Work Header

A Ghost and a needle, what could go wrong?

Summary:

“Ghost!” Hornet yelled after them as they started sprinting off. “Crap, not again!” Ghost had just stolen her needle again, but unlike last time, she was not able to stop them before they ran away. “Father’s gonna kill me,” she said as she started chasing after Little Ghost, who knew what trouble they could get themselves into with a weapon unsupervised.

Notes:

Hello! I just basically wanted family fluff time, so I wrote this! I don’t have too much set in stone for this AU, other than they all live together in a better version of the white palace as a nice happy family. The ages go - Hollow, Hornet, Ghost (I don’t have specific ages yet). Also the Pale King is a much better father then in canon :D

(The title is subject to change)

(This is also my first work and isn’t beta read, so if you have any criticism, please let me know!)

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

“Ghost!” Hornet yelled after them as they started sprinting off. “Crap, not again!” Ghost had just stolen her needle again, but unlike last time, she was not able to stop them before they ran away. “Father’s gonna kill me,” she said as she started chasing after Little Ghost, who knew what trouble they could get themselves into with a weapon unsupervised.

While running down the hallway she past Hollows room. She threw open the door. Normally she’d respect their privacy more and knock, but now was different. “Hollow!” They looked up startled, not used to such an entrance. “Help, Ghost ran off with my needle!” Hollow, knowing they’d be in trouble too if Father found Ghost first agreed to help.

The two of the ran out of the room. Luckily they were quick enough to see Ghost at the end of the hallway before they turned the corner. Sprinting after them, the two of them saw Ghost in the distance. They were quickly catching up, both being faster.

‘Finally,’ they both thought, after Ghost had ran into the dead end of the hallway. As they turned to face them, they didn’t even have the decency to look sheepish. In fact they looked very proud of themselves, even now, as they were cornered.

Hornet and Hollow walked closer slowly, Hollow on the right, Hornet on the left. As she looked at them, Hornet swore if Ghost had a mouth, right now they’d have a mischievous smirk on their face.

Suddenly, Ghost jumped to the left wall, where thorns lay on the wall. Hornet let out a noise of surprise, and while Hollow couldn’t talk, you could tell by their body language that they were just as surprised. Just as the two of them moved to stop them, Ghost, using Hornets needle, started making their way up the thorns using pogos.

Hollow and Hornet could only stare in shock and a bit of fear. Ghost easily made their way to the to of the thorns and onto a pillar that was just a few feet short from the ceiling. Despite their impressive stature, even hollow could’ve reach the little vessel atop the pillar.

The two eldests were even more worried about being caught now. Ghost having both Hornets needle and being atop one of the highest pillars in the castle? They shudder at the thought of what would happen if their parents found out. Now they were even more eager to get Ghost down.

Hornet and Hollow make eye contact, forming a silent plan to the get small nuisance down and out of trouble. Ghost watched them curiously from above, watching them communicate mutely in a way only close siblings could. Hearing the faintest sound of footsteps, Ghost looked up.

The two eldest siblings finally finishing their plan. Hornet would stand on Hollows shoulders to attempt to grab the smallest. Just as they’d were about to execute the plan, they hear footsteps much closer than they would have like.

“Children.”

Oh God

They’re screwed.

They look over and there, just as they thought, stood the pale king himself- their father.

“Mind explaining what’s going on?”
Hornet and Hollow look at each other and gulp. They look back and Hornet tries to start explaining.

“Well you see-, Ghost they, uhh, took my needle and ran off with it so I got Hollow and when we tried to corner them, they did a weird thing with the needle and thorns. And we were just about to get them down, we promise!”

The Wyrm just pinched where his nose would have been. Using his wings he was able to quickly grab the small child and hold them in the crook of his arm. Once he settled again he looked back at his eldests. He was disappointed, clearly, but lucky for them, it wasn’t as much as they thought it would be. The King let out a sigh, taking the needle from the small one and giving it back to Hornet.

“Hornet, don’t leave you needle lying around anymore. Make sure you put it away properly if you’re not using it. Or this little bugger might take it again.” He said as lifted up Ghost a bit near the end. “And you,” he said, now looking at Ghost. “You need to learn how to stay out trouble, Little One.” As he finished he booped the small vessel in between their eyes.

“Come now children, it’s time for dinner.”

So the family walked hand in hand to the diner table, with no hard feelings between them.
