Chapter Text

The last thing Han Joonhwi remembers before falling unconscious is running.

He tried to make sense of where he was, or what happened to him, but all he can see were trees upon trees, and all he heard was the noise of birds chirping nearby. The forest, he thinks, but where?

His memory was hazy at best, and his head hurts. Did he hit it when he fell? He lifts his hand to check for blood but finds none. That’s when he sees a white cloth bandaged around his leg. Blood soaked it, but most importantly, it wasn’t from his clothes.

He remembers her. Though his memory of it was fuzzy.

--

He was drifting in and out of consciousness. He remembers tripping over and falling. He was certain he hit his head on something. Help, he tries to say. But his voice was weak. He closed his eyes and was praying for the best. Then he saw her.

She was trying to shake him awake. He remembers her white dress, her pink lips, her brown curls cascading on her arms, her slim figure. Her ethereal beauty radiated comfort, warmth, sunshine.

Home. A kind he hadn’t ever known.

But he can’t remember her face.

“Are you okay?” Yes, he remembers, her lilting voice. He couldn’t keep his eyes open, and all he senses are her hands on his head. His head suddenly felt warm, and the stinging pain and headache was gone. But he was still drifting in and out of consciousness. In the haziness of it all, he thinks he heard another voice, arguing with the woman. The other voice was more serious, he remembers, but similar to the woman’s. All he could hear were their muffled voices.

He heard the sound of cloth being ripped next and felt her hands on his leg, wrapping something around it. She was helping him.

“Stay alive, and don’t come back here again. It’s dangerous.” Those were the woman’s last words. He forced his eyes to open the most he could.

“We need to go. Now.” The other voice commanded, going towards them, and all he could see was the woman’s white dress, flowing in the wind as she ran away. Is she safe? He thinks. He sees her turn her head to face him.

Then all he saw was black.

Notes:

The setting I envisioned for this would be Bridgerton-esque (think Regency era) but with elements of magic. A time where nobility ruled and fairies were forced to go into hiding.

This whole thing is prompted by Ryu Hyeyoung's Singles photoshoot, the woman is too damn ethereal. It's my first stab at writing something in this genre (and in multichapter) so let me know what you guys think and if there are some things I could improve on!! Also, I have a (rough) draft of the flow, and just a warning, this might end up being really long since there are still some parts I need to flesh out.
