Ryujin used to think that soccer was the most amazing thing that ever existed. Nothing could beat it. Nothing could change her mind.
As she grew older, she realized that there were other things in life that were amazing as well, but soccer was still something that she cherishes.
High school didn’t really faze Ryujin, her grades were good, she had great supportive friends, a loving family and was captain of the girls soccer team.
She entered her senior year with confidence. Soccer tryouts were today and she hoped to find some new people to add onto the team.
After a long day, it was finally time or the tryouts. Quite a few people showed up, “what do you think about this lot captain?” Her teammate and best friend Yeji asked.
“Can’t tell until I see them in action, there’s a whole lot though.”
“I think they look pretty promising. Their still chatting and looking excited even after a long day of school,” Yuna, Ryujins sister, jumped into their conversation.
“They’re going to have to have energy after school for every practice as well” Ryujin deadpanned.
Yuna shrugged, then ran off to greet her friends. Ryujin sighed “I guess we’ll begin the tryouts.”
Tryouts went smoothly, Ryujin could tell who the athletic ones were, and those who had clearly played before.
She shared her notes with her teammates and they discussed from time to time.
Although quite a few of the students displayed outstanding skills, only one girl captured Ryujin’s attention.
When they started tryouts, Ryujin immediately felt her eyes settle on one person.
She had this sort of aura around her, intriguing Ryujin. Her skills were remarkable as well, even Yeji commented that she could possibly have a chance against Ryujin.
The captain checked the list of names and came to a picture that looked like the girl. Lee Chaeryeong was neatly printed next to the picture, along with her age.
She’s a senior as well, I haven’t seen her around before. She must have transferred this year.
Ryujin may or may not have been subtly checking Chaeryeong out occasionally, her red hair, ripped biceps and thighs weren’t hard to spot.
Her shirt seemed to hug her figure in all the right places, it looked a little small on the girl. It didn’t help that during stretches, her shirt would lift slightly, revealing a toned stomach.
“Alright,let’s do some shooting. Our goalie, sadly, graduated last year, so anyone that would like to take the position can go over to the goal. Lisa will give you an explanation.”
A few girls walked over, Ryujin looked back at the rest of the girls. “You guys can line up here, and we’ll call you up to shoot.” A collection of nods, ‘yes ma’am’ and excited chatting erupted from the group as they moved towards the back of the line.
Yeji called the names, and one by one, the girls had a shot at the goal. Ryujin stood beside them, watching how they did and took notes.
Finally the person that Ryujin had long awaited for was up. The captain watching closely as Chaeryeong took a deep breath, then took a few steps back.
The girl then immediately started sprinting towards the ball with great speed. Then she skill fully kicked the ball with such force and speed, that the poor girl standing in front of the goal looked like she had peed herself.
The ball flew into the goal and hit the net with a whoosh. Chaeyeong smiled, pleased by her successful goal. Ryujin stood there shocked, this girl had some serious talent.
Eventually, tryouts were over. “Thanks for coming everyone, you all did great and good luck.” Yeji announced.
“Results will be out in a few days, look out for them. Just remember that not everyone will make it, but don’t give up or feel bad if you didn’t make it.There are plenty of other opportunities.” Ryujin smiled “Cya.”

After a few days, the results were out. Only 5 new people made the team. The announcement was made and printed out on a poster, Yeji stuck the results up on the notice board.
The board was quickly surrounded by multiple students that tried to make the team. Lots of groans from students could be heard, disappointed that they didn't make the team.
Squeals could also be heard as well as ‘yasss!’ and ‘I MADE IT BISHES’ being yelled. Ryujin went around congratulating and comforting people.
As she was congratulating a new member, she caught sight of a mob of red hair. Ryujin immediately turned to face the person and grinned when she saw that it was Chaeryeong.
“Good job on making the team Wendy, I’ll see you around and remember we have a meeting the day after tomorrow.” Ryujin quickly left and made her way towards the red head.
“Hey.” Ryujin nearly died, out of everything she could have said, her brain chose ‘hey’? Chaeryeong turned around, startled by Ryujin’s presence.
“Oh,um hello.” Ryujin smiled, this girl was just too cute. “Congrats, you did great at tryouts. I hope to see you at the meeting tomorrow, Chaeryeong right?”
Chaeryeong gave Ryujin a shy smile, “thanks, yeah, I’m Chaeryeong, you must be Ryujin?” The shorter girl nodded.
Ryujin didn’t really want to end their conversation so she took the opportunity to ask the girl more questions.
“Um, is this your first year at JYP high?”she asked. “Yep,just transferred this year.”
“Have you played soccer before?” “Yeah, me and my family are huge soccer fans and I’ve been playing since I was like 8, how long have you played for?”
Ryujin was surprised, Chaeryeong had played for quite some time. But it did explain why she was so good.
“I’ve played since I was around 5, I’ve always loved soccer.” A look of shock flashed across Chaeryeong’s face, “well, I guess that you’re captain for a reason” she chuckled, Ryujin smiled.
“I think you’re really good, I won’t be surprised if you turn out to be better than me.” Chaeryeong blushed, “t-thanks” Ryujin smiled.
“When’s your birthday?” “The 5th of June,” Chaeryeong replied.
Ryujin smirked, the red headed girl tilted her head in confusion. “I’m older than you by 2 months, my birthday’s on the 17th of April.” Chaeryeong smiled, “I guess you are.”
“Since we’re on the same team, do you mind giving me your number?” Ryujin asked, a crimson hue spread across the younger’s cheeks.
“Oh, um so we can talk about game tactics and stuff,” Ryujin quickly added. Chaeryeong nodded, taking out a note and pen. She quickly scribbled something and handed the note to Ryujin.
A small blush could be seen on her face as she hastily bid Ryujin goodbye, then she ran off. Ryujin chuckled, could that girl get any cuter?
She smiled at the fact that a cute girl had just gave their number to her. Sure, it was because she came up with a lame excuse to get it, but Chaeryeong had given her the number anyway.
She looked at the note in her hand. My number is xxx-xxxx-xxx text me whenever :) Ryujin grinned widely, even her handwriting was cute.
