Breathing in the cherry blossoms that bloomed above her head, Trinity let out a deep sigh. The mixture of the beautiful Japanese flowers and the salty smell of the stream below her were a calming and relaxing setting. Trinity leaned her elbows on the edge of the bridge railing, taking in the rare silence.
Finally, she felt as if she could relax for a change. That is why she came to Tokyo in the first place - together with having to do her duty and perform a couple shows. However, today's schedule was thankfully slow. Trinity had no other obligations until later this evening, so she decided to take a walk.
Which is how she ended up on the stone pathway, a short way from her resort she was staying in. She walked until she came across a bridge and stopped to do some much needed thinking. The last few months had been upsetting and almost sent Trinity in a downward spiral. Still, she had promised herself she would not let that happen.
Finding her ex-boyfriend and best friend in bed was a shock. However, thinking now, she was not surprised.
Bobby McKenzie was the lead singer of a pop rock band in Scotland. Trinity had met him three years ago, at an award ceremony. She fell in love with him to the point she would do anything to make him happy. She would have walked the ends of the earth just to make sure he smiled every day, and that was something he loved about her.
Trinity wasn’t sure what was true or not, but if there was anything, he loved deceiving her even more. Bobby liked that Trinity was naive enough to believe his lies and give in to the temptation of what she thought was love. It was toxic and manipulative. That was Bobby’s love.
Bobby’s love was so addicting and magnetic that Trinity believed him when he said, “There is nothing going on with me and Lottie,”
That proved to be a lie, but so had happened with the other women before Lottie. It only took Lottie for Trinity to finally leave him - and it wasn't the fact that Bobby had whisked himself and Lottie away, to Hawaii, openly showing displays of affection and going on dates, leaving Trinity to find out this horrid scandal on Twitter. It was how he acted afterwards.
Trinity and Bobby were still in a relationship then. They were never even broken up. And when Trinity called and texted him, Bobby didn’t even have the decency to respond. Instead, he responded with a tweet. “We broke up already. Stop obsessing over me.” So Trinity was humiliated and chastised on Twitter: people laughed and mocked her for days, as if his tweet proved that they had not been in a relationship prior to that.
It was mortifying and brought her self-esteem down immensely.
Trinity, hid in her house for two months, just waiting until everything died down enough that she was able to continue life without the mocking. But the paparazzi and media were ruthless. They followed her everywhere and even slept outside her house behind the gates. Trinity felt like she had no escapade.
And then her manager texted her about Tokyo. She decided to take the chance to escape from LA. And now, with a week left of Tokyo, Trinity was dreading to go back home.
But Tokyo proved to be more that it looked like on pictures and the anime she casually watched. It was a beautiful city, with the most elegant and respectful traditions. Trinity loved it here. She did not want to leave.
But life calls.
Trinity sighed, glancing at the branch above her head. Reaching up, she gently pulled off a flower and held it carefully in her hand. She almost felt like the flower bulb in her hand, delicate and sensitive. Treat her irresponsibly and she will be ruined: just like that flower.
She sighed and let it drop in the water. Leaning her elbows on the edge of the bridge railing, she watched it sail away. The moment was quiet and still until a voice interrupted her silence.
“Hello, there.”
His voice sent immediate chills down her spine. It tingled all the way down her back and stopped at her toes. It was... pleasant to hear. Trinity slowly turned her heart to find a man at the end of the bridge watching her.
And, boy, was he handsome.
This strangers voice matched his face. Trinity could tell he wasn’t Japanese: he had a prominent jawline with very nice cheekbones, his hair and eyes so black that they surveyed her from head to toe. He was handsome - almost too handsome. If Trinity were into one night stands, she would've definitely taken up his offer.
However, she wasn’t. She simply looked at the stranger and smiled.
“Hello,” she replied. The stranger smiled at her and Trinity wondered where he came from. He was dressed in a white dress shirt, black tie, black dress pants and shoes that probably cost a fortune. He was a well put together man. What was he doing out here?
He stood with his hands in his pocket and slowly approached her.
“Do you mind if I admire the trees with you?” he asked as he came to stand next to her.
Trinity stared at him, confused. A man like this wanted to watch flowers with her?
Why?
“S-Sure," she stuttered, turning back to the stream in front of her. They stood in silence - neither of them quite knowing how to make conversation. Trinity could smell his cologne from the slight breeze of the wind and he smelled wonderful; she knew for sure that he came from wealth.
Who was he? And what did he want with her?
