No one expected Hangang Club would become a big hit – not even Byungchan, who’s the most optimistic one in their group. It’s not that they didn’t hope for their show to be popular. Who wouldn’t want that? It’s just that it all began as a joke, a project they conceptualized while half-drunk on soju, several pounds of spectacular takeaway chicken wings, and Sejun’s signature pork belly. The joke, even during that first night, was already funny.
Apparently, millions of people share their sense of humor.
Seungsik is in charge of narrating their humble – Subin calls it humiliating – beginnings. When he tells the story, to old friends and coworkers, to known personalities on press interviews and variety shows, he always mentions that it started because of Seungwoo. For those who’ve known them for a while, this wasn’t anything new. But he does it mostly for their oldest friend: a constant reminder of how much they appreciate him for always bringing them together.
The first time Seungsik told this story, his audience was composed of tired coworkers sharing office gossip during a break. The end of the month was around the corner and nobody wanted to be the first to go back to the mountain of paperwork accumulating on their desk.
“What did you guys do yesterday? I took a long nap and watched a drama on my huge TV. I had no idea what was going on but it was fun to just sit still and do nothing,” his friend mentioned to the group.
Seungsik caught the word TV and offered, “Oh, I starred in a show.”
“What?” Everyone turned to look at him. A few other coworkers stopped their own conversations, curiosity evident on their faces.
“No, no, it wasn’t an actual show. My friend just started a show and featured all of us.”
“You didn’t tell us you were an actor,” someone asked speculatively. Seungsik fidgeted, uncomfortable with the scrutiny. He knew that he wasn’t attractive enough to be an actor.
“No, no, it isn’t anything big. It’s just on YouTube,” Seungik exclaimed, waving his arms in front of his face in an attempt to bat away the topic he accidentally started.
His boss smirked. “You know, a lot of YouTube shows become big.”
“Yeah it’s like being on TV,” someone else agreed. Seungsik felt his cheeks heating, a sign that he would soon be sporting an embarassing blush on his face.
So with everybody’s eyes on him, Seungsik began to explain.
Hangang Club confirms season 2 with full cast returning
The HanGANG is back!
Viral hit Hangang Club recently confirmed that it will release its full second season on November 9, 2021. In a statement posted by director and writer Do Hanse on his Instagram, it was revealed that the full cast will be returning.
Hangang Club premiered last June 2020 as a digital show on Youtube. Released in 15-minute segments, the 8-episode season followed the lives of the self-dubbed HanGANG: producer Han Seungwoo, office worker Kang Seungsik, choreographer Heo Chan, fitness instructor Lim Sejun, university student Do Hanse, model Choi Byungchan, and pro-gamer/Youtuber Jung Subin. The show gained popularity due to its comedic re-imaginings of its cast’s real lives.
“There’s going to be more laughs, memes, and fun times this season. Plus more chicken and beer. And yes, a spicy development between two members of the HanGANG 🤪,” said Do Hanse on his Instagram post.

Seungsik, given enough time to prepare what to say, tells stories comprehensively and chronologically. It’s why he was assigned to talk about the show’s origins.
A lot of their group’s traditions began because of Seungwoo: annual marathons, karaoke sessions at his studio, and – most importantly (at least for the show) – late-night picnics near the Han River.
The first night happened several days before Sejun’s birthday. Seungsik was in line at the sports store near his office, juggling his work satchel, two pairs of gym pants, and his buzzing phone.
“Hello?” Seungsik placed his phone near his right ear. Of all days to forget his wireless earphones! Now he had no choice but to hold everything but his phone with his left hand.
“Seungsik!” Seungwoo exclaimed. “Are you free to talk?”
“Uh, sure. I’m just in line at a store, buying Sejun new pants.”
“Ah,” Seungwoo chuckled. “Of course. Wouldn’t want Sejun to annoy you for not getting him a birthday gift huh.”
Seungsik nodded, forgetting his older friend could not see him. Seungwoo then proceeded to get to the point.
Their group’s last get-together was a month ago, during Seungsik’s own celebration, a joint dinner for both his and Subin’s birthdays. Apparently Sejun had called Seungwoo a few hours ago, whining about wanting his own party.
“But he wants it to be special,” Seungwoo said as he emphasized the last word.
“Special? How?”
“He said, get this, ‘Not another samgyupsal restaurant, hyung.’”
Seungsik laughed and imagined Sejun’s dramatic tone. As the line to the cashier moved, Seungwoo regaled him with tales of Sejun’s whining.
In his own cute tone, he mentioned that “Sejun wants everyone there. Everyone! How am I supposed to make everyone come on the actual day of his birth on short notice?”
“So why is he making you organize his birthday again?” Seungsik asked.
“Because he said everyone listens to me! And then he called me old, can you believe that kid?” Seungsik stifled a laugh, knowing how much the older man hated being reminded of the fact that he was the oldest in the group. He then let Seungwoo’s rant fill his otherwise boring wait as he surveyed the rest of the room for anything else he could get the birthday boy.
What Seungsik doesn’t share whenever he tells this story is what happened next. By the section for gym pants, where he also picked up his gifts a while ago, stood a slight figure partially hidden by a low table displaying new goods. He was wearing a cap, hoodie, and what appeared to be designer sweatpants.
Even with the long line of his back the only thing Seungsik could see from his place in front of the counter, he was sure. It was Subin.
Dressed head to toe in black and his head lowered, he could have passed for any teenager looking for new clothes. But after years of friendship, Seungsik could read his minute tells. While Subin is ambidextrous, Seungsik knew that he preferred the black pants with white lining because he was holding it with his left hand. He was still, likely internally debating whether to get the pair he was holding. He was always careful with his choices.
He could have observed more of Subin’s behavior but the cashier waved him over and collected the clothes in his hand.
“Seungwoo, I have to go. I’m in front of the line now.” He said, cutting off whatever his friend would have said next.
“See you tonight at the park okay? I’ll text you where exactly.”
“The park?” Seungsik asked as he took out his card to pay for Sejun’s gift.
“I told you, we’re having a picnic near the Han River. If that’s not special enough for Sejun…”
As he signaled for the shop attendant to wrap the pants without the receipt, Seungsik hummed his assent. Seungwoo got off the phone with a hurried goodbye. He still had to call the rest.
With his gift paid for and wrapped, Seungsik debated walking halfway across the store to talk to Subin. But he was already running late for his afternoon meeting. He took out his phone and left the younger man a message instead.

While Seungwoo instituted Hangang nights, the truth is Hangang Club was born because of Hanse and his never-ending love for taking videos. Well, that and joking around.
They were in the middle of Sejun’s special birthday party. Seungsik was full after several slices of potato pizza and approximately 6 pieces of chicken wings. He clutched the cold beer in his hand and leaned back. The weather was cool and there weren’t a lot of people around. It was peaceful and a great way to unwind from work. Trust Seungwoo to know exactly what he needed.
“The Han River looks so calm tonight,” Subin said quietly as he stared at the river. They were sitting side-by-side, a meter away from the rest of their friends.
Seungsik hummed and took a sip from the can. Subin offered the cup of instant ramen, along with chopsticks. It’s times like this that he’s glad for Subin’s presence in his life.
Ever since he joined their group, quiet, steadfast Subin has always been Seungsik’s rock. The only one who didn’t tease him whenever he was in a pensive state or out of sorts and the first person to come to his defense. Subin was younger in age but the oldest when it came to maturity. It was always peaceful when he was nearby.
He should’ve known that the peace wouldn’t last.
Hanse gestured them over with a shout. “Hey, love birds! Come join us!” For some reason, Subin glared at him. Maybe it was because it broke the peace surrounding them but Seungsik swore that he could feel the heat of his glare. Or maybe it was just because Subin always glared at him whenever he tossed that joke their way.
Hanse smiled back, his dimple joining the cheeky grin. In his slightly inebriated state, Seungsik let the comment pass. Hanse always made that joke anyway.
While Hanse dragged Subin beside him, Seungsik sat down in between Seungwoo and Sejun, the ones who could hold their liquor better than anyone else. Maybe this way he could fade into the background and quietly bask in the presence of his closest friends without being subjected to the relentless teasing that followed him whenever he was with them.
Seungwoo smiled and bumped their shoulders together. “Hanse’s in a mood.”
As soon as everyone was within arm’s length, Hanse stood up. “Gentlemen, I have gathered you all today –“
“I think I gathered everyone actually,” Seungwoo interjected.
“– to toast to –“
“Me! It’s my day!” Sejun exclaimed.
“– a new project that everyone will love!” Hanse finished, ignoring the interjections that littered his pronouncement. All of them were used to talking over each other. If you couldn’t fight for your right to talk, you wouldn’t be heard.
Seungsik breathed in the fresh air, content to close his eyes as he leaned against Seungwoo’s side. He tuned out what seemed to be a normal Hanse speech. Soon he’ll be talking about some kind of activity he wanted to rope them into. A few drinks turned Hanse either into an adventurous thrill-seeker or a weepy, emotional version of himself.
“That’s new,” Seungwoo murmured.
“Huh?” He asked absentmindedly.
“Byungchan’s supporting his crazy scheme,” Seungwoo replied.
Seungsik sat up and tried to blink the sleepiness away from his eyes. He stared at the younger men across from him. Hanse was obviously tipsy. He was clutching his iPhone on one hand, showing a video to an enthusiastic Byungchan and a reluctant Chan. Sejun had moved from his position next to Seungsik to peer at the video. The only one not paying attention to Hanse was Subin who was sitting right beside him and could have grabbed the phone for himself.
Instead, Subin ignored the commotion and glared in his direction. Seungsik raised an eyebrow, finding himself curious as to what was making the younger man angry. Subin flushed and continued to glare at a point near his shoulder. He followed Subin’s eyesight and found nothing but his and Seungwoo’s shoulders pressed together. There didn’t seem to be anything wrong.
A loud exclamation of outrage and the words “Where am I?” distracted him from the mystery of Subin’s glare.
Sejun was peering at Hanse’s phone with an exaggerated pout. “It’s my birthday and I’m not even in the video?!” He turned his round eyes on Hanse in a bid for sympathy.
But Hanse was never one for indulging him. “What can I do? You’re so boring. All you did was eat everything.” He rolled his eyes at the birthday boy.
It was then that all hell broke loose. Sejun stood up and tried to shake Hanse’s collar, demanding for more footage and screen time. Hanse cackled madly and stuck his tongue out. “Maybe if you were less boring! Im Sejun is a pig!”
“You know what!” Sejun grinned. “I’ll jump into the Han and you have to take a video of that.”
Hanse grinned back and held a thumb up. “Call! That’s not boring at all!”
It was difficult to blink the fog that was clouding his brain. Seungsik has never been good with handling his alcohol. He observed mutely as Sejun began stripping and Chan took out a towel and a change of clothes from his duffel. Byungchan was shouting, Hanse was cackling and pointing his phone at Sejun’s determined figure. It wasn’t until Sejun started walking away from the mat and towards the river that Seungsik knew he was going to have to stop his younger friends from at best, getting a cold, to at worst, getting fined for public indecency or being a public nuisance.
He shook off the shoulder that was digging into his and tried to get Seungwoo up. But the older man just smiled beatifically up at him. Useless, the man was useless. Seungsik was lucky he wasn’t going along with this newest harebrained scheme.
He moved away and turned to the only other person left on the picnic mat. “Subin, were you paying attention? What’s going on?”
He noted that Subin was smiling at him now. “Hanse took a bunch of videos tonight. The food, when we gave Sejun the gifts, stuff like that. He’s planning on creating some kind of video edit.”
“Well, what’s Sejun’s problem?”
“He isn’t in any of the videos.”
“So?” Seungsik asked. “He’s going to strip at a park for content?”
Subin giggled and looked at him with stars in his eyes. “No, he’s planning on diving into the Han for content.”
“WHAT! Nobody jumps into the river!” Seungsik’s eyes, previously cloudy with alcohol, widened. He grabbed Subin’s hand and pulled him towards the others. “We have to stop him, what was he thinking!”
He must’ve imagined it but he could’ve sworn he heard a smile in Subin’s voice as he uttered a quiet “Okay.”

Unlike what Subin explained, Hanse did not create some kind of video edit. He made a digital show.
Hangang Club followed the crazy adventures – read: shenanigans egged on by Hanse who edits all the videos. During those days it seemed like the group’s impulse control was left with Seungsik – producer Han Seungwoo, office worker Kang Seungsik, choreographer Heo Chan, fitness instructor Lim Sejun, university student Do Hanse, model Choi Byungchan, and pro-gamer/Youtuber Jung Subin. In truth, Seungwoo only had one song under his name and spent more time fetching coffee for the production house he worked for, Chan was more often that not in the gym with Sejun than he was choreographing, and Sejun, Hanse, Byungchan, and Subin were university students with hobbies outside of class. The only fact not imagined was that Seungsik was indeed an office worker.
When he asked Hanse why everyone had to have a reimagined career, the younger man just tutted and said, in a patronizing way, “We need to be cooler. Who watches a show about random people?”
Four episodes in and most of their usual get-togethers were spent berating Hanse for his editing choices, coming up with new episode ideas, and laughing at the viewers' reactions to their antics.
Sitting across from Subin in his usual seat in their favorite samgyupsal restaurant, Seungsik watched him grill the pork meat to perfection. He and Seungwoo both had eyes on Subin's nimble fingers, which were flipping meat slices, adding garlic to the grill, and cutting well-cooked pieces. On the next table, Sejun was grilling meat for the others. It was a well-rehearsed dance. And it seemed like the show was coming along as a welcome new addition to their routines.
As he ate his food quietly, Seungsik considered the show. In all honesty, he knew that Hangang Club was a good show. When Hanse posted the first episode a month after Sejun's birthday, only their family, friends, and classmates watched the show. But then it was mentioned in the university newspaper and more students began watching it, cutting out scenes and posting them on social media, and telling their own friends about it.
And it was very funny. Hanse knew how to bring out the crazy in each of them and how to prod them into doing crazy stuff they wouldn't otherwise consider. Seungsik's favorite episode was the one they spent at the gym, where all of them – minus Hanse of course – took turns trying out Sejun's Sparta training. He ranked them all by descending order and made Seungsik and Subin carry weights they wouldn't normally even touch. There was even a scene of Seungsik cradling a dumbbell, sweat dripping from his forehead, and trying not to cry. Hanse edited it with the soundtrack of the Titanic. It was all very dramatic and very funny: at that moment, he remembered thinking his heart could not go on and would probably give out from pure exhaustion.
Popping a slice of pork neck into his mouth, Hanse raised his voice and addressed the two adjacent tables. “Alright, gang, we need to plan for the next episodes,” Hanse began. “We’ve already done our usuals: karaoke episode, gym episode, we had that episode in Seungwoo’s studio. And of course our first episode: Sejun and the Han River!”
Sejun stood from his seat in between Byungchan and Chan and took a sweeping bow. “You’re welcome!”
“Surprisingly that’s been a real hit,” Byungchan smiled at him. He poured Sejun a drink and the two dimpled men flashed their grins and toasted each other.
"Yes, yes, well done hyung. I knew your crazy was good for something," Hanse smirked. “Now we need an episode where I can really drive up the Seungsik-Subin staring. How about an episode focused on them?”
Subin glared at him, reached over Chan, and yanked Hanse's ear. Adopting an expression of fake outrage, Hanse rubbed his ear as Subin quietly berated him. And then they were arguing in whispers – which Seungsik admired because he could barely even hear himself think over the chaos of the restaurant – but the wink Hanse threw his way only made Subin grumble and sink into his seat. Hmmm, strange, Seungsik thought.
"Well I think that's a great idea and we all know how my ideas work for this show," Sejun nodded at Hanse. "Hanse's right, let's give all the fangirls what they want."
"What they want is something that's not. real." Subin said while glaring at the impish grins on Sejun and Hanse's faces. Strange again, Seungsik thought. Isn't he used to the teasing?
"You okay?" Seungsik asked, raising his eyebrow at the younger man. Subin just shrugged and took a piece of meat.
"So, Subin," Seungwoo said while Hanse and Sejun at the other table turned to other episode ideas. "What do you think of Hangang Club?"
"I do like it, hyung, I think it's funny," Subin replied with a grimace. "I just wish they didn't joke around about that."
Seungsik was startled at the venom in his words. "Don't worry about it Subin, Hanse's just teasing me." He placed a few slices of meat on his plate as a placating gesture.
"You know how he is with teasing me. He's probably just editing the footage," Seungsik smiled at Subin and tried to coax a smile from the downturned lips. "You were probably just staring off into nothing."
Seungwoo huffed out a laugh and coughed on the soda he was drinking. "Wait, so you think Hanse was just making up the staring counter?"
"Yeah, of course," Seungsik nodded and said. "I know Subin isn't staring at me and I look at all of you when we're together. We're just a punchline because he loves making fun of me."
He turned to their youngest with another smile. "Sorry to drag you into this Subin. You know how Hanse is."
"No problem," Subin mumbled. He picked up more meat and crammed it into his mouth. He might choke, Seungsik thought, and watched Subin's mouth just in case. He ignored Seungwoo giggling beside him.

8 months after Hanse posted the first episode online and almost everyone Seungsik knows has seen at least one episode of Hangang Club. His older coworkers nod to him in the hallways of the office when he walks past them. His Instagram followers are in the higher thousands. He now needs to wear a cap whenever he goes out so he can hide his face better. The increased popularity doesn’t really bother Seungsik a lot. He’s not as popular as Byungchan, who has his new modelling commitments and a recently-established dedicated fanclub, or Chan, with his gym selfies and online fangirls. At least he can hide in his office all day.
That was all before Hanse knocked on his door at nine in the evening a week before Valentine’s Day. 8 months after Hanse posted the first episode online is when he first feels like the show is a mistake.
"Seungsik," Hanse greets as soon as he opens the door to his studio. He waves his guest in and makes his way to the kitchen to prepare a drink. When he gets back to the living room, Hanse has made himself comfortable on the lumpy sofa.
"What are you doing here? We're not due to meet until next week," Seungsik asks.
Hanse places a hand on his chest and pouts. "I can't visit my favorite friend?"
"Spit it out," Seungsik urges. "I know you're up to something."
"You know me so well!" Hanse grins. He sits up properly and takes out his laptop. "I have a proposal for you."
Seungsik, despite the more sensible parts of himself urging him to run for cover, is intrigued. Another change caused by Hangang Club is the maturity and strategic mindset Hanse now regularly employs. Once they finished shooting and editing the first season of the show, he started booking them for press tours and promotional shows. As the writer, director, and editor of the show, he attended most of these promotional gigs. He usually pulled in the more popular characters: Seungwoo, who now provides the music for the show, Byungchan, Sejun, and Chan with their fans, and sometimes Subin who has his own YouTube following. Seungsik is content with droppping by for radio schedules and weekend show. After all, he does have a day job.
So when Hanse turns the screen to face him, he's thinking that Hanse might just be presenting the new shows he's going to have to make an appearance at.
He's not expecting the words Seungsik and Subin get together and Hanse's wide grin. "What do you think?" His impish friend asks.
What do I think? I think you've gone insane! Seungsik thinks. Hanse nods and smiles, pressing the arrow for the next slide in his presentation.
"I know what you're thinking. You think I'm insane for this," Hanse says. Before Seungsik can even react, he continues. "No I'm not reading your mind. We've been doing this for 8 months and I know how you'd react to this."
The words What we've all been waiting for is flashed on the screen. "But we've all been waiting for this. The fans have been waiting for 8 months, some of us have been waiting for years," Hanse continues and rolls his eyes as he says some of us. Who are these 'some,' Seungsik wants to know. And why have they been waiting for years?
The screen blurs and a new phrase pops up. Subin finally agreed.
"He did?" Seungsik blurts out, shocked. "Why?"
"'Cause I told him this might finally make you see." Hanse says with another impish smile.
And at this point, Seungsik is very confused. He feels like he and Hanse are talking to each other without actually understanding what they're talking about.
"See what?" He asks.
Hanse just continues smiling. "The truth."
He closes his eyes and runs a hand through his hair. Talking to Hanse always makes him feel so exhausted. The man is a genius, true, but he's also so cheeky. He always leaves Seungsik feeling like he's the only one who's not in on the joke.
Hanse clears his throat and says seriously. "Look. We have the Valentine's Day episode coming up next week. Due to popular demand, the episode will feature popular romantic clichés, you know, going on dates at cafés, taking photos together, that sort of thing."
"But Subin and I aren't a couple," Seungsik protests.
"So? Half of the things we do in the show aren't real. Sejun's not a fitness instructor, he's just some guy obsessed with going to the gym."
And that's something he can't refute. Seungsik knows that a lot of the things that make it on the show are manufactured and edited to be more humorous than they actually are. They all agreed on this creative treatment because it's what they're good at. At their core, they're just a group of friends hanging out and trying to make each other laugh.
"You know how serious I am about this, hyung," Hanse says with a distinctly mature tone. "I'm using the show as my thesis. It has to do well."
He sighs. He knows. It's why they're shooting all the episodes in a span of a few months and Hanse will focus on editing and posting everything after. He wants to make sure he has enough time to get everything right. "I know, Hanse. But isn't this weird? Me? Subin? Just because some people said we were looking at each other a lot?"
But Hanse just stares at him with that serious look still etched on his face and hands him a sheaf of paper. "Read the script outline for the episode. Then talk to Subin." And just as Seungsik is starting to feel uncomfortable with this new version of Hanse, he smiles.

Here’s the thing about Seungsik. He’s HanGANG’s best speaker. He can tell any story, control the flow of conversation, encourage his introverted friends to speak up. But given the choice between thinking and feeling, he will always choose to think. His friends call him HanGANG’s brain and it’s something he’s proud of.
The problem, however, is the fact that he's not really in touch with his feelings. He’s absolutely not someone who understands his emotions, nevermind say what he feels. And what he feels right now is too complicated to put into words. For all intents and purposes, he’s sitting on his couch, jiggling his right foot and flipping through the different channels on his TV. But Seungsik is also waiting for Subin to arrive.
He throws the remote down on the cushion and picks up his phone. His chatbox with Subin is still open.

Hey Subin, want to go over the script outline for the new episode?
Okay, hyung.
Should I come over tomorrow?
Yeah, what time will your classes end?
Around 5, but I have something after.
We could have dinner at 7? 7:30?
Okay great! I'll order the pizza 😁
After a few half-hearted scrolls on Instagram, Seungsik hears the doorbell ring. He quickly pats his hair down, checks his clothes for wrinkles, and finds himself wondering why he's doing so. It's just Subin.
So he hurries to the door and opens it to find Subin fidgeting with the cuffs of his sleeves. "Hey, Subin."
Subin's lips produce a tiny smile and he takes out six pack beer from the backpack slung over his shoulder. "Sorry if I'm late hyung. I brought beer!"
He ushers Subin in and waves away his apologies. "It's not even 7:30 yet, you're not late." He steers his guest to the couch as he grabs the pack of beer. "Stay there, I'll bring the pizza."
He quickly swipes the box from where he left it on the counter.
"Want to watch some Netflix while we eat?"
Subin nods, taking out a slice of pizza and cracking open his can of beer. "Look at us, drinking Cass."
Seungsik laughs as he opens his own can. "We should share a can. Can we even finish one each?"
"I think we might need some alcohol later."
Seungsik feels the smile slide off his face. He doesn't disagree. How can they talk about what Hanse has planned for the first episode of Hangang Club without a drop of alcohol in their system? So he just hums and focuses on nibbling his favorite potato pizza. For the first time in his life, the pizza tastes like lead in his stomach.
Once the episode is finished and the pizza box is half-empty – more than anything this shows how weird this night is. With their appetites usually they would be fighting over the last slice – an awkward silence fills the room. As the owner of the apartment and the older person, Seungsik feels like it's his responsibility to start the conversation that's the whole point of their meet-up. But Seungsik doesn't know how.
From the corner of his eye, Seungsik sees Subin take a fortifying drink of beer and mutter quietly to himself. He then turns his body to face Seungsik.
"Seungsik," Subin starts. "Did Hanse tell you about the plan for the first episode?"
He nods and copies Subin's pose. He places his hands on his lap and fidgets with the fabric of his pants. "Are you sure about this Subin?"
"What do you mean?"
"I don't want you to feel burdened. We can tell Hanse no." Seungsik explains, placing his hand on top of Subin's. He hopes that he sees it as a comforting gesture i nstead of a creepy action.
With the hand he's not holding, Subin raises his can and takes a huge gulp. He slams the can down on the table beside the pizza box and bites out, "I already told him I was okay with it."
"But why?"
"You really don't know?" Subin asks, a plea evident in his voice. When Seungsik shakes his head, Subin sighs and steels himself. He interlaces their hands together and looks Seungsik in the eye.
Then he leans forward and kisses Seungsik.
Before he can react, Subin is already pulling back.
"Wha – was that in the outline? Do we have a kiss scene?" Seungsik asks as he wracks his brain for a mention of a kiss. "Did I miss it? I'll kill Hanse, why is he making us kiss on a comedy show?!"
"Hyung, I like you."
Seungsik stares at Subin. Shocked is an understatement.
Subin takes a deep breath. "I think I started liking you as soon as I met you. Do you remember? You helped me find my classroom and checked up on me for days after that. And the reason why Hanse added a Seungsik-Subin staring counter is because he knows I like you. Everyone knows."
"You... like... me?"
"I like you so much I get jealous when you don't pay attention to me. I agreed to this episode so I have an excuse to do this," Subin confesses. "And I would say that you don't have to tell me how you feel right away but I won't because I know how you feel."
He stares at Subin, who's still looking at him with a serious expression on his handsome face. "You do?"
"Don't you watch Hangang Club? Everybody knows you like me too. It's obvious, we can all see it."
Knowing your emotions? Understanding your feelings? Seungsik knows these things matter. The things that matter the most are hardest to say. And when given the choice between thinking or feeling, he now knows that there's another option. So he pulls Subin’s face towards his and places a tiny kiss on the corner of his mouth. Subin adjusts his position and turns to face him again.
The kiss is soft and a little bit clumsy. His arm feels like an extra limb, useless and ignored. So he places it around Subin’s neck, using it to tug at the soft hair near his nape. He cradles Subin’s jaw with other.
Subin’s body is warm and strong and he smells distinctly Subin-like that he can’t help but smile into the kiss.
“What are you smiling for?” Subin asks, the words mingling in the space between their shared breath.
“I think it’s the first time I’ve seen you smile, really smile, in the past few months.”
Subin huffs out a laugh and moves away a few inches to look him straight in the eye. “You try liking someone so oblivious everyone but him knows it.”
"I'm sorry, you know I'm no good with these things."
"I know. That's why Hanse kept telling me I needed to tell you."
"I might've realized it too!" Seungsik protests.
"Okay whatever you say." Subin laughs and holds his hand again.
In that moment, Seungsik promises to choose the third option everyday. To observe his own habits and see what they reveal about his feelings. To show how much he likes Subin with his actions. After all, it's his actions that helped everyone learn a truth he didn't even know about himself.
