Work Text:
Deimos woke up. He was sleeping in the bed, with his face looking to the wall next to him.
He heard a sound of two person chatting inside of his and Sanford’s room.
He knows Sanford’s cheerful and welcoming voice.
He didn’t expect the other voice to be Hanks’. And that angers him.
Although they lived together- in a raided A.A.H.W building- they have made a couple set of rules. This is so that they both could coexist peacefully while doing their given missions together, at least that’s what Doc said. Though some of it could be expected to be broken as not all could be faithfully followed.
There are also certain rules that they swore to not be broken.
One of it being Sanford and Deimos should not let Hank get inside their rooms for personal and security reasons, and since Hank had a previous grudge on both of them, especially Deimos’.
Deimos kept his thumbs up, promising Doc to ensure that he would follow the rules. Plus, he hated Hank deep down; though he was chill with him.
Now.
Back to the present.
And Deimos didn’t even dare to rise up from the bed, yet.
He heard those two voices again. Sanfords’ and Hanks’.
They seem to chatting bit louder than normal.
He couldn’t quite know what’s the context of the conversation, but he damn knows that it doesn’t involve with him with the slightest.
Their tone of voice while talking. They seemed to be happy; especially Sanfords’.
God, Sanfords’.
If there’s one thing that he doesn’t want to allow is that Sanford talking to Hank. Especially with that tone of voice. It should be him he’s talking to, not Hanks’
He never heard Sanford’s voice that happy. Maybe they talked about something that caught his interest, and it seems it did.
Then he hears Sanford, asking permission to take a leave for a moment while Hank allows him to do so, leaving only Hank and him, ‘sleeping’ in the room.
He’s still not rises up from the bed, nor even faced towards him at any chance.
He should be woken up, not eavesdropping their conversation like this.
He couldn’t tell if Hank was looking at him while Sanford wasn’t in the room, or he was just simply thought that he is still sleeping.
Then, he heard their door opens, and Sanford talking to Hank once he enters the room.
Hank just simply talk back to Sanford, while he chills, acting as if the rule that was made for both of them didn’t exist at all.
Deimos could feel a small streak of tears coming out of his right eye.
Goddamnit, why on earth did he started to cry?
He tries his best to stop more tears streaming down and tries his best not to sob, avoid from being heard by Hank and especially Sanford. He could feel a lump build up in his throat.
He shuffles his body inside the blanket, and it seemed none of it causes any both of them to become suspicious.
His mind then flashes some kind of intrusive thinking that he might woke up and lunges his pillow onto Hank, shocking the latter; or woke up, went to Hank and attempt to choke grip on his neck; or even rise up from the bed, looking at both Hank and Sanford and proceeds to bang his head onto the wall next to him countless times, causing both to be surprised and Sanford tries stop the latter.
He tries to think of any happy thoughts to block out those mindless thinking, but instead causes more tears running down to his cheek.
He tries to smear the tear with his pillow, roughly tilted his face onto the pillow and back.
It worked but the tears starts to build itself back in his eyes.
Then, he thought of one thing.
Yeah, yeah maybe.
Maybe that’ll help his mind loosen up a little.
He proceeds to rise up from the bed.
Sanford might be next to him, as he only sees Hank sitting on a chair next to their desk.
Hank doesn’t look at him, instead his red goggles fixating onto Sanfords’ tablet, which he already knows how to open the password on that shit.
He gets out of the bed, not looking at them and enters the bathroom, not flickering the bathroom lights open.
He gets out by the other side of the bathroom door and went straight to the canteen.
Just as he enters the kitchen, he grabs an empty mug finds a certain container.
He eventually founds the container; which inside was varieties of coffee packets. He takes out one of it which was pink in colour.
He finds a kitchen scissor and cut open the packet and pour the coffee powder inside of the mug. Then, he proceeds to the water heater, pressing and holding a button for the heater to pour out hot water.
The water didn’t enter the mug, and spills out on the table.
He tries again. Holding and pressing the button.
The water didn’t enter the mug, and spills out on the table.
And again.
The water didn’t enter the mug, and spills-
He moves the mug front, finally the hot water enters the mug.
Once it reaches ¾ inside of the mug, he releases his finger from the button, then looks at a transparent container with sugars inside.
Usually he will put about 2 large spoons of sugar whenever he makes his mug of coffee, but this time he brushes it off and went out of the kitchen.
At the living room, he found Doc with lots of open boxes. Some of the box was open, and inside of it were tenths of bleach products, which they probably didn’t need. His eyes behind his angry-looking goggles are fixated to a tablet he was holding. It seemed that he didn’t notices he was there as well.
Deimos went to Doc, and tries to find an empty chair to sit. Unfortunately for him, all of the chairs that were available was occupied by the boxes.
Deimos sighed, left the living room with Doc still on the floor and went back to the kitchen.
He sits on one of the table chairs which located at the end of the table; the side of the table ceiling lamp was turned off; and stares at his mug of coffee for a minute. He lays down both of his hands and put his head on them.
Soon after, he proceeds to drink it slowly. His tongue buds feels hot, and the coffee taste bitter without the sugar.
Then, he heard the door to his and Sanfords’ room open, revealing Sanford went out of the room.
Deimos didn’t take a glance at him and continue drinking the coffee ‘till half as Sanford sits at the other end of the table. He could feel that Sanford looking at him.
The door creaks open again, and this time, Hank goes outside of the room.
From the corner of his eyes he could see that Sanford’s head follows Hank as he goes to the living room.
Sanford turn his head back to him and sighed. His eyes softened, clearly know what’s the matter with his roommate. Without saying a word, he then proceeds to enter back into their room, leaving Deimos alone in the kitchen.
Deimos could feel the tears staring to build up in his eyes again, then proceeds wipe the evidence out with his left hand.
This, however, causes Deimos’ right hand, which holds the cup accidentally slip and spill the coffee off onto the table.
He watched as the mess of that brown liquid spreads out on the table.
Whoops.
Oh well.
He didn’t have a chance to finish the coffee he made.
Deimos deeply sighed, proceed to find a rag, soaked it with water and wipe out the mess that he did.
At least there’s something to keep his mind out of that intrusive thoughts.
Maybe he would follow Sanford along and apologize to him for being so weird tonight.
He might ask him to not allow Hank getting into their room next time.
