Work Text:
It was a cold winter day. Small chatter here and there from middle-aged women and little children in playgrounds filled the air. Everywhere except the room of the Mashiro household’s son.
Muffled laughter from around the house filled the room as Tomoya and his beloved childhood friend (and crush of 3 years) sat in a comfortable silence with a script and a random fantasy book each.
“Ughh..I just can’t figure this out!” Tomoya says for the third time that day, causing Hajime to look at him in concern.
“Is something the matter, Tomoya-kun? You’ve been sighing all this time,” The blue-haired kid asks. “Is it something I can help with?”
“Ah no, sorry for making you worry..It’s just...For the next play the drama club is putting on, there’s a part where we have to slow dance but the thing is, I don’t really know how to do it properly and I really don’t want to mess this up!” Tomoya complained.
“Hmmm~ Maybe I could help somehow?” Hajime suggested, tilting his head to the side (which made Tomoya’s heart flutter a bit)
“You mean like..We dance together?”
“Ah! Umm..yes! If you don’t mind, of course!”
“Of course I don’t mind, Hajime! You’re willing to help, how could I say no?” Tomoya assured as he gave him a smile.
“So uh..How do we do this?” Hajime asked, letting out a small chuckle. “And we should probably clean up the floor if we’re going to be doing any dancing.” He continued, pointing at all the books strewn across the floor.
The both of them started picking up all the stuff off the floor and moved the table in the middle to the side. The more free space there is, the fewer accidents there would be. And with someone as clumsy as Hajime, it was very necessary.
“Okay soooo..First, put your...right, no, left hand on my shoulder,” Tomoya instructed as Hajime followed, reviewing the notes he took after researching this stuff beforehand. “Next, give me your right hand~”
“Uwahh dancing with Tomoya-kun like this is fun~” Hajime chirped before the light-haired boy added that they hadn’t even started dancing yet.
“Next, As I put my right leg forward, put your left leg back, okay?” Tomoya began, putting his leg forward before giving Hajime a nod.
Hajime followed, putting his leg back. They continued repeating the steps, almost finishing a whole rotation until Hajime accidentally stepped on Tomoya’s foot and stumbled backward, causing Tomoya to instinctively move to catch him like those main characters in high school rom-com movies.
He looked at the face in front of him. One he found to be the cutest in the entire galaxy. His adorably cut bangs. His beautiful purple eyes looked like they contained the whole universe in them. The eyes that softened with every smile. And how could he forget those lips. Every single word he said, every lyric he sang, he somehow made Tomoya's heart set ablaze with that alone. And those smiles he always gave him. Whether it was when they shared a glance during class or one after a live, they always seemed so bright, they could melt even the coldest person's heart. Oh and don't even get him started on how cute they looked when they were pulled together in a pout because of some homework question he didn't understand.
The two of them stayed like that for quite a while. Tomoya had to try hard to hold back from just leaning down and kissing those soft-looking lips, just inches away from his own.
“A-Ah..Umm..T-Thank you, Tomoya-kun..” Hajime stuttered out, his face red.
“Y-Yeah, it’s uhh..It’s nothing” Tomoya replied with his face just as red as the blue-haired. One day he’ll definitely muster up enough courage to confess and get a feel of those soft lips. One day, he’ll be able to call Hajime his boyfriend.
But until then, all he could do was enjoy small moments like these.

“Uwahh that was fun~” Hajime chirped, plopping down on the floor, the usual gentle smile on his face replaced by one that could replace the sun with how bright it was.
“It was! Thanks for the help, Hajime!” Tomoya thanked, sitting down beside him. Sneakily placing his hand on the blue-haired's.
"It really felt like you were my prince!" Hajime continued, turning his head to the side so it was a little too close to Tomoya's.
Tomoya felt his face great up a little at the sudden closeness again. This is the second time this evening.
"Eh? Tomoya-kun are you alright?" Hajime asked, leaning forward more. Tomoya muttered out a small 'why do you ask?' before the blue-haired continued. "Your face is really red so..Do you perhaps have a fever?" He leaned even closer, putting his forehead to the other's.
"H-Hey..Hajime?"
"Hmm..Doesn't seem like you have a fever..."
"Hajime!"
"Ah I'm so sorry! What is it?"
"I uh..I have a small question," Tomoya began, trying his best to avoid eye contact and finally settling his eyes on the floor. "What if I told you I liked you?"
"Eh? I thought you already liked me though?" Hajime asked, a little bit of concern in his tone.
"No no, I mean like..love kind of like! Like umm...Romantically?" He explained, his heartbeat getting faster by the second.
"Ah."
"Hajime? Hajime???"
Hajime snapped out of his trance, face just as red as Tomoya's. He opened his mouth, but all that came out were random words and noises.
He then took in a deep breath, attempting to calm himself down.
"I would..I would return those feelings..." Hajime said in a small voice, really close to tearing up.
"Oh uhh..So umm…Shino Hajime! My beloved childhood friend! My oasis. Someone who has been by my side for so long! I..I love you! I've loved you for so long! You've always listen to me and try to help me with all my problems. Listening to your voice relaxes me no matter how much I'm panicking. I always look forward to holding your hand and walking to school with you. Every single thing you do makes my heart flutter..And just talking to you makes my day so much better and you're the sun in my life and...I really just love you so much."
Dead silence.
Tomoya began to panic.
What was he supposed to do? What was he supposed to say?? Oh god oh god oh god why did he do this??????
"Tomoya-kun..Tomoya-kun I-" Hajime managed to say as he broke the uncomfortable silence before squeezing the other's hand. "I..I love you so much as well. I have for a long time! I still can't forget the time you carried me in junior high..That was the day I realized my feelings for you. That was the day you became my prince."
"Hey, Hajime? Can I kiss you?" Tomoya asked, seeming shocked at the words that came out of his mouth as if it was only supposed to be a thought.
"I- I umm..Yes, of course" The blue-haired answered in a small voice.
Tomoya leaned forward, closing the small distance they had between them. The moment their lips met, he melted. With how soft Hajime's lips were. And he swore he could taste a bit of sweetness still there from the tea they drank earlier. He felt like he was in another world entirely. One with only the both of them. No more worries, no more insecurities, just the both of them.
However, what felt like an eternity only lasted for a few seconds.
He pulled back, to see Hajime's adorable face just as red as his. Tears spilling down his cheeks.
"Eh? Are you alright? Did I do something wrong?" The light-haired boy asked, the panic evident in his expression.
"Y-Yes! I just umm..I just got too happy and..and"
"Oh god, I love you so much, my oasis," Tomoya said as the panic settled into a gentle smile, wiping the tears away from the blue-haired's cheeks.
"I love you too, my prince"
