After Pierce's funeral the group arrives in the study room, everyone is talking about how Pierce lived his life, about how they felt at the funeral.
Jeff: "He's gone early, but he won't be forgotten anytime soon"
Stone: “You're right Mr. Winger"
Jeff: "Who the hell are you?"
Stone: "My name is mister Stones"
Troy: "That's easy for you to say...and us"
Stones: "I worked for Pierce...he specified in his will that no matter how natural his death seemed, an investigation should determine if anyone within the group planned his death."
The study group look at each other in surprise at the revelation.
Stone: " For that all of you will answer questions with the polygraph"
Chang: "You guys are in trouble haahah"
Stone: "Mr. Chang I assume, you too are a suspect and will participate in the test"
Chang: "Okay, but I'll ask the questions"
Stone: "I can't allow this"
Chang: “Just ok then”
The polygraph is placed on everyone in the group.
Annie: "I can't believe Pierce can think one of us killed him"
Britta: "This is clearly a violation of our rights"
Stone: "We'll start with Miss Perry, please say your name"
Britta: "Britta Perry"
Stone: "Did you feel like you were the third wheel in your relationship with Troy?"
Britta: What? No!"
Stacy(polygraph girl): "Lie"
Britta: “What kind of question is that? I thought this was to find out if one of us killed Pierce"
Stones: "I'm just asking what's on the form Pierce left I guarantee"
Troy: "Britta, did you feel that way?"
Britta looks at Troy apprehensively, "A little...I always felt that you enjoyed spending more time with Abed than with me when we were dating."
Troy looks at Britta with a feeling of anguish but can't deny the fact.
Stones: "Mister Nadir, please say your name"
Abed: "Abed Nadir"
Stones: "Is it true that you imitated Han Solo in the last paintball because you knew you were a Jeff-like character and wanted to test how much that would affect Miss Edison?"
Abed: "Truth"
Annie: "Abed!"
“What happened in the last paintball?” said Jeff apprehensively looking towards Annie.
Annie looks away from Jeff's gaze
Abed: “I wanted to test the chemistry of a possible Jeff/Annie relationship, I believe every plot needs an internal couple and our show failed twice with Jeff/Britta and Britta/Troy and since evil Jeff and evil Annie are a couple on the darkest timeline i believe this could be the couple to support the group, like Chandler and Monica.
Jeff: "Abed, there are no other timelines"
Stones ignores the group's uncomfortable stares and continues.
Stones: "Mr. Winger, please say your name"
Jeff: "Jeff Winger"
Stones: "Mr. Winger are you in love with anyone?"
Jeff: “What!? Of course not"
Stacy: "It's a lie"
Everyone looks at Jeff in surprise.
Shirley: “Oh Jeffrey is in love, that's nice” she says looking at Britta with a suggestive and not-so-subtle face. Annie notices, but doesn't comment, lowering her face with a sad look.
Jeff: "This must be broken, there's no way I'm in love with anyone here"
Stacy: "That's a lie"
Everyone in the room instantly turns to Jeff again, Abed is the only one who looks at Annie noticing him gaze she turns her face away.
Shirley: "I knew it Jeffrey! Was just a matter of time to see his feelings for Britta, you two are so cute together"
"Shirley, I'm not in love with Britta," Jeff said, clearly irritated by the turn of the situation.
Stacy is silent and everyone realizes that what he said is true...
Troy: “So if you're not in love with Britta…you're in love with…” Everyone turns towards Annie who looks at everyone with a surprised face turning to see Jeff clearly trying not to look her in the eye.
Shirley looks at Jeff with an unhappy face.
Stone: "Mr. Winger, haven't you told the person you're in love so far because you think you don't deserve her and that she has a much bigger future than staying here in Greendale with you?"
Jeff notices all the group's eyes on him and decides it's no use hiding anymore.
Jeff: "Yes"
Annie looks at Jeff with a totally passionate look, unlike the Google eyes Shirley is used to and for that reason doesn't say anything.
Stone: "Miss Edison, please say your name"
Annie: "Annie Edison"
Stone: "Are you in love with Mr. Winger?"
Annie is surprised by the question, but looks into Jeff's eyes and can no longer deny the fact, unlike what happened when Abed asked the same question two Years ago.
Annie: "Yes"
"Oh my God" says Britta still surprised by so many revelations, "I thought you just had a crush on him"
“Annie…” Jeff looks at her and for the first time in his life he doesn't know what to say.
They both stare at each other, but this time, no one dares to interrupt them until Abed decides to speak
Abed: “I don't know why you're surprised, this is the development audiences have been waiting for after 5 seasons of long looks and stolen glances, if there was a magic door that just opened with a feeling from one person to another, I'm sure that this door would open no matter who the two used it.”
Chang: “There's no way such a door exists, but I didn't understand, weren't you two already together? Or is the surprise to know that they love each other?"
Jeff finally decides to speak looking into Annie's eyes
Jeff: "It's like Pierce wrote Annie..you have a much bigger future ahead of you than being stuck with me here in Greendale, I won't ever forgive myself if I mess up your future."
Annie: “Jeff who says you're stuck in Greendale? Of course, I wish one day I could go out and visit other places but having you by my side would never hinder me, or do you think someone can hinder Annie Edison when she decides to do something?"
Jeff smiles at her and everyone in the study room looks at the two trying to hold the “Awww” so as not to get in the way.
Stone: “With that completed the questions on the form, Pierce left a last message for you Mr. Winger and Miss Edison.
Stones: “Jeff and Annie, over the years I've been able to follow your relationship that started as friends, became best friends and even though it was obvious to everyone around you never had the courage to take the step forward. Annie may have started as a crush on Jeff but then I noticed how you were looking at Jeff as he spoke..I noticed that none of my 7 ex wives gave me such a loving look. Jeff, you may have started this study group to get into Britta's pants but what did it last? 9 episodes as Abed would say, we all realized that after the debate you changed and we know who you changed for, so I believe that you will never mess up her future like you think, all you need is to be honest with her and never hurt her because as you know she's my favorite, but she's her favorite too and I'm sure of all the people in the world you're her favorite.”
"You're my favorite" says Annie with watery eyes thrilled with Pierce's speech.
"You were always my favorite" Jeff says taking her hand on the table and looking at her as if at that moment there were only the two of them in the world.
Troy: “Anyone have a handkerchief? A speck got into my eye....”
1 year later
Britta: “Are you sure about this? Is it only 10 weeks!”
Jeff: "I've been separated from her for 5 years, it won't happen again"
Jeff is at the bar next to his fiancee as they say goodbye to their friends before Britta takes them to the airport for Annie's internship at the FBI.
Britta: “Are you sure it's not your jealousy talking? Not that Annie would do anything, we know she's loved you since you asked her to dance that first Halloween, but the ring you put on her finger takes away most guys' chances to get close to her."
Annie looks at the engagement ring and then kisses Jeff on the cheek.
He looks at her smiling and they keep looking at each other as if time has stopped
Shirley: "These Googly Eyes were more discreet when they weren't together"
Jeff smiles
