking down the pathway to inform the school that Adrien won't be attending at all and they need to take him off the school list. Pausing in your tracks, your radars are echoing in your head. Snapping your attention to the road, you see an old man attempting to cross on a green light.

Analysing. Analysing.

Hazard detected.

Shooting forward, you latch onto the man's body. Realizing you have no time to pull him to safety, you activate your shield mode and reach out a hand to hopefully keep the driver an arm's length from the elder. You close your eyes and embrace the elder, a squeeze to inform them they're going to be okay.
Luckily the car indeed stops and you open your eyes, gently pulling the man to his feet gathering his belongings and a wooden cane. Bringing him to the pavement you scan his body to show signs of brewing bruises or scars or marks.

Confirmed. He's harmless.

"Thank you, young one."

"No need to thank me." You mention, tilting your head as a question. "You must understand that crossing on a green light is a terrible decision. You could have gotten yourself killed."

"I know."

You narrow your eyes, scanning for a reason why the man seems so calm. "So why did you cross?"

He approaches you with an item in his hands. "I just wanted to be sure of the decision I was going to make."

Soon he leaves and you stare at him. Why carrying a cane when he doesn't exactly require it? Turning around you start to make your way to your destination. Listening to the audio of human life forms, you soon enter the school and click on your scanners. Eyes transforming red, analysing mostly every room you find a group of children exit the classroom. The same one Adrien yearned to attend.
A collection of students bunch together in either groups or on their own. As they waltz past you, you find yourself feel eyes fix to you. Pausing in your motions, your eyes meeting a pair of dark brown ones. On further inspection he wears a bright green shirt and suspenders connecting to his jeans. You scan him another time, waiting for him to say a word to you. A moment passes and you can't waste anymore time not completely your mission.

"W-Wait!" The boy calls out, you refrain from climbing the stairs to face the male.

"Hello." You carefully, and carefully, allow your voice to speak out. "Have you got a question? I haven't got much time."

The boy with glasses looks you up and down, then as if getting hit by a cold splash of water his eyes goes wide once more. "You're an Android?"

Why is this his concern? You're always visible as an android. It shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. "I'm indeed an Android. To what does this concern you?"

"I've just got a couple queries."

You shake your head. "I haven't got time. I must complete the mission I was assigned."

The boy's eyes go dull, life draining from them as he turns to the floor. "Oh, right. Sorry. Please, don't allow me to stop you."

"Thank you for your kindness." You bow, you go towards the stairs. Not turning around to see whether the boy has left, you simply enter the principle's office.

You enter the disabled toilets, in hopes of quickly getting into contact with Natalie claiming your mission was fruitless. He wants Adrien's blood relations to confirm this for him and you are struggling to get in contact with Mr. Agreste. Instead your mind locates the urgent news channel, with a red haired reporter telling the population about a stone supervillain. What? Supervillains don't exist. It's a simple fairy tell people love, a trope in superhero stories. This isn't a fictional story.

A box is on the sink. Your eyes glance over it in an attempt to mentally, pry, what's located in the box. Failure. You grit your teeth. You aren't some failure! You swoop the box into your hand opening it up. A flash of light blinding you in a blink of an eye, you just stare right into the blur. A creature, the size of your palm appears before you.

"I'm a Kwami, and my name is Tikki. Nice to meet you, (Y/n)."

You blink. "How are you aware of my name?"

The small red creature floats in the air, smiling. "I just know."

"That isn't exactly an answer. I am unaware of what you are as well. You lack any form of technology in you, meaning you must be a living life form. However I've never seen anything quite like you."

"That's because no one must know I exist." Tikki begins to explain, glancing at the box soon after. Following her gaze your own lands on a pair of spotted earrings. "With those you can transform into a Ladybug themed superhero. Your power is creation."

"I apologize, but I'm not designed to keep secrets from this mansion." Going to your menu, you go to phone Gabriel.

"No!" Tikki zooms towards you, worry flicking on her face. "Please, don't! You're the chosen one! You were picked! You can chose outside of your programming to do these deeds! Believe in yourself."

"I was created to protect one person."

"Why only protect one when you can save millions?"

You pause. "What? I apologize about my lack of understanding, but I am not exactly sure of superheroes. The boy I keep safe watches them all the time, so I know the calling of one. However I never understood their full ideals. I don't understand any ideals."

"Then allow this to be your starting point." Tikki smiles, picking up the earrings and directing them to the android. You glance down at them and take them off the tiny bug's hands. "Allow me to explain further." Her cute voice chirps. "When you fight an Akumatized victim, you must use your power it's called 'Lucky Charm'. Once you call those words out, you'll get a randomized object that'll assist in defeating the foe."

"I hate to interrupt, however I see a flaw in this ability." You slide the rings into your ears. "I know it's all based around luck, but you can't survive with sheer luck alone. What happens if I get a charm that's beyond my imagining?"

Tikki shakes her head, calming saying, "That won't happen. Your powers allow you to put together a plan. Spotting areas that may be useful to you. After trapping the enemy, you'll grab the object and grab the Akuma. After de-devilizing it you'll let it go and revert the city back to it's normal appearance. As if nothing ever happened. However after using your power, you've only got five minutes before you transform back."

"Okay, this is uncanny."

"Don't think about it. Just say 'spots on'."

"Spots on?"

A moment has your shrouded in light, covering your body from top to bottom. The small creature no longer in sight. Locking eyes with the mirror, it glaring back at you as you notice your outfit had changed into that of a skin tight, jumpsuit, mainly red with black spots scattered throughout the material.
Black feet and collar as well. A mask shielding your eyes. Placing your hands on your waist, you twist to get a better view of your new appearance. What in the world is this? A gasp has you eyeing up your arms, black instead of red with red instead of black spots. With this brief gaze around, you latch onto the object attached to your side. A yo-yo? Why would you require a yo-yo? It's not a useful weapon for battle.

Wait...

Your skin is no longer metal, instead it's human skin. Slowly you trace your hand over the smooth flesh and you breath halts in your throat. You glance at the box again and slide it into your pocket. Maybe you'll get your information later, until then you must save the people. Adrien is at home, he's safe with his father. Taking this villain down will save him in the long run. It's worth the risk.

You throw open the door and swiftly throw the yo-yo to capture the head of a building. Then your feet fly off the ground and sends you into the air at a speed denying you of retreating in this moment in time. As if your luck couldn't get any worse, your string detaches from the roof and sends you spiralling towards the ground. Oh, no. In an attempt to retrieve your balance, you aim your weapon for the pole connecting from one building to another. It makes its way there just fine, but then you become fully aware of the person tight roping his way across it.

Your string grabs onto his body instead. Sending you both down, tied together you swing from side to side staring at each other in the eye as you hang downward.

The other just smirks. "Well, hey there! Nice of you to drop in."

You then notice the black, leather, cat suit he's wearing and realize he's the partner Tikki had informed you about. You'll take this convivence any day of the week. You detach him from your form and then, with a calculated tug, you recover you yo-yo from the silver pole.

"I bet you're the partner my Kwami told me about. I'm--" He pauses, pressing a finger to his mouth. He clicks his fingers, purring at the name he made for himself. "--Chat Noir. Yeah, Chat Noir. And you?"

"I wasn't aware we had to make up names."

Chat Noir chuckles. "New to the whole superhero thing are ya?"

You just nod. "Sorry."

"No worries, I'm sure you'll get the hang of it eventually." He beams at you. "Just stay by me, we're partners after all. I have your back. And I'm learning the ropes too, so if you see me yowling please come to my rescue."

You tilt your head. "Why would you be yowling? You're not really a cat."

The blonde blinks as if bewildered by your query. Then a sudden quake thunders through the floor and your eyes land on the stone monster rampaging through the city. Chat Noir doesn't waste a moment before using his staff to make his way to the location of the foe. You face your weapon. Why is this your way of defending yourself again? Completely impractical. You go to increase your stamina but it doesn't work. What? There's no time to loose!

You catch up to Chat Noir.

A roar of a name is cried out and your eyes land on the massive rock beast and you extend the string to your target, bending your leg to leap towards the Akuma victim. The second you were in the air, you let go of your grip on them and flip in the sky until you are behind them. Nothing but a shadow.
The students start to rush away, as Chat Noir stares at you with eyes reflecting awe at your movements. You clash your fist into the foe, however in the blink of an eye they increase in size with a yellow aura surrounding them.

"Chat Noir!" You call out out. "I need your assistance."

Your partner comes to your side immediately. "He grew from your attack!"

"I took note of that." You glance around. "I just don't know what to about it. This is paranormal."

The black cat only smirks. "That's super villains for you." The then clutches his fist. "We'll just have to use our powers." You go to instruct him to stop, however he'd already shouted out his keyword and his hand is blooming with levitating spots of darkness. "Apparently I can destroy anything I touch." He smirks, you only deadpan and shake your head.

"You can't just--"

He doesn't listen as he touches the goal, completely tearing it into a mess of dust on the otherwise bright lime green field. "Cool! Just you and me now!" He starts to dart towards the enemy. "Time to rumble soon to be rubble!" He clashes his hand with the foot of the stone being, except nothing happens. He's already used his turn, he mumbles to himself nervously before he's shot back with a hand.

"Listen, now you've only got five minutes before you transform back." You alert the other, the boy sheepish placing his arms behind his head.

"I guess I was a little excited about my new life."

"Okay. I'll try my new ability then." You throw your yo-yo into the air. "Lucky charm!" A suit then falls into your hands. "What am I supposed to do with this? My Kwamii did say that I have to break the object were the Akuma is hiding."

"Well, he's made entirely of stone."

"Indeed, you're correct." You nod and then on closer inspection of your enemy you take note of a simple fact. "His right hand. It's shut. I haven't seen him open it. The object of his emotions must be inside of there."

"What do you expect to find?"

"Unfortunately I wouldn't know where to begin. I just hope my calculations are right."

He blinks. "So what's your plan?"

"The hose." You wrap your hand around the item and connect the end to the hood of the suit. "May I have permission to launch you towards the foe?"

His head shoots up to greet your eyes. "You're crazy!"

"We've only got one shot at this!"

"Why are you asking for my permission if you're just going to do it anyway?!" Chat Noir alarmingly says, his slit pupils even more tiny than a moment ago.

You looks down. "It isn't right to do things without permission."

With that he just gazes at you and, after taking a long breath, agrees to your plan by nodding. You whip your yo-yo, latching onto his feet and then swinging him towards the foe's hand. Your plan works, the being grabs a hold of your partner and has no time to react to you leaping ahead with your lucky charm in hand.
He drops a small crumbled up piece of paper, dyed purple, as he takes you hostage instead. You glance across at the young boy finding refuge in the side of the stadium nearby the tap for the hose.

"Can you activate the tap?" You call out and the ginger haired boy, without a second thought twists the tap resulting in the water flooding down and into the suit. Extending the hand you are trapped in, you set yourself free and smash the paper with your foot. A purple butterfly raising to the air and eventually flies off into the distance.

You couldn't hear Chat Noir has he says. "This person is awesome. They're crazy awesome!"

The object soon reverts back to a normal balled up piece of paper and you narrow your eyes. You poke it. Then again. Then again. Pouting you wonder if this is some kind of witch craft. You don't know what that means but Adrien says it a lot.

Chat Noir turns to you, smiling from ear to ear. "You were incredibly, uh--"

"Please call me Crimson Bug, it is easy to remember."

He bows, a purr flowing from his lips. "Well then Crimson Bug. You were amazing!"

You tilt your head. "I only did was required of me, I don't deserve any praise."

Chat Noir steps closer to you. "Of course you do. You saved the day. You should be proud of yourself, those skills you showed are what I see in a true superhero."

Processing...

Processing...

"Anyways, we can't find out each others identities, so I best get going!" He says, as he extends his staff and shoots off into the distance and over the stadium. "I hope to see you again soon!"

You blink. Still processing what happens you go to leave, however a grunt has you face the source. The stone's true form lays on the grass. Glancing at the sky once again, you make your decision to glance in the letter. The note read.

You haven't even got the guts to tell Mylene you love her. You wuss.

What's a wuss?

Analysis confirmation complete.

Keyword. Love.

Turning to the boy, you begin to walk over to him. You bow down to his level, you refrain from any physical contact and instead listens to what he has to say first.

"Kim wrote it he's always making fun of me."

Making fun? Kim? Why doesn't this boy expect you to know these things?

"It's unfortunate someone is "making fun" of you. But--" You pause, attempting to find the right words in your installed glossary of words. Nothing comes to mind. Only silence.

"E-Excuse me..." The same boy from before, the one who assisted you, steps forward. "Are you a superhero?"

"My honest idea is that these powers are of the superhero kind."

He mumbles to himself, barely audible for you to hear. "Awesome."

You don't whether you're relieved when someone, a girl, directs a phone in your face.

"Uncanny! Amazing! Spectacular!" She smiles. "Are you going to be protecting Paris from now on? How did you get your powers? Were you bitten by a radio-active Ladybug?" Where did she get that idea from? Oh I've got tons of questions to ask you! , uh--"

"Crimson Bug." You answer, then turning the green eyed boy besides you. "Thanks for your assistance again today. It was very much appreciated."

A red tint crosses his cheeks. "Of course, no problem."

You nod and attach your yo-yo to the nearest building and you are on your way.
