"What am I supposed to do with him?!" Hylla looked at the newborn placed in her arms, then looked up again at Thalia now starring at her. The baby boy wasn't older than a few days, maybe even a week. He had some thin brown hair and wore a blue striped onesie, with a lion drawn on the front.
"I- I-" the lieutenant started, "Hylla... What did you do?"
"OH, NO! I DID NOTHING. HE'S NOT MINE!" Hylla drew a sigh of relief "I found him near a trash bin placed behind the Amazon warehouse. I thought it was a trap or something like this but I noticed he was... human. I didn't know what to do, I didn't want to show him to the other amazons there and there are stories about Artemis adopting abandoned children so I thought... Well, yea."
"You thought you could give me the responsibility!" As Thalia said the last thing with an higher voice tone, the tiny boy started crying. Hylla looked disconsolate at Thalia, silently asking for help. The Queen of the Amazons started bouncing the newborn, movement that helped him to calm down some minutes later.
"So? Are you going to help me or not, Grace?"
Thalia immediately became red as a tomato. She hated her surname and Hylla knew, so the Amazon used it on purpose.
"My surname? Really, Arellano? Pff. You are pathetic. Hand me that baby, c'mon. You don't know how to do it..." The hunter proceeded to take the baby boy and placing him now in her steady hands. Immediately, her mind went to think about the first moment she hold Jason, when she was just a little girl. Painful memories that she thought erased.
"I'm better than you, look! He's falling asleep now." The daughter of Zeus said, looking now at Hylla with a curious sparkling in her eyes.
"Girl, are you trying me? Do you know that I basically saw Reyna coming into the world and completely raised her? You are not better than me." Thalia tried to hold an amused smile that Hylla noticed but did not want to show. The daughter of Bellona now lowered her eyes to the baby being bounced slowly by Thalia. He looked strangely cute.
"He doesn't have diapers with him."
"Obviously he doesn't. If his mother left him there, genius."
"Maybe she was just in need."
"You can't leave a baby alone like this!"
Silence fell.
"Look at him... He doesn't even have a name. He doesn't have fault... Poor thing."
As Thalia said this, Hylla she realized that the daughter of Zeus had a much warmer heart than she thought.
"He's cute..." so Thalia agreed.
"I've never seen cute newborns. They are all ugly even when they grow up." Hylla added.
"Gods..." Thalia said, holding another smile, "You are right, you really can't stand children."
