Stiles looked down at the wolf pup sitting contentedly in the crook of his arm.
"Now what do we do with you?" he asked the pup who looked up at him.
"GIVE IT BACK!" Scott demanded. "You can't do that to me!"
Stiles tutted. "You wanted to be human. You demanded to be human." He shrugged. "So, now you're human again."
The pup gave a small 'yip' as if in agreement.
Scott stared.
"Come on, we'll take you home," Stiles offered. He looked at Derek. "If nothing else we should talk to Melissa."
"Keep my mom out of this!" Scott demanded. Stiles held back a laugh as Scott stamped a foot in frustration.
Derek stepped forward. "If nothing else, she needs to know that you'll need your asthma medicine again. I suspect you won't tell her."
"Give it back!" Scott repeated himself. He reached out to the wolf pup sitting in Stiles arm. The pup growled and bared its teeth. When Scott didn't back off, it snapped at Scott, who hastily backed away.
"Control that damn animal!" Scott said.
"He's perfectly under control," Stiles said. "Just stay away from him."
"He's mine!"
"I don't think so," Stiles said softly. "Not any more."
As Scott started to spring at Stiles, Derek stepped in and wrestled him to the floor.
"Let me up! That's my wolf! You can't do this to me!" Scott kept fighting to get up.
Derek looked up at Stiles helplessly. He had Scott pinned to the floor but Scott continued to struggle to get free.
"I don't want to hurt him..." Derek said apologetically.
Stiles wiggled his fingers and Scott went limp.
"Thanks!" Derek said, straightening. "How long will that last?"
"Until I undo it," Stiles admitted.
"Let's get him home first," Derek suggested.
"Yeah. Probably a good idea," Stiles agreed.
Derek lifted Scott up and slung Scott over his shoulder. Stiles followed with the pup still in his arms.
"Put him in the back of Roscoe," Stiles nodded toward his jeep. "It's not far and he'll be fine there."
Derek lay Scott in the rear cargo space and gently closed the door.
Stiles held up the pup. "I think you need to drive. He won't let me put him down."
"I could take him," Derek offered.
Stiles looked down at the pup. "I... I don't think so," he admitted. He dug into his pocket one-handed and tossed Derek the keys.
"The transmission sticks getting out of second," Stiles warned with a small grin.
"I know. I can hear it from a mile away. You need to get that fixed," Derek replied.
Stiles shrugged. "Someday. When I can afford it."
Derek frowned but didn't say anything. He climbed into the jeep and headed to the McCall house.
Luckily, Melissa was home and frowned as Derek carried Scott inside the house.
"Put him to bed, I guess," Stiles said.
"Stiles?" Melissa asked, worried.
Stiles held up a hand. "He's fine. Mostly. Let us get Scott settled and we'll explain."
"I'll put on some tea?" Melissa asked.
"That would be great!" Stiles nodded. He followed Derek up the stairs. In Scott's room, Derek rolled Scott onto the bed where Stiles one-handedly removed Scott's shoes as Derek wrestled Scott's jacket off.
Stiles stepped back and wiggled his fingers again. "He'll sleep all night at this point."
"Good," Derek said. "He'll need it. Hopefully, it will let him cool off."
Stiles shook his head. Scott knew how to hold a grudge.
They went back downstairs and sat around the kitchen table. Melissa put mugs of tea and a plate of cookies on the table.
"So. What happened?" Melissa asked. "And who's this cute little guy?" She reached out to pet the pup but withdrew her hand when it growled at her.
"Well, this little guy is Scott's wolf," Stiles replied, holding the pup closer to himself.
Melissa frowned. "Umm... What?"
Stiles sighed. "We had an... argument with Scott. Derek and I took care of a problem that Scott was going to let go."
"Humans?"
Stiles shook his head. "No. Pixies. They were dangerous and needed to be taken care of."
"Okay..."
"Scott was upset but he never wants to admit that some creatures don't deserve a second chance," Stiles said. "Anyway. He insisted that he never wanted to be a wolf, that he wanted to be human. I asked him twice if he was sure. Then my magic did its own thing and removed his werewolf-ness."
Derek snorted. "That's not a word."
Stiles waved his free hand. "But that's what it did. It gave me this guy and a... thing that made Derek an Alpha again."
"Derek?" Melissa asked.
Derek flashed his red eyes.
"That means that Scott is... human again?" Melissa went on.
"One hundred percent human," Stiles nodded. "He was, of course, furious about that. When he started to attack me, Derek held him off and I used a push of magic to make him sleep. He'll sleep until morning at this point."
"What happens then?" Melissa asked.
Stiles shrugged. "He's human and Derek's the Alpha. He has to petition Derek to be part of the Pack. We can still be friends if he's not Pack, but, to be honest, I'm not so sure how that's going to work."
Melissa rubbed her forehead. "And if he's bit again?"
"It won't take," Stiles said softly. "He won't go into Bite Rejection, fortunately. But he'll never be a werewolf again."
"That's good. I think." Melissa shook her head. "I don't know."
"I don't either," Stiles admitted. "Magic did this pretty much on its own. I was just the conduit. I probably could never do it again."
"Will you take him into the Pack?" Melissa looked at Derek.
Derek frowned. "I don't know. Not right away, to be honest. He'll be upset for quite a while, I think."
"What do I do?" Melissa asked frankly, cupping her hands around her tea.
"Be his Mom," Stiles said firmly. "Get him into therapy. We can give you a list of supernatural-aware therapists. Make sure he goes to work."
"His asthma?"
"Probably going to be back," Stiles admitted.
"Hoo-boy!" Melissa sighed.
Derek sat up. "If... if there are any medical bills related to that, the Pack will pay it." He glanced briefly at Stiles. "It's only fair."
"You may not want to tell him that part right away," Stiles said.
"Thank you." Melissa nodded. "Now what?"
"We're going to talk to dad," Stiles said. "Then... I don't know."
"We need to talk to the Pack," Derek said. "The Pack bonds were disrupted and while I know most of Scott's pack, I don't know them all."
"Oh, right," Stiles replied. "Okay, we're going to get going."
"Thank you for letting me know," Melissa said.
"Call if you need anything," Derek said solemnly.
"I will."
As they got into the jeep, Stiles said, "I think dad's working tonight. Swing by the Sheriff's Office first."
"Hey!" Stiles greeted Jordan Parrish who was manning the front desk. "Dad in?"
"Yes," Jordan nodded. He buzzed them into the non-public area of the station. Security had been beefed up after the Kanima. "Go on back."
Stiles tapped on the door. "Daddio!" Stiles grinned.
"Stiles! Derek!" He looked at them. "Now what?"
"No one's hurt and there are no bodies to hide!" Stiles said cheerfully. He dropped into one of the chairs in front of the desk.
"Who's this little guy?" John asked.
"Scott's wolf," Stiles replied.
"Well, I suspect there's a story to go with that," John nodded as he sat back in his chair.
Stiles repeated the story they had told Melissa.
"Let me get this straight. Scott's human and this little guy really is his wolf?" John asked.
"Yup!"
"Now what?" John asked.
"I have this urge to try something." Stiles got up and went around the desk to stand in front of his father. He handed the pup to his dad.
"Oh!" John said as he took the wolf pup, who went to him eagerly. There was a sharp smell of ozone and the pup changed. It no longer was a wolf but it was still definitely canine, larger than it had been a moment ago. John awkwardly held the larger animal which wasn't really any one identifiable type of dog, so 'mutt' should cover it well enough.
John rubbed his chest for a moment. "What was that?"
"A Pack bond," Derek said. "Specifically, a bond to the Hale pack, since I can feel that. The 'Wolf approves of you and made you Pack."
"I... I'm honored," John said. "And what about this guy?"
"He's yours," Stiles said. "He should be easy to work with. He's probably smarter than most dogs, so you can talk to him and he'll understand a lot of things. You can pass it off as 'voice commands' to most folk. Only Jordan and Melissa have seen him as a pup, so you can say he was in K-9 training and didn't quite make the grade but you kept him for yourself."
"Stiles! I'm never home!" John protested.
"Bring him to work with you," Stiles said. "He'll be fine and he'll let anyone you approve of walk him." Stiles grinned. "He'll walk by himself, but I suspect you'll have lots of volunteers."
"Huh."
"It'll be good for you to have someone in the house," Stiles said. "And I'll feel better that you have another layer of security."
"Oof," John said as the dog elbowed him. "Okay, I think you should get down, this chair isn't big enough for both of us."
The dog jumped down and leaned against John's legs. John leaned forward to scritch the dog between the ears.
"He... it is a he?" John asked.
Stiles nodded. "Yup."
"Okay, he have a name?" John asked.
"Nope, that's between you and him," Stiles said.
"Well, we're going to have to work on that, then," John said with a grin.
Stiles stood and yawned. "Okay, that's enough from me for tonight. I need some sleep after all of that."
"I'm still driving," Derek warned.
"Don't think I'm going to let you do that all the time," Stiles replied.
John laughed as they left his office.
