Chapter Text
Tomás and Davide, two of Inés’s officers, were on an early morning tail of a stocky man with a mustache who they knew worked at Botiga de Pneumàtics Delmar.
Suddenly, the stocky man stopped, turned, and confronted the two officers. "May I help you two gentlemen with something?"
Tomás and Davide met him face-to-face.. "Are you Ferran Olivero?" Tomás asked.
Depends who wants to know and why," snapped Olivero.
The two officers showed their badges as Davide responded, "We have a warrant to search you and your place of work."
"What?! Why?" growled Olivero.
Tomás explained, "We have it on good authority that you are in possession of some stolen diamonds."
"That's BS," Olivero huffed, "but have at it anyway!"
The officers conducted a thorough search but found nothing. They phoned an exasperated Inés, who ordered them back to the station forthwith.
No sooner did the officers depart than Olivero quickly dialed a number. "Si! We've got to move the stones today. The cops are getting too close. Si! We stick to the original plan. There's a car coming in for new tires here today. I'll plant the diamonds and the tracker in the wheel wells so we can intercept it later. Get the van and Larmarca and meet me in the usual place."
