Work Text:
While sitting in the bed, her hands on her knees, Dani felt utterly empty; she would kill for feeling something, anything that belongs to her, not the lady in the lake. So she took a deep breath and held Jamie's hand to find a feeling that belongs to her.
"Why wouldn't we have this kind of happiness in our life."
"It is not fair to us, you, and I," Jamie's voice cracked, "We deserve a chance."
Chance What a fitting word for her, Thought Jamie while completing her sentence because, in the end, she did not have anything worth taking a "chance" until now.
"Jamie...I am afraid of how our relationship will turn out; what I will convert in the future. I love you so much that I cannot take this chance. I don't know how we would be together, be us." Dani was crying now hysterically. "I never knew happiness, and I never will, Jamie, don't you understand. I don't belong to myself anymore, and I belong to her...In this way, how could we have a relationship."
Jamie, with the most hopeful tone in her voice, said; "We can work this through together; I mean, how do people who are together doin it...How did Romeo and Juliet do? They had to stand Montagues and Capulets...The hate of people around them did not stop them from loving each other on the contrary, their love was imminent because of the hardships they had to go through."
Dani was confused now, and her cheeks were teary. She sniffed and said, "That...I did not know you read...Romantic genre" "Jamie kneeled before Dani and settled her head in the bends of her crying beloved, clutched their hands; she looked up to her and said "Well, Poppins, I got a soft heart, ya know. And baby, what we have is the most beautiful love story; I feel it in my soul."
"Dani, give us a chance, please." Jamie felt shivers down her spine; she was afraid that Dani would not agree to be together. She closed her eyes. Only to feel Dani's hands in both of her cheeks, leaning down and giving her a little kiss. Breaking the kiss, Dani closed her eyes and said, "If I hurt you at any point, in any way I walk away, deal?"
"Ya could never hurt me, Poppins," said Jamie with a crooked smile on her face.
