Shinji stared at Takuya. His brothers face had a gruesome grin, like that of a serpent about to strangle and then eat its prey. Shinji just nervously backed up, hoping his brother wouldn't yell any more than he already had.
"Where do you think your going Shinji..." Takuya said as he gripped Shinji by the throat, picking him up, "man you really are light! You should work out more, maybe then you'd actually be popular." He still had that awful disgusting grin. Shinji hated it so much, but he couldn't do anything about it. He couldn't really do anything about being choked either, though he'd try more there.
He felt his breaths become shorter as he started to kick his legs try to kick at his brother but always missing. As he kicked he tried to use his hands to claw at his brother's hand, hoping, praying, he'd get it off, but like a viper his brothers hand only tightened. The more he struggled the more he hurt. His throat hurt a lot, his head was pounding, and he felt like he was gonna pass out. Then it happened.
Rose vines bursted out of the wall, and wrapped around his brother, pulling his brother against the wall. During this Takuya's grip had loosened and Shinji dropped tot he ground, catching his breath, before looking up. He felt like his head spinning as he looked at his brother, tied a against a wall with vines, unable to hurt him or do anything to him now. But then it hit him...THIS ISN'T NORMAL OH GOD! D-DID I DO THIS. He thought, his brain looking for any other solution, as he glanced from Takuya to his hands, then back to Takuya.
"WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU DO SHINJI?!?" Takuya yelled, the vines tightening around his legs and arms, "STOP TRYING TO HURT ME YOU LITTLE FREAK I'LL-I'LL KILL YOU!" There was a hesitation to what Takuya said, like he was nervous, hell even vulnerable for once.
Shinji didn't even try to stop the vines, he just chuckled almost in disbelief for a few seconds, before he saw his brothers face again. A wave of guilt washed over him and he tried to make them stop. It was hard, but eventually he was able to get his brother down. As his brother got down, and touched the floor relieved, Shinji ran.
He sprinted down the stairs, then through the door, and then out into the street and farther and farther into the city. He felt shaky, and dizzy. He felt his throat tightening and his eyes tearing up slightly as he realized there was no going home. His family would kill him, everyone would think he's a freak, there was no way he could ever go back. he was so distracted with everything else that he didn't notice the vines growing up his ankles before being torn through as he ran. He didn't feel the light prick of the thorns, he didn't realize his ankles were lightly bleeding. He didn't notice his burning thighs, the people yelling at him to slow down, the setting sun, or even the man in front of him as he started to run through the alley. He just kept pushing forward and forward, until he tripped.
He scuffed himself up, and he could feel his hands and knees bleeding slightly, as he'd fallen pretty hard. He just laid there after tripping for a second, catching his breath, and trying to organize his thoughts, but it was no use. They were a jumbled mess of incoherent nonsense. he decided to sit up, using his arms to prop himself up and letting his legs rest.
He looked at his surroundings, immediately noticing a strange man. He was tall, with an afro and messy facial hair, as well as an umbrella and a very strange outfit. He scared Shinji...a lot.
"...y-you-um-you okay?" The man put a hand out, looking over Shinji, clearly nervous.
"L-Leave me alone-!" Shinji yelled, backing up with his arms, and trying to move his legs back, though they didn't budge easily as the vines had grown up them quickly.
The man looked down at Shinji's legs and noticed the vines, and then noticed the ones slithering up his arms. "Erm-So y-your an e-esper huh?" He asked, his voice was low and quiet, and he looked straight at the ground.
"A what?!? No I'm-I'm not whatever that is!" Shinji said, panicking and trying to back up with his arms again, but he'd basically tied himself down with his powers, if unknowingly.
The man noticed small vines growing up his own ankles. They pricked his feet through his crocs. "E-espers are people with-with psy-psychic powers y'know? L-Like-" He raised some plastic bottles from a nearby trash can, before dropping them into the recycling. Shinji just stared in a mix of fear and astonishment.
"I-I don't have any psychic powers-" he mumbled, frozen in place at this point.
"But-you-your the o-one causing the vines right?" The man asked titling his head slightly.
"I-I think so, I-honestly I don't know..." Shinji mumbled, his throat feeling too dry to talk much more.
"O-Oh! So you must've j-just gotten your powers!" He talked with a bit more confidence, seeming like he'd had something confirmed. "Well t-then you'll be perfect, my boss'll lo-love you!" he said, seeming happy at this development.
This man is so...strange... Shinji thought to himself, though he knew this man was more than just strange. "Er-what does that mean?" He asked, the mild concern he might get kidnapped was starting to become more prominent.
"Oh-My-My boss runs an organization that employs espers! It helps th-them! A-and you seem powerful so y-y'know he'd probably like that!" He seemed to lose confidence as he spoke, and seemed mildly embarrassed by then end.
"W-What?" He was shocked that a part of him was considering going with this man. "Wh-What-um-what's this organization called? And what's your name?" He mumbled the last part as he felt the vines start to ease their way back to the ground.
"The organization is CLAW, a-and I'm Serizawa Katsuya! A-Apologies for not in-in-introducing myself sooner!" Serizawa bowed as he apologized, treating Shinji as if he were his senior, rather than a mere teenager. After he bowed he put a hand out.
Shinji took his hand, shaking it lightly, despite the tremble still in his hand. "I-I'm Shinji Kamuro." He then used to Serizawa's hands to get himself standing up, and break through the vines holding him to the ground. Once he was up he let go of his hand.
"You want to come-to join CLAW?" Serizawa asked, a light glint to his eyes. Shinji just nodded, and proceeded to following Serizawa to the Claw headquarters as the sun completely set and the moon rose up.
