Chapter Text
Have you ever sought something so special that you would leave everything behind in a blink of an eye? But in that blink of an eye time changes so fast. You start to regret everything you have done and accomplished. You lose hope and are now swimming in the bottom of the dark sea. No matter how far you swim up, you always go right back down to where you started, possibly going further down. You can't see anything, hear anything, or smell anything. You are completely cut off from the world. You are lost...
That is reality...
It was a Sunday afternoon as people could hear a constant pit-a-pat on the concrete floor. A group of people with sunken faces and downcast eyes stare at a mere small box slowly being lowered into a 10-foot pit. There; standing in the front of the group, was a little girl holding a petite teddy bear. She stared sullenly at the brown casket. So bland and so direct.
She stayed ever so still, not bothering in wiping her teary eyes. The girl kept her gaze upon the casket drowning out the speech of the funeral conductor. She held her teddy close and tight gripped thinking if she softened her grip on it, it would go away too. Once the casket was fully lowered, the girl raised her eyes at the gravestone. So bland and so direct.
People surrounded her, mourning for the unexpected loss. A hand was softly placed on the little girl's head. She didn't flinch or even look up. She already knew it was her father. She felt a few droplets of water fall upon her head. She couldn't tell if it was her father's tears or some rain has fallen onto her head breaking through the barrier of her father's umbrella.
Before the father and the little girl knew it, it was that time where people began to say their farewells. Whenever family members or friends are about to leave, they always stop and exchange a few words with the father.
They'd say ", I'm sorry for your loss, she was a great woman, call me whenever you need something, or who could imagine how the child must be feeling."
It was the same thing over and over again like it was scripted. The girl didn't care, it was just words, it wouldn't bring her back. She was gone and there is nothing she could have done to stop it. The little girl and the father were the last to leave. They said their goodbye's as her father softly guided her to the car fearing that if he was ever so slightly rough with her she would break.
The whole way home, the pair did not speak. The father just gently and soothingly caressed the little girl's hand. They stared ahead listening to the pit-a-pat on the roof caused by the rain.
A week has passed by and the dark sky was lit up by lightning. The little girl wandered through the forest looking left and right. She sobbed and wailed hoping her father would hear and embrace her with his warm grip. She didn't know what to do.
She found a big tree with a small hole. A good size for her to hide in and hope for her father to come to her rescue. She crawled through the whole getting her new dress all muddy and dirty. She hugged her knees close to her chest screaming out for her mother and father. A sound like a shot rang through the air as the girl screamed when she saw a big tree come tumbling down a few kilometers away from her. She covered her ears trying so desperately to drown out the sound of the thunder. She was completely soaked, cold, hungry, dirty, and scared.
Before she knew it, she passed out due to exhaustion.
The sun rose as a small amount of light from the sun shined upon her face. A few feet away, the sound of footsteps was approaching closer and closer to where the little girl was located. The little girl was slowly and gently pulled out by the wanderer.
They carefully carried her in their arms steadily walking back to where they came from. In between the walk, the child grudgingly woke up looking up at her savior. She didn't freak out, she was just relaxed in their arms. They had this soothing warmth that she didn't want to escape from. The savior looked down at her and gave her a warm smile. The duo slowly approached the outskirts of the forest and up ahead saw familiar blue and red lights. She heard somebody running towards her yelling her name, it was her father.
The girl looked up at the person who carried her all this way and silently whispered three words with a small smile shining on her face.
"You found me."
Then everything went black.
