Work Text:

Did it matter to him whether he was early or late? Of course not. But did it matter for someone he's waiting for? Yes. His ruffled uniform has been problematic for the one he's meeting.

Gojo had time to think about what he wanted to say. Before sitting on the grassland, the guy admired how calm the riverside was. The town had so much better place for them to meet, but both of them knew this place: trees situated between the grassland downhill the river and a pavement road.

To avoid people from recognizing someone who ditched class, he wore a black cap, good enough to hide his face and his white hair. Unfortunately for him, someone knew his look all too well.

Maybe he was too early, he thought. Not until someone greeted him with a tackle making him fall under the touch of a guy which smelled like sunflower and rainbows.

"Well hello, Getou," Gojo said after all the grunts he did trying to be on top of the long-haired man. It seemed like he was too weak when it comes to him. Looking up, the sunlight seeping over the trees blinded him. Or maybe he was blinded by Getou's apprearance.

"I thought you are stronger than me?"

"Yes. Only if you hadn't attacked me from behind, I would be on top of you instead."

Truthfully, he didn't want to dirty the other one's neatly pleated uniform. His hands seemed cold when he accepted the reached-out hand from his companion.

Gojo patted Getou's back. "Why are your hands so cold? It blazing hot in here."

"Yes, only because I bought ice cream and popsicles," Getou Suguru protested, revealing a plastic bag from one of his array of stuff.

He laughed, although the other one probably got shy and sat below the tree, two meters away from him. Gojo followed him, took half of the popsicle and gave him a headpat.

There was a cool breeze coming from the water, and the splashes from the river made the place calmer than usual. Both of them can see the view of the town and the city not that far.

There was so much to look at the scenery that both has somewhat wished this place could be theirs one day. Everything seems like a dream.

"You're unusually quiet today Getou. Is everything all right?", Gojo turned around him which was much focused on writing something.

Getou looked at him shyly. "I'm writing something important." Again, he looked at him intently.

"Much more important than me? That sucks," him now pouting. It did not do much effect.

Nodding in response, Gojo gave one of the cardboards he had in his bag to him. "There, you can write easily, since it's important."

The crisp air hits his face. Both of them now leaning over the tree, enjoying the breeze. He has considered his bag as a pillow to sleep unto. Not until Getou offered his lap.

Who am I to refuse? Gojo thinks as his pillow got upgraded. Considering the fact that its still afternoon, he had the urge to ask if he'll be late for his classes. They aren't even on the same school.

"No, my classes starts 2 hours later. I have time. Don't worry," him letting Getou play with his white hair felt like heaven. Gojo chuckled and put some of his worries away, trying to not sleep and enjoy this time.

He'd always get scolded on why all he does is nap when they meet. And he claps back and instead says about how the other one writes whenever they meet.

Not today, though. He lets Getou write, now sitting beside him. Having previous attempts to give him more support, Gojo's pleads have been declined.

His partner has finished what he wrote, tucking all the paperworks away. The ice cream hasn't melted so they had time to eat.

"Hey, remember the teacher that I introduced you about?" Getou asked, opening some chips. and taking some of it.
"Yes, did something happened?" He was always open for gossips.

His partner explained his new gossip. One of his teachers has been married recently and Getou was invited. Explaining how marriages work, both of them agreed that being chosen as the best man is one of the greatest profit in a wedding.

"I mean you get to eat much there," the other one protested. He agreed on the thought of it. Marriage and the future looked like a long way for them.

At least in his mind, the future isn't set as what the ones planning it would end up. "We're both turning 19 and we're still single."

Getou sighed in response. He sighed for the second time and took a deep breath.

"If we're still single by the time we're 25, we have to get married," Geto propmtly smiled triumphantly by the idea he blurted out.

Gojo almost choked on his chips. "What are you talking about?"

Getou explained his proposal. Gojo willingly agreed, since he knows that it'll never happen on both of their cases. He has too much time to wander around and loves freedom. The other one focuses too much on the studies and is also popular from its own school.

There is a high probability that Getou will be in a relationship sooner or later. Whenever he visits him on his school, he'd be greeted by girls looking not for him, but for his dear friend.

Gojo yawned.

"Get some sleep, cutie. I'll be here," Getou reassures him.

Indeed, the place made him more sleepy than ever.

"Let's take a nap together," he invited one to sleep on each other's shoulder. What a peaceful sight.

Gojo woke up from the sunlight hitting his eyes once again. He was now leaning on something. His suitcase and coat was on his right. Long grass welcomed his touch, the orange skies making him remember how much he liked to look at that scenery for a long time.

He felt a cold sensation from his left hand. Gojo sighed.

"So you're still here, like what I thought." He looked sideways, hiding his face. Leaves falling, cold weather and himself too. From where he was sitting, he could still see the lovely scenery. Its riverside now filled with moss and uncut grass plus the pavement still intact.

Gojo straightened up his tie, took his suitcase and revealed a small box. Clearing his throat, he once leaned on the tree. The familliar scent and sensation enveloped him once more.

"I won't nap again, okay? I just realized how much you cherished your time with me. I should have known, Getou," he spoke with all his might.

But then again, no response. Yet he knew he was there beside him, listening to each words he was saying. Gojo continued.

"Silly, you could have told me that you wanted to marry me right here. Why write it on the paper? And the said proposal was just dumb, I have a ring for us right here." Gojo tried not to let his feelings overwhelm him.

He slided onto his left and reached his hands out, putting it downwards. It's still cold, he thinks. Patting it, he puts his right hand with the box of rings, admiring it. The sun glistened on the rings.

"I guess the timing has to be right. Look, I'm ready whenever. I even wore a suit too. It's not crumpled, too. Being a 25-year old kinda sucks too," Gojo chuckled at his own words.

"Just... come back to me."

Silence enveloped the place. Gojo slowly retracted his hand away from it. The skies have started to become darker. He stood up, wore his coat as he puts the box inside his pockets.

"I'll come back as always, Getou. I'll miss you."

Walking away from the tree, he had one last look behind him.

The grass definitely needs some cutting, or the tombstone wouldn't be seen.
