A Winter Morning

Summary:

Kouga woke up with a yawn, one hand coming up to rub at his eyes, the other raised somewhat in a stretch, jostling the head of black hair that lay curled on his chest. Kagome still slept on, lost to the world and fast asleep. He blinked a few times, before yawning and turning his head to greet his other bedmate.

Sesshomaru leant against pillows, a book propped open on his lap, reading glasses resting on his nose. His long hair was gathered together in a lazy haphazardly gathered bun.

“Morning.” He greeted Kouga.

“Morning.” Kouga mumbled back.

Work Text:

It was still dark outside, but in Winter that didn’t necessarily mean that it wasn’t morning yet. “What time is it?” He asked trying to shift his position without disturbing Kagome.

Sesshomaru twisted, as much as he was able to with Kagome’s legs tangled up in his. He pulled his phone from the bookshelf headboard that they had bought at her insistence and peered at the numbers reflected on it.

“Hmm. An hour now I suppose.”

Kouga waved a hand, and Sesshomaru placed his phone in it. He unlocked it with Sesshomaru’s passcode, and scrolled through for a moment to get to the weather app, trying to decide if they needed to wake Kagome up today. If it was going to snow later, they should probably wake her up soon to get the groceries and spread the ice melt before it started.

“We’re expecting a few inches of snow later.” He stated, handing the phone back. “I can take care of the ice melt. But we probably need to buy some more.” Sesshomaru took the phone from him, shutting his book closed shortly afterwards.

“I can pick it up on the way home with Kagome.” He moved so that he was leaning over Kouga, the glasses on his face dropping down further. Kouga plucked them off and stored them in the headboard knowing Sesshomaru didn’t need them anymore.

He met Sesshomaru for a kiss knowing that was what he wanted: a morning kiss to greet the day. It was a shame though that his husband’s hair was up in the bun. He would have liked to run his fingers through it.

Sesshomaru pulled away with a smile. Then he stared at the sleeping female who was softly snoring away on Kouga’s chest.

“Would you like me to wake her?” He asked.

Kouga sighed. “Yeah, you probably should. I’ll get breakfast ready in the meantime.”

He slowly moved out from under Kagome, Sesshomaru there to catch her before her face hit the mattress. She made a sound of disgruntlement that had both him and Sesshomaru sharing amused glances. Kagome was many things, but a morning person definitely wasn’t one of them.

He watched the two of them for a moment, then left to get ready in the master bedroom’s ensuite.

Sesshomaru gently turned Kagome around, snuggling up closer to her. She mumbled something, and her arms came up to pat his bare chest. Her hair tickled him as she burrowed closer, slowly waking up.

“Morning.” He whispered into her hair, one hand combing through the strands.

“No.” Kagome grumbled snuggling deeper and closer.

Sesshomaru laughed, the sound vibrating through him. “Must we do this every morning Kagome?” He asked, nudging her.

“Not morning.” Kagome said stubbornly. “Eyes not open.”

Sesshomaru moved, beginning the slow process of untangling himself from her, and pushed her away so that she actually laid on a pillow again. Kagome kept her eyes closed stubbornly and rooted around blindly for their comforter which Sesshomaru smugly kept out of her reach.

She finally opened her blue eyes, a pout on her face.

“Morning.” Sesshomaru told her again, leaning closer. He kissed her pout away, slowly, gently, hands threading through her hair, legs tangling together again with hers.

“Morning.” She whispered as he pulled away.

She watched him stand, stretching, admiring the view from the comfort of the bed. He raised an eyebrow at her, then bent down to give her a kiss on the forehead.

She sighed. “Fine.” She grumbled half-heartedly. “Five more minutes, okay?”

Sesshomaru nodded, turning to join Kouga in the ensuite.

“Five more minutes it is then.”
