Clint turned to look at Tony when his friend and teammate joined him in the TV room.
"Is that you and Phil's wedding video?" Tony asked, tilting his head toward the TV screen that Clint's little girl was watching from the sofa.
"Pippa likes to watch it. She's too young to understand why it breaks my heart," Clint said, wiping the tears beginning to drip down his cheeks.
"I'm sorry," Tony said, rubbing Clint's back.
"Can you keep an eye on her," Clint asked. "I just can't watch this.
"Of course," Tony said. "I'll entertain Pip, you do what you need to do."
Clint nodded and fled the TV room.
Tony walked around the sofa and sat next to Pippa
Pippa smiled up at her Uncle Tony and leaned into his shoulder. "Where did Daddy go?"
"He was sad," Tony said.
"J.A.R.V.I.S., will you stop this please?" Pippa asked.
"I thought you wanted to watch this," Tony said as the video paused.
"I like hearing Poppy's voice," Pippa said.
"Are you saying shut-up, Uncle Tony?" Tony asked.
"That's rude, Uncle Tony," Pippa said.
"But, you still want me to shut-up," Tony said.
"I have questions first," Pippa said.
"I'm Uncle Tony; I have answers."
Pippa giggled as she wrapped her arms around Tony's arm.
"Is this about your daddy?" Tony asked.
Pippa nodded.
Tony sighed as he tried to think of what to say to the preschooler.
"No answers?" Pippa asked.
"I have answers," Tony said, "but they're grown-up answers."
"Try me," Pippa said.
Tony laughed. "I'm beginning to understand why I frustrated Howard."
"Whose Howard?" Pippa asked.
"My dad," Tony said.
"What's frust--" Pippa asked.
"You're too smart for your own good," Tony said.
"You and Uncle Bruce are smart," Pippa said.
"Have you noticed we get in a lot of trouble?" Tony asked.
"Oh," Pippa said.
"So, bring on the questions?" Tony said. "I want to watch this video."
"Why is Daddy sad?" Pippa asked.
"He misses your poppy," Tony said.
"I miss Poppy," Pippa said. I never got to meet him."
"I know you didn't," Tony said. "I wish you had."
"Why doesn't Daddy like to watch the wedding?" Pippa asked. "I like to hear Poppy's voice."
"I think it makes your daddy miss your poppy more," Tony said.
Pippa chewed her lip, looking thoughtful. "J.A.R.V.I.S., play please."
Tony watched the screen as Clint and Phil made their way down the isle surrounded by grapes instead of flowers and wondered where the winery was. He thought Pepper would enjoy taking a tour.
