Chapter Text
8 September 1964
Two young beautiful women were making their way down to Hogsmeade. One in a pretty and expensive looking blue dress and the other in an equally pretty orchid pink one. Probably just as expensive as the blue too.
While a grey pair of eyes followed the form of the gorgeous blond in blue, a dark pair of eyes, almost black, followed the form of the beautiful curly haired brunette.
The young women, though, didn’t notice either of them. They were laughing with their heads thrown back laughing about something only the y knew. He wanted to know though. Wanted to know what made her laugh. What made her throw that curly head of hers back. And he would know.
If he wasn’t so quiet, maybe she would notice him more. Would she laugh at his accent? No, she wouldn’t. She may be a Slytherin, but she would never do something like that. At least he hoped so.
When she was out of his sight, he turned his head left to look at his blond friend who was already looking at him.
“Why don’t you just talk to her, Antonin? It's pathetic to look at you drool over just the sight of her.” Lucius Malfoy said.
“ Don't act so superior, Lucius. It's not like you act interiorly yourself when Miss Black is around” Antonin Dolohov retorted. Salazar, he hated that accent. It was extremely embarrassing to even admit it to himself, but it was why he didn’t like to talk much with many people around. And there was always more than one person around Miss Black and Miss Dagworyg -Granger.
Lucius snorted and then said “We have a marriage contract. Of course, I'm obligated to act like a true gentleman I'm her fiancé. That’s more than some would say about you and Miss Dagworth-Granger. ”
Antonin´s face twisted into a sour grimace and gave no answer to Lucius. Instead, he collected the newly finished Charm´s scroll and his quill. Lucius did the same, though with elegance. Like a true Malfoy , Antonin thought trying to keep the sneer of his face. Lucius and he were friends, yes, but Merlin he could be annoying.
They both walked tall and proud towards the Slytherin common room. Lucius sat elegantly down in one of the green leather sofas while Antonin went straight to his bed chambers which he shared with Malfoy and the youngest Lestrange, Rabastan. They were all in their sixth year which just started about a week ago.
Miss Hermione Dagworth-Granger. She was a year below him. He first met her in his second year, her first. He remembered it clearly. He had o ften thought about that night since it happened.
A boy, slightly too tall for his age, with black hair and dark eyes was staring out at the Black Lake. It was moments like these he wished he was back in Russia. Where they wouldn’t tease him for his accent . Where he wasn’t ashamed of his own voice.
A small finger poking his shoulder startled him out of his thoughts. He turned his head to the person and saw a small girl with a big curly mess around her face. He remembered her from the sorting. Dag-something-Granger. She was sorted into Slytherin. A first-year. Great, just what he needed. Some small little lost girl .
When he didn’t s ay anything to her, she spoke up.
“Are you okay?” her small light voice asked. Antonin tried to stop himself from widening his eyes out of surprise. Why was she asking about that? Had some of the older boys sent her to tease him more? Probably.
“Why do you ask?” he asked back, not trying to keep the sneer out of his voice or face. The girl however, seemed to ignore his rather rude response.
“I saw you out here all by yourself and it's almost curfew, so I just wanted to remind you. What house are you in? You look older than me so what year are you in? Third? “ she said, excitement clear in her voice. So, she wasn’t sent by the older boys, Antonin thought. And Salazar she asked talked much .
“Slytherin, second year” he replied curtly trying to say as little as possible .
“Oh okay....well...my name is Hermione Dagworth-Granger. I have to go now” Miss Dagworth-Granger gave him a small smile before she began to walk away. Suddenly she stopped and turned to him again.
“ What´s your name ?” she asked and even though it was dark Antonin could still see her honey-brown eyes glint in the moonlight.
“Antonin. Antonin Dolohov.”
“Antonin!” Rabastan Lestrange woke him up from his memory .
“Yes?” Antonin hissed back. He ran a hand t hrough his hair and while his eyes got used to the light. He must have fallen asleep.
“Dinner starts in five minutes, we need to go” Lestrange replied. Antonin gr unted but got up anyway. Rabastan and he quickly walked towards the Great Hall where Lucius probably sat at their usual place with a stone hard expression waiting for them. But when the big oak doors opened, and Antonin looked towards the Slytherin table he found he was wrong. Yes , Lucius was sitting at the Slyt h erin table, but he was not waiting, and he did not have a stone expression planted on his face.
He was sitting with Miss Black. And Miss Dagworth-Granger. Before he could protest Lestrange was already walking towards Lucius and his company.
“Come on Dolohov” he said and with a smirk he sat beside Lucius. Now only one seat was clear. And it was opposite her. He straightened his back and gracefully sat down. He cleared his throat.
“Miss Black, Miss Dagworth-Granger" he said and nodded to each of the ladies .
“Please Mr Dolohov, call me Narcissa. We have after all been in this school together for five years now” Miss Black, Narcissa , said.
“Same goes for me Mr Dolohov. Call me Hermione” she said. Hermione .
“Very well Miss Narcissa, Miss Hermione” he answered , hoping his accent wasn’t too noticeable .
“No need to be so formal, Antonin . You should be thrilled with your new privilege, shouldn’t he Hermione ?” Rabastan said rather smugly.
“I agree Mr Lestrange, though I don’t remember giving you the same privilege to call me by my first name” Hermione said with a little smirk playing in the corner of her lips while she poked some mashed potatoes with her silver fork. Rabastan just led out a big laugh, obviously not taking her insult to heart.
Dinner was a fast affair and the only person not talking was him. He mostly stared down at his plate with food and listened to the others. When it was finally time to go back to their dorms, he took a glance at Hermione. She was already looking at him and when their eyes met, she gave him a smal l smile. The same she had given him all those years ago. He only nodded , not even smiling just the slightest in response.
Great, now she thought he was nothing more than some quiet rude bastard. He probably was.
