Work Text:

Ganyu considered herself to have a good work life balance. Sure, occasionally she took on more than she could handle and ended up in a feverish haze, desperately attempting to finish both her and her coworkers tasks in time for the latest deadline, but that only occurred about twice a week. Even if she only manage about 4 hours of sleep every night, she was still able to spend time with Keqing at work so there was nothing to really worry about, right? She didn’t pay this weekly struggle any mind until her girlfriend decided to confront her head on.

“You need a break,” Keqing stated, standing firm and peering at the half Qilin from behind a mountain of paperwork. The Yuheng was exceptionally good at bending people to her whims without struggle, but Ganyu was stubborn. She required interference.

“I’m fine, really! I just need to get this done. Now based on the reports from the Feiyun Commer-“ sleepily started Ganyu before being grabbed from her seat by her girlfriend.

“What?! Where are we going?” Ganyu said, furrowing her brow. She still had tons that needed to be completed by the evening.

“Lunch. I heard Wanmin has a new salad bowl and it sounds like just what you need,” Keqing said as she practically dragged Ganyu out of the pavilion.

When they arrived at the restaurant, Ganyu tentatively took a seat across from Keqing, pouting as she slumped over the menu. What was she doing here? It was her duty as a Qixing to finish her work on time and aid anyone who wasn’t able to. She didn’t have time to be going on cute lunch dates with her sweet girlfriend! And on company time no less–

Ganyu’s thoughts were interrupted by a hand coming to rest on hers. She looked up and saw Keqing, smiling softly at her. Despite the kind gesture, her eyes were filled with an anxious worry that Ganyu knew she was the cause for.

“I think you’re working yourself to death. When was the last time we went out like this?” Keqing asked quietly. Ganyu knew the answer: Too long ago. The qilin lowered her head and spoke softly.

“I just have so much to do,” Ganyu murmured.

“Only because you take on other people’s work and never give yourself time to relax,” Keqing held her hand tighter, pleading with Ganyu to allow herself to take time to herself.

Ganyu nodded reluctantly, putting her free hand over Keqing’s in silent agreement. She needed a change of pace.

Keqing smiled softly and allowed them to sit in silence for a few minutes. They took in each other’s presence in the rare moment of reprise from their busy lives.

Rousing herself from the tender moment, Ganyu gazed down at the menu and spotted the item that Keqing attempted to entice her with. It did look rather good, didn’t it? The two women ordered and spent the rest of the meal talking and enjoying each others company. They idly discussed each others day, holding ordinary, but pleasant conversations. When the time came to return to the pavilion, Ganyu found herself wishing for more.

From then on, their lunches became a daily occurrence. Ganyu finally had time for a break and Keqing was able to spend time with the one she loves.
