Chapter Text
The moonlight flooded the whole sky from horizon to horizon, enabling her to see the shadowy outline of his body as he leisurely approached her, only stopping when she took a step back.
"Look who we have here. I’m not even surprised, you know?" He shrugged his shoulders. "Like I was expecting you the whole time."
Balling her hands into fists, she asked, "What are you trying to do this time?"
"Why do you ask?" His smile gleamed, sharp like his knife. "Are you trying to thwart my plans again, tantei-chan?"
"Don't call me that!" Her brow puckered threateningly. "I’m going to catch you sooner than you think."
"Hm, it doesn’t sound even the least bit threatening when you say that," he mused, a mischievous look spreading across his face. "Because this way, our fates are intertwined."
Vivid amber eyes, luminous like a cat’s, bored into hers then, holding her hostage.
"Isn't that what you actually want?"
