Let me take care of you

Little Thor is sick, so his worried brother comes to watch over him and keep him company.

Work Text:

Loki gently knocked the door of Thor's chambers. As he opened it, he noticed his brother lying in his bed. Loki couldn't really see from where he was, but he guessed at all the blankets he was covered with and at his red face that he had a high fever.

Without fear and with a bit of curiosity, Loki closed the door and approached him. He first thought Thor was sleeping, so he tried to remind silent. He looked at the pile of blankets that hid his brother. They seemed so warm and comfy, he wanted to snuggle into them so much.

"Loki... what are you doing here...?"

He jumped a bit, not expecting it. Thor was looking at him, his cheeks red, his eyes puffy and his hair messy. It made Loki laughed a little. He had rarely seen his brother in such a state.

"Mother said I could come visit you, and that I risked nothing. I wanted to see if you were alright."

Thor coughed a little. He wasn't alright. His throat was dry, his head hurt and he was feeling so hot. But he still managed to make a pouty face nonetheless.

"That's true, why is it that I always fell sick and that you never even catch a cold? It's unfair!"

"I must be immune to that sort of thing. That makes me stronger than you," Loki laughed proudly.

"Stop mocking me! I am strong too, just not this time. But I swear I'll never fell sick again."

"How will you do?" Loki asked with curiosity while putting his arms on the edge of the bed to rest on it.

"I will slay the sickness before it catches me."

Loki raised an eyebrow. That was a strange thing to say. Maybe it was the fever that made his brother speak with such nonsense.

"But it is impossible. You can't slay something you don't see. You can slay barbaric creatures like the Jotuns, but not a sickness!"

"Then I'll train more and make my body stronger! And I'll fight easily both sickness and Jotuns!"

Loki looked at his brother with admiration. His eyes were sparkling.

"One day I want to be as strong as you! You're so lucky father allows you to go to the training grounds."

"Maybe one day he will allow you too," Thor assured with a smile, before being cut with a cough.

"Mother also want to teach me some of her magic. I want to learn to fight, but it would be great if you used your sword and I'd use magic!"

"And no one will ever resist us!" Thor added.

"Father will be proud of us," Loki said with a dreamy smile.

"Surely he will."

Thor coughed again, more violently this time, and Loki suddenly looked worried.

"Are you alright? Is this sickness serious?"

"You needn't worry, brother. It is but a cold," he assured as he snuggled up into the covers. "But I admit it is tough to bear."

"I want to help you heal," Loki affirmed while standing up.

"You cannot do anything. Mother already gave me a medicine. Which had a horrible taste, by the way. Now I just need to rest."

"Then I'll rest with you, and watch over you," Loki said firmly, and then he proceed to climb on the bed and join him. "It is so warm here!" he exclaimed as he covered himself with the blankets.

"The healers said the warmth was the best way to make the fever go away. Are you not too hot?"

"No, it is perfect. It is you who are so hot!" He exclaimed as he put a hand on his forehead.
Thor shivered at the touch. "And you, you are so cold!"

Loki chuckled. "I cannot control it. I don't know why, I never am really warm. Except when I'm with you. I feel comfortable, and you keep me warm," he added as he approached him and locked their eyes.

"Then I'll always keep you warm, and I'll never leave you. Particularly right now, I couldn't be warmer," Thor answered. He was touched, though his face showed more of an exhausted expression.

Loki smiled to his brother and put an arm around him. He didn't care about catching his sickness. He was immune to it anyway.

"I'll watch over you, I promise. Tell me if you need anything."

"That's very kind of you..." Thor answered with a sleeping voice.

Loki watched as his brother fell asleep peacefully. He hoped he will heal soon. But after all Thor was strong, so he wasn't worried.

He stayed by him, keeping his eyes on his sleeping face. He didn't seem to suffer now that he was in his dreams. He seemed happy. Loki was happy too. He hoped Thor and him will continue to care about each other, and be happy together. It wasn't that hard after all.
