Work Text:
Peter watches the suit camera video of Siberia. Peter sits by his mentor's bedside. Peter can’t sit next to Tony while knowing that the man who hurt him is walking off with no consequences.
So Peter does what any genius kid who’s close to losing his father figure does. Peter finds where the rogues are. and then Peter contacts Wakanda “my father may be dying and i wish to let the man who tried to kill him know exactly what’s happening.” simple yet effective.
Wakanda let’s him come but sends out their own jet. If he weren’t so worried about tony he’d compliment their technology and ask all sorts of questions.
Peter had sent them the suit footage and Tony's medical diagnosis when they asked exactly how bad it was.
When Peter arrives, T'challa lets the unwanted guests know that they were to report to the living room where they were met with a teenage boy.
“Who are you?!” Rogers practically yelled
“Why are you here?” Wilson asked
“I'm Mr. Stark's personal intern.”
“Stark doesn’t take interns.” Romanov said in an almost snarky voice.
Peter didn’t even try to hide his eye roll “If people knew he took interns then think of all the danger those interns would be in.”
“Why did Stark send you then? He's making kids do his dirty work now?” Barton questioned gruffly
“Actually Mr. Stark can’t send anyone anywhere seeing as he’s still in a coma. I'm here of my own accord.”
“That still doesn’t answer why your here.” Wanda piped up.
“I'm here because my mentor was beaten half to death and left trapped in a broken suit in the middle of nowhere, he’s been in a coma for two weeks straight,” this information seemed to surprise them all but before anyone could interrupt Peter bulldozed on “and the worst part is none of us knew what happened, we had to watch the suit cams. Do you have any idea how horrifying that was?” he stared directly at Rogers “To watch your friend and father figure be forced to watch his parents murder? To watch him lose himself to grief and lash out? To Watch him realize that someone who he thought of as a friend, someone he trusted, had kept the reality of his parents' deaths hidden from him for years? And then to watch him be beaten half to death by America's golden boy?”
“He hit first.” It’s a weak argument.
“He lashed out because he was in pain! He just watched his parents be killed in front of him!”
“He gave as good as he got. It's not my fault that he picked a fight he couldn’t win.”
“A fight he couldn’t win? He was holding back. The suit has missiles in it for god's sake! if he wanted you dead it would have been childsplay.'' Peter was nearly dumbfounded on how arrogant Rogers sounded “And as good as he got? Pray tell then, how are you standing here with not a scratch while he’s unconscious and hooked up to life support?”
Peter pulled out a hologram device” Would you like to see the damage you caused? No? Well too bad let’s look at it anyway.” Peter pulled up the x-ray of his father figure “It took Dr. Cho's cradle to save most of his skin and limbs. Keep in mind that Tony already had health complications and his chest was far weaker than that of an average human. Let's look at the full damage huh? Blunt force trauma to the head, broken arm in three different places, fractured leg, internal bleeding in multiple areas, partially collapsed lungs, all of his ribs were broken, his artificial sternum was shattered and that’s only counting the injuries done by you directly, but let’s look at the frostbite shall we? You see he was lying on a broken suit with no heater for seven hours before we could track and find him. With surgery done he’s lost 4 toes, two fingers, multiple finger tips, the tip of his nose, and half of his left ear. He had hypothermia when we found him.” Peter looked around at everyone, Wilson and Romanov were staring at Steve, Barton's eyes were fixed on the ground, Lang and maximovs eyes were watery, Steve looked horrified.
Peter turned the hologram off. “Even with the cradle we’re not sure if Tony will ever wake up or even survive. And if he does wake up? The sheer amount of trauma he’ll have from this experience may just destroy him.” he turned to steve “I’ve lost a lot. I've been an orphan most of my life. I met Mr. Stark when I only had one living family member left, when she died he took me in and helped me cope. I might be losing Tony soon, he’s like a father to me, understand? And while you might not lose much sleep over causing the death of an ex-teammate, an ex-friend, the people who truly cared about him will suffer, and the world will be worse off without him. Now I'm going to go back to my father’s bedside and pray that he wakes up. I hope your actions haunt you for the rest of your pathetic life.”
