Florance's pov

I was in the comfort of my lovely estate, reading a book in front of the lit fireplace. I sighed softly and shifted in my cozy lounge chair, thinking about the human who usually comes over to help me with the garden outback. 'They are late….' I thought to myself as I looked at the grandfather clock that was ticking and tocking away in the corner of my den, or as some people call it, the living room. I gently put my book down and get up to go to the kitchen to look at my schedule calendar that is hung up by the fridge.

“Hmmmm, they were supposed to be here an hour ago….I hope they are alright.” I hummed to myself and was about to go back to the den when the doorbell rings. “My my, whoever could that be?” I asked myself with a small chuckle as I walked towards the front door.

“I apologize, my lady; I didn't mean to come by so late!” The human I just concerned myself over says when I open the door.

“No worries, Mystie; it is quite alright.” I chuckled softly as I let the now flustered human inside. I smile at them as I close the door behind them and lead the way to the garden.

The human was oddly quiet as we headed to the back to tend to the garden together. I wonder if they're alright. We then get the supplies we need before getting straight to work on the garden. I couldn't help but sneak glances at them while we tended to the garden. I frown, noticing how flushed they were, and they looked to be thinking pretty hard about something.

I couldn't take their silence anymore and stopped working, looking at them. “My dear, are you alright? You've been as red as the roses since you came here….are you sick?” I asked them, making them pause and look at me.

“No, no, I'm not sick, my lady! Honest! I'm fine!” They squeaked out, their face still as red as the roses. “I was just thinking.” they mumbled, going back to work avoiding my gaze.

I frowned more and gently cupped their cheek to make them face me before I placed a free hand on their forehead. “Not a fever...are you sure you're alright, dearie?” I spoke as I looked into their eyes as they flushed a deeper crimson.

“I'm fine; I promise, my lady.” they spoke softly as they gently leaned into my hand. “Actually, my lady, I wanted to ask you something.” they said softly and had a look of seriousness as their flush died down to a soft pink.

“Ask away, Mystie.” I chuckled, smiling at them. Then it was my turn to flush when they gently took my hand from their cheek and held it into their own.

Mystie sighs softly and gently holds my hand. “I was wondering if you had a lover, my dear lady?” they asked, looking into my eye lights as if searching for answers.

I was taken aback by this question and was even more flustered. “A lover? Who if their right mind would ever love an old bird like me?” I asked as my face was probably the same shade of crimson Mystie's was earlier.

Mystie grew flustered again. “Me, my dear lady.” they said, looking away from embarrassment.

“But why?” I asked, gently squeezing their hand, looking at them confused but still pretty flustered myself.

“W-w-well, my lady, you're very beautiful. And you make me feel all fuzzy inside when we tend the flowers together or doing anything together, really. What isn't there to like?” They spoke, looking back into my eye lights making me flush more as I looked back into their eyes, searching for a lie or false meaning, but all I see is love and compassion in their eyes, making this warm fuzziness fill my soul as my whole skull flushed a deep crimson.

“I...My dear, you do know I'm a skeleton, correct?” I asked, still pretty flustered, and squeaked a little bit when they gently kissed my glove-covered hand.

“A beautiful skeleton, my lady.” They said honestly as they smiled warmly at me. “I...would you like to go out Sunday evening?” they hesitated before asking me, looking a little nervous.

“I would love to, my dear!” I said, a little too happy for my liking, but at least I will have something to look forward to on Sunday.

They smiled more and gently kissed my hand again. “Then it's a date.” they said before getting back to work on my roses, leaving me a flustered mess.

We tended my garden for a while before Mystie had to go home. I showed her to the door when it was time for her to leave. As we bid each other good night, I was flustered once more, thinking of what Sunday night would bring and what to wear, and why do I feel like such a schoolgirl. I hide my red face in my hands.

“Ugh, hopefully, I can calm myself tomorrow for now; I need to eat before going to bed.” I grumbled to myself before going to the kitchen, making myself something small. After I eat, I get prepared for bed, hoping to figure out how to handle Sunday.

*with Mystie*

Mystie's pov

I soon got home and was very, very flustered as I covered my face with my hands, squealing to myself, being happy and nervous all at once. I can't believe she agreed to go out on Sunday. Ah, to the lovely audience who's confused with who I'm speaking of….I'm talking about my dear lady. Lady Florance is the sweetest lady I know. Though the town has other opinions about her, I still find her beautiful. See, my lady offered me a job at her estate about a year ago. I honestly never knew why she wanted me….then again, I am the only human who knows of magic and how harsh the townspeople are, so I guess to find comfort in knowing someone knows the hardships living among humans.

Anyway, to the point, even though lady Florance is kind, she still knows not to let anyone take advantage of her kindness. Though I kinda had that problem before I met her….anywho she's taught me a lot, and I look up to her, but I also love her. I mean, at first, it was just her being a role model for me….but as time went on, she grew on me, and I love her very much. Heh, I remember the first time we tended the garden together. She was so happy that day. Her smile was as beautiful as a sunrise, and her laughter was a delight as well.

Gah, I'm rambling a lot, aren't I? I apologize; I….really fell hard for her, huh? Huh? I hear someone calling my name. I jumped back against my front door, startled. “Mystie! Mystie! Are you fawning over that woman again?” my mother walks over, snorting at me.

I grew very flustered at my mother's words. “Yes, I am!” I squeaked out, embarrassed my mom caught me daydreaming about my lady once again.

“Did you finally ask her out?” my mother asks, getting all excited about me finally finding someone. She and I went to the kitchen to have dinner as my mother continued to ask me if I asked her out yet.

I huffed and was very red at this point. “Yes, mom, I did.” I finally said as the two of us sat down to eat. “And she accepted. We're going out on Sunday.” I said, slowly eating my food.

“Eeeeee, tomorrow we're going to get you new clothes to impress her!” My mom says excitedly, looking determined to make this date work.

“Ah, mom, I got it!” I said with a slight pout.

My mother stares at me before snorting. “You and trying to look nice for a date? Yeah, ok, nice try, Mystie but last time you tried going in, you're overalls, and that was a disaster!” she says with a huff before eating as well.

I roll my eyes at her. “It was one time! And I was exhausted!” I pout at her as I play with my food, not really in the mood anymore.

“Mystie, all I'm saying is you need a woman's touch!” my mother comments as she eats. “So let me show you tomorrow. Cheer up, kiddo. I just want this woman you're so fond of to not put you down like that jerk.” she adds, patting my head.

“I know, ma, I know.” I said softly before eating again so I wouldn't worry my mother. After I eat, I go to my room to get ready for bed because I'll definitely need sleep. After all, tomorrow will be hell.

-next day-

Mystie's pov

I was being dragged all around the market for nice clothes by my mom. I hated every minute of it! Ugh, I wish I did this alone, but my mom looked so happy to help me with this, so I didn't say no...but this is unbearable. She thinks I wouldn't do a good job, but I picked out a gray button-up shirt and some jeans, then she tells me that's too "boyish" whatever that means…..only to pick out the same fucking thing to say she was helping.

Ugh, moms, I tell ya...anyway, we're now looking for nice shoes, and I see some nice dress shoes. “Hey, mom, what about these?” I asked, picking up the nice black shoes from the hook.

My mom takes a good look at them before nodding. “Yes, those are fine.” she says before taking me to the checkout. As we leave, we walk home after paying for my stuff. “Where do you plan on taking her?” she asked as we walked home. Thank God we live a few blocks away from the store.

I gave my mom a smile. “I will tell you after the date.” I said, earning a small pout from my mother, but I wouldn't tell her anything about the date tomorrow.

Florance's pov

I was looking through my wardrobe thinking of what I should wear for the date that was supposed to be tomorrow evening, but I wanted to be prepared since this would be my first date in a few years…..and I want to look presentable for this date.

And I'm flustered again...I don't know what Mystie sees in me. I mean, I'm old, a skeleton, and I'm technically their boss and their friend, and yet I'm still flabbergasted by them; ah, this is confusing for me.

“Hmm, let's just give them a chance. I mean, it wouldn't be that bad.” I mumbled to myself as I found the pink dress I don't really wear anymore. “Perfect! And I have accessories to match it as well!” I giggled to myself before covering my face. “Ah! I'm such a schoolgirl right now!” I said in embarrassment.

Anyway, now I should prepare for them to visit later so we can clean the horse pins. Hopefully, it's not too dirty. I mumbled as I got my garden wear again to set ready to get to work.

After getting dressed in my garden wear, I heard the doorbell ring, and I couldn't help but smile. I walk to the door with a hum; when I open the door, the human greeted me with a hug. “Afternoon, my lady! I'm sorry I was a little late today.” they chuckled, smiling up at me.

I couldn't help but smile more, hugging them back. “That is quite alright, Mystie! I was just about to get the cleaning tools.” I chuckled and ruffled their hair.

We soon separated from our hug, and I closed the door behind them. Then we went out to the back to get the tools from the shed before going to the horse pins. It usually takes us about two hours to clean the horse pins before moving on to cleaning the horses. Today though, it took longer because we didn't stop talking to each other as we worked making cleaning the pins by themselves take five hours. Then when we finally moved to clean the horses, it took three hours to finish cleaning them.

Heh, heh, what? We totally aren't two goofballs going on a date tomorrow, and I'm not nervous at all!.....Ok, I might be a little nervous but only a little!....ok, maybe a lot more nervous than what I thought I would be. I don't know why though it's just Mystie and me. Not like we haven't been working together for a long time.

Mystie then gently placed a hand on my shoulder. “My lady? You ok?” they asked me, being concerned as they had just finished cleaning the horses.

“Yes, yes, tomorrow has me a little nervous, is all.” I said softly and flushed softly, being embarrassed by the butterflies in my "stomach"

Mystie smiles at me. “Oh, it's ok, my lady; I promise I have taken care of everything.” they said, bowing to me as if they were my butler.

“Oh my dear, you flatter me!” I giggled and gently raised their head up to gently place a small peck to their forehead. “Anyway, you should get home; it's pretty late.” I said softly and was embarrassed once more, flushing a bright red.

Mystie was a bright red as well, and they stammered as we walked to the gate. “G-g-g-goodnight, my lady!” they stuttered before leaving out the gate.

I bid them goodnight as well before going back into my home to prepare for bed, still pretty flustered.

-the next evening-

Florance's pov

I was getting ready for the evening out with Mystie and was pretty nervous. “I hope I look ok.” I said to myself as I put the finishing touch to my look for tonight, my beautiful hat. “And I hope I'm not too early to get ready.” I mumbled as I flushed more, being embarrassed.

After waiting for about three minutes, the doorbell rings and I rushed to the door, my soul beating heavily against my rib cage. I opened the door and was greeted by a bouquet of lovely red roses. “My lady, I arrived.” came Mystie's soft response, moving the flowers out of their face.

“Oh my dear, you truly spoil me!” I cooed out as I gently took the bouquet of roses in my arms, smiling happily as I smelled them, and they smelled perfect too, perfect to be market bought.

“I grew them myself. I hope you really like them.” Mystie says, flustered, making me smile even more. Then I noticed their attire and hoped mine was just as lovely.

“Ah, no wonder they smell so divine! Truly, a work of art, my dear, and you look handsome as well!” I said, still blushing and hiding my face behind the roses.

“Thanks, you look beautiful as well, my lady!” Mystie says, gently moving the flowers away from my face smiling at me. “May I have the honor to lead you to our date?” they asked, holding out their hand for me to take.

I giggled before nodding, locking my door behind me. Then I took their hand in mine while holding the roses in the other. “You may.” I said before the two of us leave.

We went towards a small café, and I was amazed at how cozy it was. The two of us have some tea, enjoying a cup of earl gray, my favorite, and surprisingly, it was Mystie's favorite too! Wow, we have a lot more in common than I initially thought.

After finishing our tea, we took their small automobile to the drive-in theater to watch an old romance movie. I was enjoying the film and had subconsciously grabbed Mystie's hand, holding it gently. I didn't notice it till Mystie gently squeezed mine in return, making me flush slightly but didn't say anything against it as we continued to watch the old film. When it got to a kissing scene, Mystie had gently kissed my gloved hand.

I flushed even more. “My lady, after this, I have one more place to take you this evening.” Mystie says, smiling at me. I was really flattered at that and nodded, smiling back. I wonder what this last surprise was for this evening, especially since the stars had started coming out halfway through the movie.

After the movie ended, Mystie drove over to a hill before parking below it. “We're here, my lady.” they say as they get out of the car then walk over to my side, opening the car door for me.

“Hehe! Oh, you!” I giggled, getting out of the car myself. They closed my door before gently taking my hand and taking me up the hill. When we got to the top of the hill, I gasped, seeing a small picnic set up. “Did you do all of this just for me?” I asked, looking at them as my soul went red.

“Well, I had a little help, but anything for you, my lady.” Mystie says, smiling at me before gently kissing my hand. Then the two of us go to the blanket, sitting down and enjoying the peaceful night as we eat and stargaze.

My soul fluttered. They did all of this just for me. I'm so happy at how this date went….I then saw a shooting star. “Look, Mystie, a shooting star!” I giggled, pointing at it, making them look and smile.

“Yea, I see it. Make a wish, my lady.” they said, still looking at the stars.

I smiled before leaning my skull against their head. “But I have everything I could ever want...well besides one thing.” I spoke, looking at them, still pretty red.

“And what's that, my lady?” Mystie asked, now looking back at me curiously.

“You, my dear.” I said before gently cupping their cheek and pulling them into a kiss.

Mystie blushed before melting into the kiss, kissing back. And before you know it, we made out under the stars. After that, the two of us stayed close to each other as we continued looking at the stars.
