Chapter Text
Marinette POV
Through my hard work, I had managed to be accepted to the Collège Françoise Dupont. Yes, the school is known for the rich kids. I've got an art scholarship for the upcoming school year. So now my new life begins. Super motivated and making sure I didn't stumble (like I always do), I went to the classroom and picked out a seat. Then I heard a wicked laugh behind me. "Look, Sabrina, the new one wants to get in trouble right away." I turned to the voice. "What do you mean by that?" A loud bang sounded. I was startled and turned around again. In front of me stood a boy in a black suit and blond ruffled hair, who stared at me grimly. "That's my seat!" I exaggeratedly searched the bench. "Funny, I don't see a name on this at all." My counterpart was bubbling with rage. "Okay, okay. If it's so important to you, I'll just sit somewhere else." There was one seat left next to a brown-haired girl with glasses. "Is this seat taken?" She looked at me in admiration. "Wow, you messed with Adrien Agreste from the Top 4? Sure, you can sit next to me."
"Top 4? What's that?" "The four most popular guys in school. You've already met Adrien. He's the son of top fashion designer Gabriel Agreste and a model on top of that." "Ah, that's where he looks familiar. Gabriel is one of my favorite designers." "That's Nino Lahiffe next to him. Despite his young age, he's one of the best DJs in town. The one with the turquoise hair is Luka Couffaine. He is the most talented musician the school has ever had. And last but not least, Lê Chiến Kim. He's a professional swimmer and has been training for the Olympics all his life." "Aha, you seem to know a lot about the group of four. I'm Marinette, by the way. Nice to meet you." I held out my hand. She grabbed it and replied, "My name is Alya. I run the school newspaper, and you catch a lot of stuff there."
After the bell rang for lunch, I went to the cafeteria with my new friend. I got the menu of the day, and we started looking for a free table. We joined Rose, Juleka and Lila from our class. Lila was talking about her last vacation in Italy with Prince Ali. The conversations stopped, and everyone looked to the door as the top 4 walked in, surrounded by their groupies. A boy from our class, I think his name was Nathaniel, ran towards the entrance and collided with Adrien. Nathaniel's drawing pad flew to the floor, and several sheets of paper whirled through the air. S-sorry," the artist stammered, but on Adrien's face, you could read the anger. "Just watch it!" Without giving Nathaniel another look, Adrien and his dirty shoes trampled over the drawings. As an artist at heart, I couldn't stand by and watch this. I leaped up from my seat and shouted, "Excuse me, what's your problem? Do you know how long it takes to create something like this? He did apologize!" "If apologies were enough, then why do we have the police?" I couldn't look at that cheeky grin any longer. I took my dessert, a vanilla pudding, and threw it in Adrien's face. What a grin it was. "Alya, I will head towards the classroom. My hunger is gone." I stomped out of the cafeteria.
Then I could hear Music from a distance. This had a calming effect on me. I followed the sounds and stood in front of the music room. Slowly I opened the door and saw Luka playing the guitar. That's right; he hadn't been present at the pudding incident. He noticed me and stopped playing. "Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to disturb you," I remarked. The boy said in a calm voice, "Music is there to be heard. And this melody seems to be just what you need right now."
Adrien's POV
I wiped the pudding off my face. "Who's that crazy lady?!?" "That's Marinette. Marinette Dupain-Cheng. She has just transferred to the school. Before, she went to a normal public school for normal people," Kim enlightens me. "Dude, she sure kicked your ass!" smirked Nino. Marinette it is. She's going to have to apologize for making a fool of me in front of everyone. "Friends, I guess it's time to show her the red card." She'll regret messing with me. And I'll make sure of that.
Marinette POV
After class, we went to the lockers. "Hey Alya, do you want to come by my house later? My dad's been trying out new recipes, and he wants me to test the treats before they're sold at the bakery." "Sure!" "Great. So, then you'll come by..." Before I could continue speaking, I noticed something sticking to my locker. A red card with a four on it? "What's that for? Is that from the top four guys?" "Oh my. You got the red card and incurred the displeasure of the most popular guys in school. That doesn't mean anything good. But don't worry. I've got your back, girl!" I threw the card on the floor. "Pffff. I don't care about them at all. I'm going home now." At the entrance gate, we encountered the oh-so-awesome Top 4. I did my best to ignore them, but Adrien stood in my way. "Haven't you got something to say to me?" "I can't think of what." "You ruined my suit. Do you know how much it cost?" "No, and I don't care." Pushing past him, I walked home.
I imagined my first day of school differently. Little did I know that bullying would be such a big problem. But you didn't do the math with Marinette Dupain-Cheng on that one. I won't let it bring me down! "Hey sweetie, so how's school?" my mom asked as I walked into the kitchen of the bakery to get ready for the taste test with Alya. "Well. There's a group of boys terrorizing the whole school. Adrien is the worst. But one of them seems different... And I made a new friend. She can try the new pastries, too, can't she?" "But of course! Your father will be happy to hear another opinion. Oh, Marinette, I'm so proud of you for making it to this college!" "Oh, Maman, don't get all sentimental now!" Alya arrived five minutes later, and my father served us the most delicious things. We chatted happily because we had no idea what lay in store for us the next few days.
